Hi Jon, RUclips placements targeting actually works with a workaround, but do you really think that URL audience and custom audience is better than placement targeting ?
I run a YT Ads Agency and actually, URL targeting in Google Ads doesn’t allow you to target specific people who visited an 'Add to Cart' page or completed payments. Instead, it finds users with similar behaviors or interests to those who typically visit such pages. So, while using a competitor’s 'Add to Cart' URL in a custom segment can help you reach people with similar buying intent, you're not directly targeting those who visited the exact page-you’re targeting a broader audience that behaves like them.
I think I understand what you're saying, but actually we've tested both and seen different results, which indicates that actually they do create different audiences based on different parts of the websites.
for URL targeting, doesn't it find people who browse sites "similar to" whatever URL you put in, not, the actually URL you input. So if you put your competitors' purchase page, it won't actually show ads to users who visit that page but pages similar to it?
It's not a matter of what's best, it's more just what works for your audience, I like search terms because you can be a little more specific, but if you want to go a bit broader, say for example the wedding industry, well interest based could work really well!
Wrong info on URL targeting. You can only target URLs that are on the display network. Therefore 99% of payment pages cannot be targeted. Not sure where he's getting his info from
Too Good 🌟 Jon i m a hvac design engineer construction industry-could you suggest some top books to read for standing out of crowd in competition of the market in freelancing & 1 person online business as solopreneur as beginner when clients are choosing to work with established players only experienced people who have previous projects on paper so how could i acquire the space..
Is it my impression or as of right now, it's not possible to narrow audiences anymore? That option doesn't show on google ads for me like it's showing for you at 3:32
The best way to narrow your audience is through what you say in your video ad, that's what we're finding works great. You can still narrow your audience through targeting with URLs and things like that, but platforms are becoming a lot better at learning what audience we want and finding them with less work on our end :)
It's not really a matter of which is better, it's really down to what works best for you! In some cases and for certain businesses, custom audiences will be the best, but for others google's own audiences are great! Try them both and see which gets the best results for you :)
@@JonPenberthy Thank you for your comment. I currently use custom audiences for my entrance offer which is a free marketing tool, I want target beginners that want start marketing, do you think google owns audiences will be better ?
I think you could probably be more focused and better of starting with your own audiences that you create, especially using URLs for a tool as you can take the URL from other tools like yours and create an audience from them :)
Hey AJ, thanks for watching and glad you're enjoying the content! We aren't currently in need for your services, but when we need people and are hiring I post it on my Instagram, so make sure to go and follow me over there so you can keep an eye out :)

wrong information that in cusotm segments you can add specific URLs from a website, Actually google takes to full websites to find audiences
I think I understand what you're saying, but actually we've tested both and seen different results, which indicates that actually they do create different audiences based on different parts of the websites.
@@JonPenberthy you also said that you can take the post-purchase offer URL does google is that much specific
Yep, works a treat for us doing that at the moment

one more question what is the best interest based custom segments audience or search terms based custom segments audience
