Like the visor you use when cutting. I have used safety glasses before but the grinding disc when under the lense and got a piece in my eye. The shield...is a lot safer. Good video.
@MrsBuddevil yes. I cut the steel off as in the video. I stack up the centers and sell as clean copper/aluminum rads. You can go a step further and cut each pipe out of the aluminum fins. You will then have number 2 copper. I get these so fast that for me to take the time to do it is not worth it. Thanks for watching anything I can help with let me know. You can message me on IG also
Do you try to harvest the macaroni on the ends? I usually either double cut with a sawzall or cut on the and knock the steel off. That worm drive saw is the bomb!
Yes I clean those also. Most of the time they pop out with a screwdriver. If not I run them through the bandsaw. I Normally wait til I have a barrel full of them to process at once on rainy day.
If you ever do decide to pull the straight pipes out of the rads lay them flat in a tote and soak them in vinegar for 20 mins and it'll eat the corassion off and turn it to number 1. Make sure to wash them off good or it'll turn green fast. Happy scrappy
Yes vinegar works great. I add salt also. I dont do it anymore. Theres just no time. I get so many so fast I just can't take the time anymore to do it. Thanks for checking this out.
Anything that was in or on the pipe other than copper will make it number 2. These copper aluminum radiator coils had refrigerate running through them which has an oil in it. The oil in the pipe make it number 2. Number 1 copper is clean uncontaminated copper. No paint, oil, solder, grease, etc. Hope this clears up the difference. If you have more questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for watching
Great video. I've only ever had one of those copper/aluminium rads. I think it came out of an AC unit. But who would need it in Ireland, I don't know LOL
I cut the ends off to get rid of the steel. Then sell the clean radiator with aluminum on it. I get so many so fast for me it is not worth going to the next step to separate the aluminum fins from the copper tube.
You can cut along every single pipe to remove the aluminum and end up with #2 copper. Takes a lot of time. You would be better off cutting the ends and sell them as is. Instead of waiting 20 or 30 minutes fighting with each pipe you can use that time to hunt down more scrap worth more than the few extra bucks separating.
Sorry to tell you this radiators are in vehicles operator calls or an air conditioners that’s twice I heard you call him radiators while you’re working on it can evaporator coal
We call them copper aluminum coils over here. I have called them radiators at times cuz I was getting so many messages not understanding what we call them. Thanks for watching
Correct. I cut the steel end off and sell as clean ACR'S. I don't waste time cutting and pulling every row of tubing out. You can make extra money doing that however it is time consuming. I have found for me it is not worth it, I get so many so fast I don't have extra time.
What long pipe? Are you referring to the pipe that runs through the aluminum? If so you have to cut down each pipe to separate it. I don't waste time doing that. I have found it take to much time. I get such a large volume of cu/al rads I just cut the end of stack them up. Thanks for watching
I use a special putty knife and put the radiator in my vise. I cut the aluminum to the copper pipe and push the radiator to snap out or tug the copper pipe. Yields #1 copper.
Never use a circular saw I like the grinder myself. Idk why people use a sawzall it's a pain in the ass and takes forever. Plus I strip the copper tube and them sawsall beat the shit out the aluminum
Yea if ya got the time sounds good. I found it's not worth it. The time it takes getting out the #2 copper I can be out getting more coils. Thanks so much for watching

Thanks. It works great. And was only 5 bucks.
Hello, what kind of disc is this for cutting copper pipes? Is this a regular wood disc?? Regards
This is not a disc. It is a circular saw blade. Made for cutting aluminum and soft metals. I also have other blades that cut steel. Cuts like butter.
I'll be sharing you to my people. I'm also gonna shout you out in my next video!
Awesome, thank you!

You are doing a fine job on evaporator cooler not Radiators
When you take them to the scrap yard they are called and paid out as copper aluminum radiators.

It's best to do the labor then sell the copper by itself 😅
I wonder any special way of actually seperateing the pipe out . Or this take too much time. I only get a dozen of these a year.

What about air conditioners? Do they have much copper in them?
Yes there's great copper in an AC. But you have to have the gas removed by someone with an EPA license.
