    Good for rock stars to have one tv to watch and one to throw out the window. I wonder if anyone famous has stayed in that room - ofc they have, you're in the video :D

    Hi Roger. I have been to events at the Landmark, never stayed over so this was enlightening. Breakfast is making me hungry (no beans?) and I miss the Grapefruit juice of a morning, can't have it if you are on the bane of later life eg high blood pressure tablets as it cancels the medication out I'm advised. Good review, nice suite. Did they know you were doing a Vblog when they upgraded you, or were you just lucky/a frequent visitor I wonder.

      Hey Brian! They didn’t know I was doing a vlog - I never try and use that as a means of getting “perks”. 😀 The Conference has been at the Landmark for about 14 years now so I guess we are seen as good customers! ☺️ Happy Christmas! 🎄

    thank you Rog for this room tour. I would probably never be in a luxury hotel like this in my life, so I love the "luxury hotel" series on your channel. thank you!!

      My pleasure Laura. I very lucky to be able to stay at The Landmark - it comes with the conference hosting I’ve been doing for many years now. The upgrade to the Suite was an even bigger bonus! 😀

    Nice one Rog. What a great hotel/room. More like a luxury flat than a hotel room. The breakfast looked fab, made me hungry! Shame about the view! Am just back from London(Twickenham), going back down at end of Feb! Hope train journey OK, there and back. 👍

      I went both ways on LUMO and both services were bang on time. Didn’t film either journey as the trains were busy and I’ve done LUMO before. Hope you had a good time yourself. 😀

    Hello Roger, another enjoyable hotel review. That hotel has changed so much. After WW2 it became the HQ of British Transport Commission (all faithfully recorded in the hotel's historical web page). That atrium and grand staircase were sealed off at that time. I interviewed the late Cyril Bleasdale (head of Inter City) there in the mid-1980s. Entrance (the same one you used facing Marylebone) with a gruff receptionist hidden behind BR-era ticket office (just inside the entrance) ! All I remember is walking down a long corridor with the then small rooms converted into BR offices. All carpets, decor, furnishings were as from a BR station. Hardly uplifting !

      Thanks so much Alex. I do find the history quite fascinating. I’d like to visit the other “Railway Hotels” at some point and see how they compare. 😀🚈

      @@RogEdwardsTV I wish you would Roger ! Now of course the best have been renovated to a high degree and prices have risen accordingly. Two in Edinburgh you ought to investigate (maybe the PR people can provide some history detail) are the Balmoral (previously the North British) and the Caledonian (serving the capital's other, now closed, terminus). I wonder (now that the terminus has vanished) how many of the latter's guests realise it was once a grand railway hotel ?

      I guess because I live in Edinburgh I always forget the Balmoral and the Cally were Railway Hotels. Did a bit of research this afternoon and there are some great ideas for 2024! Thanks! 😀

    Not a patch on the Balmoral and the Caledonian Hotels in Edinburgh? Sorry, but my heart lies in Edinburgh and Londistan come a very poor second?

    • @RogEdwardsTV
      @RogEdwardsTV  6 месяцев назад +2

      Fair! All share the heritage of originally having been built as Railway Hotels which I find fascinating. 😀

    I can think of quite a few far more luxurious hotels in London. The Ritz, Dorchester, Claridge’s, Savoy, Mandarin Oriental, Berkeley, Connaught, Langham, Brown’s, Rosewood, Lanesborough, Corinthia for example.
