@SuperLifestream I don't think it's very easy to enforce this type of stuff. Mojang isnt losing money by letting them exist and it would cost them a lot of money to get rid of them. To get rid of these servers their enforcement team would have to probably be as large as their development team (at least untol they took down the majority of servers). There also aren't any consequences for Mojang. As I said, they dont lose money, but they don't get in legal trouble either. Which is interesting since CS:GO crates aren't allowed to even be opened in The Netherlands, but somehow this Minecraft server (which is way worse imo) still exists.

No, it's that profitable. I've hosted gmod RP server with minimal donations in 2013, and still made crazy ammount of money on 64 player server. If they have 1k+ active people on prеdatory monetized server, i can't even imagine how much money they do, i'm sure if they actually launder money it's less profitable than this server lmao.

Ive played before and theres a clear advantage that people get if they pay money vs f2p. It also takes too long to get the items as f2p, around a few months just to get enough money to pay someone who themselves used real world money to buy the item (Or get lucky when you buy cubits from someone).

This is actually so funny/weird for me to see on my feed. I used to be a very active F2P player on Manacube and Mineville (Their earlier server that got merged) during Covid. I managed to work my way up the economy and was able to pay others to buy me the highest rank, as well as, become a SVA collector. At some point I believe I was one of the richest F2P players with multiple enderchest pages of vaultables. I used to own a lot of those super rare 2019-2021 SVAs that are in the video. Even back then, I managed to make about $500 through selling SVAs to people for PayPal. Unfortunately, at some point I stopped playing and lost all my SVAs because I forgot to vault them. I’m sure my whole collection would’ve been worth thousands nowadays. Sad to see what the server has come to though.
The fact that i used to play on cracked minecraft and bought the real mc like 2 yrs later, and not spending a single euro/dollar on any in game stuff, and these people are spending thousands on just ONE server is crazy.
I'm playing on a dutch server right now with a similair problem. It was created by a dutch youtuber who stopped uploading, but now some of his fans are spending 600 euros everytime there is a new type of crate. This server even lets their gamemodes die out by adding too much p2w items to the point everyone stops playing (after playing everyday for 3 years) and then just start a new gamemode. There are probably hundreds of these servers so i'm glad you are making a video to get it out to more people. If you are a kid that doesn't have knowledge of this you could be waisting years of your life just to loose everything because the server owner gets too greedy.

This server's issue honestly reminds me so much of Kingdom of Loathing. It's one of the longest running active mmos of all time, still browser based, and still free, and it's an awesome game, I would totally recommend. The problem comes that the monetization strategy is mainly a monthly unique item that is actually unique, along with a yearly one that's the same. That's honestly a good monetization strategy, which isn't unreasonable, especially for a 20 year old game, but the problem is more mechanical than a monetization one. They're usually really strong, and the problem rises that, lategame, some of them, such as Monster Manuel or the Buddy Bjorn, that aren't currently available other than trading, are all but required for optimal play. Don't let that dissuade you from trying it, it's a great game still, but that issue is just reminiscent here

I don't spend THAT much, but usually around 1-200. I'm a maintenance worker/electrician/PLC tech with....16 years combined experience. I'm not rich by any means, but I am frugal and choose to spend money on things I enjoy.

That is crazy, i was playing Manacube so much a few years ago, but only Parkour, but even there they tried to make p2w a thing (Jumping Potions which fired back HARD), funny enough, the guy that purchased by far the most on Manacube, across all gamemodes, will probably be Ozzyblack21, when i played he always got every single crate item, in the most popular modes. Another thing, the owner Dacon was much, much closer to his community in the past, but that seems to have changed quite a lot, focusing more to the income than having a community that liked him, even going as far as basically ruining the only gamemode that was popular at the time, or the most popular one, Parkour, which was sad to see after spending countless hours on there, the best players mostly quit since it became so stale and boring that it left a big gap in the mode, but as i saw the player count on the other modes i see he will do much better financially than before ^^ Crazy to see one of the 'og' servers i played on in a Video of yours.

They're usually really strong, and the problem rises that, lategame, some of them, such as Monster Manuel or the Buddy Bjorn, that aren't currently available other than trading, are all but required for optimal play.
Don't let that dissuade you from trying it, it's a great game still, but that issue is just reminiscent here

For the biggest video game in existence, the fact that moderation is focused on chat rather than servers like this is abhorrent. Microsoft can absolutely fund a team to find and take down these servers. Gambling addiction is scary stuff.

That is crazy, i was playing Manacube so much a few years ago, but only Parkour, but even there they tried to make p2w a thing (Jumping Potions which fired back HARD), funny enough, the guy that purchased by far the most on Manacube, across all gamemodes, will probably be Ozzyblack21, when i played he always got every single crate item, in the most popular modes.
Another thing, the owner Dacon was much, much closer to his community in the past, but that seems to have changed quite a lot, focusing more to the income than having a community that liked him, even going as far as basically ruining the only gamemode that was popular at the time, or the most popular one, Parkour, which was sad to see after spending countless hours on there, the best players mostly quit since it became so stale and boring that it left a big gap in the mode, but as i saw the player count on the other modes i see he will do much better financially than before ^^
