I feel I was born a generation too late, I absolutely adore Mr Evans, and have for 20+ years, I’ve been to the Village Vanguard jazz club in New York City and when I was there, down in that iconic basement, I envisioned what it would’ve been like to see Mr Evans perform 🎹 🥃 ❤️ ☮️
I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE THE MEMORY TO HAVE BEEN THE SOUND-ENGINEER AT BILL EVENS AND EDDIE GOMEZ CONCERTS AND PERFORMANCES AT CONCERTES IN SWEDEN HELD BY THE JAZZ-CLUB THE JAZZ-CLUB THE COMPLETE COMUNION IN THE 1970'S IN LINKÖPING - AND NOT LEAST TO HAVE SHARED SOME HOURS OF AFTER TIME AND AND UNFORGETTABLE HOURS AND MUSIC WITH THEM AT THE RALLYE HOTEL WITH THEM THERE....
@cartoons Life is a portrait...at some point, Drugs are a color....how remiss an artist to shun a color. This music was brought to you by Bill Evans....but also cocaine and heroin. Ride off into the sunset with your opinion...I don't recall asking for it. Just know...your favorite music was most likely brought to you by drugs. Miles Davis...what a star. It is not my intention to glorify using drugs to make music...but to tamper your ignorant comment. You may think more deeply and intelligently without drugs...but maybe...just maybe...that is the problem.
57 Rue de la Sorbonne, Fourth floor, Thursday Oct 14, 1964 at 10:45pm An affable, unassuming Jean-Paul Sartre lookalike saunters up to the Baby Grand in the Salonette and just starts playing. The subdued but lively mingle of conversations ebbs as we take in the phenomenon of genuine artistry, all without having expected it, let alone realize who was among our midst this evening. A moment for the ages, forever emblazoned in our minds.
Small wooden table, grey table cloth, Thornet wicker seat chairs, wax smeared glass bowl holding a half spent candle with smoke ash on rim, old fashion melting ice in my glass, ancient ash tray on table with chipped edge…my wife across from me, we both dressed for this, you remember going out in your best clothes…just listening, dreaming together, talking of the things we did and the things we wish to do…good time. Thanks for the tunes Bill.
I haven't seen this technique used before but I believe it's to get around some possible copyright infringement issues. Apparently these aberrations make it harder for scanners to find a match on the image.
I literally cant get enough of Bill Evans - does anyone have any recommendations for similar style of jazz? Been listening to Chet Baker, Paul Desmond, Brubeck, and Stan Getz mainly. Looking to branch out in the cool/modal/third stream subgenres
On piano: John Lewis, Kenny Drew, Barry Harris, Andrew Hill, Wynton Kelly, Teddy Wilson, Red Garland, Ahmad Jamal, Bud Powell, McCoy Tyner, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Handcock, Art Tatum
hey, consider the ballad years of miles davis (trumpet) with early john coltrane and maybe his slower bop years...look into the album, "kinda blue" , etc 1960 ish, or some oscar peterson or ahmad jamal in thise years and in same vein!
Enciendo mi reproductor y seleccione a Bill Evans.
As a musician, a serious hobbyist who writes and can play improvisationally. I love most genres. But some of the mightiest artists, Miles Davis and Bill Evans for example, are lost on me. They sound good but do not impress me like Louis Armstrong and Chick Corea do. Is it purely a matter of taste? What is it I'm missing? -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
What the heck composition was that with the heavy base, tin notes, and running water at (3:11:22), and again at (4:49:15)?! It sounds totally out of place. Some of his late work? Something else?

Great memory.
Wow! That's awesome, with good mems.
Thanks for that. If you can engineer your capslock, it won't sound like you are shouting.
The Best.
I love haz jazz and I'm always listening to different performers, but I always go back to the best one, Bill Evans.
Thank God for Bill Evans
The king of all times. Unbelievable.
memories of a very good friend.....
God bless Bill Evens
His style of playing matches his look
So sweet.
I just ate 3 grams of mushrooms...right now...this is so perfect. Honestly, never tripped on Jazz....this should be a change.

Bill Evans NO one like him ever🎹🎶🎶❤️
Oh lots of people liked him. He was fairly popular. Oh, you mean, there was no one like him? I concur.😉
AN INCREDIBLE JAZZ PIANIST. JUST PARTICULARLY MY FAVORITE. SO MANY TALENTED ONES, I CONCUR. ❤️
It's a meditation . . .
Sophisticated and soulful interpretations lovingly expressed but with a tinge of sadness… in other words Gill had it all!
Bill ;)
Bill
Gil Evans also had it all : )
Deadhead since forever but this is , like a beatnik in the corner dancing by himself, far out.
that drum solo awakened my soul
Thanks for uploading this!
I do my homework to this video. It's perfect.
heavenly
Everytime I hear this worship song, I can't help my tears falling down.
I love listening to this while studying
Great stuff!

Very good selection of compositions, but you should check the definition of the word "song".

What a beautifully described scene. Thank you for that.
The golden era of jazz.
And a Ethan Hawke lookalike.😎😎

Beautifully set and said...thanks for posting this.
Sounds really great on my I Pad…How did you post 11 hours worth high quality music?
❤
Looking at this picture I thought I was having retina problems. Then I see it was something they added. Tryin' to be cute!
It's very old footage of him sitting very still for 12 hrs.

Dude it's a VFX effects lol. It's done all the time when a videographer wants a vintage film look on digital footage.
He looks like he was no stranger to a little heroin every now and then. ❤️
is this the most full album ever?!?
💗💗
Don't know if this cat is Leonardo, Raphael or Michelangelo; but this sounds like a Renaissance...

Pas d'accord. Écoute All blues dans kind of blues.
Never knew of him. Not even much of a jazz fan. He really pulls you into another place.
He's one of THE BEST!!!
