Welcome to Canada!! Great video as always! You are absolutely right about the signal lights tho. Honestly, who uses their signal lights on a trail..? We aren't that polite here.. lol. They gotta get rid of that dumb option n just give us hazard lights that we can turn on or off as we choose.
I used to work on Series Land Rovers as a job, the body and roof options are correctly proportioned, but, the suspension hight is also too low... rim diameter is also a bit too big
My all time favorite 4x4! I've loved the series II Land Rover, but all you could find was the Discover model. I might do this one, but I would love for them to come out with a 1/10 scale! Thanks for the good video.
Nice little Landy, couple of issues but I'm probably just not picking, usually a series 2 would have air vent flaps on the front slam panel, a spare wheel on the front and usually right hand drive, and as you say the wheels are the wrong size and style, but I am a huge landy fan so just being nit picky lol
Ah! At last, the 1:12 scale guys get a really exciting new model before the 1:10 scale blokes! For years I've been asking "Where are all the interesting RC off road models? Where's the Series IIA, the Daihatsu Wildcat, the LR Lightweight or its Spanish equivalent, the Ligera?" Well, at last FMS have done us proud, and I salute them. I hope this truck sells in droves, to encourage manufacturers to stop feeding us Defenders and come up with something refreshingly different. And they've done it really well, and you, Phil, have done a great job of selecting appropriate terrain and recording footage which effectively refutes those "shelf queen" accusations you mentioned.
@@TomleyRC Ah, Canada - my wife once lived there, and she speaks very warmly of the place. Lots of readily accessible beauty spots, stable economy and government...as I see it, you'll have to carry quite a lot of fuel if you drive the HiLux overland through Europe and Russia, then convert it to an amphibious Toybota in order to cross the Bering Strait. Then it's back to non-amphibious on-road trim for the last straight shot through Alaska to Canada.
Wow. That looked so good. I think you're right about the terrain. It was perfect for the scale of the truck. I'm pretty sure that's the first leaf spring model I've seen that wasn't overly stiff and performed well enough. I think FMS knocked another one out of the park.
This looks just as good as the one that just arrived in the post at work! 😁 I chose the green one, but I might want to paint it a darker green. And yea, the details are stunning! I’ll be trying it out this weekend, weather permitting!
I hope you and the family had a nice visit to this side of the Atlantic. I appreciate the review of this beauty while you're on vacationl Perfect location for the FMS. I agree with you in that the proportions look a little off but not horrendously so. Still a looker. Enjoy the vacation friend!
Welcome to the East Coast! I'm in Nova Scotia but have family in Newfoundland and have been there many times. On an unrelated note. Big thanks for these videos you do. I'm just getting into the hobby and awaiting delivery of my first RC and your videos have been very helpful and informative. Keep them coming!
These prehistoric Land rovers ply in Sandakphu route in West Bengal till date, engines have been replaced, but rest remains same 🥰🥰🥰. Toughest off roads in India there.
I hope you're having a nice vacation. It looks like a beautiful spot and great crawling area for the little Rover. It performed well. I haven't been to one recently, but dollar stores in the U.S. are good sources for driver figures. The one you selected looked great and the color of his coat almost matched the scale crawler's color.
I'd love to have one but I can't swing yet another truck right now. I've got enough rigs as it is (30.) But, yes, the thing does look awesome. I do have to agree that some of the proportions look a bit off. That said, I long for the day that RC companies actually do faithful reproductions of cars. I still think you need an MN111.
If i am honest out of all the rc makers. I dont think anybody is anywhere near close to fms for the amount of time and effort they put in to with detailing of there rc's . Can you think of anyone else Phil ?
I have a series three i drive daily, its acctually very close, looks great, couple things tho, yes the rims are too large, makes it looks like its running 18” rims lol, its missing the door tops, when hardtops go on, u put tops of doors on, alot of little details are missing, but most are their. Yes the windsheild is galvanised, so are the trimmings around rear tub As i mentioned before door tops missing and catflap on rear end missing Light placement is correct tho, looks good, dose a job, you can make the missing parts, Be nice to see a series three produced of this model
@TomleyRC I swapped in some of those Chinese ally jobbies from ebay on mine it works brilliantly needs custom links though as the mounts are in different places on the axles as for the gearbox it hasn't broken yet! Running 118mm tyres on 2.2 rims proper looks the part! And if you ever want rid of it let me know would love a second one!
Phil, you are 3700kms closer to your 105mph Infraction! Still 2800kms (by car) away though... 😉 Did you notice that the Land Rover box has a very slight wood grain pattern on it with holes for a rope handle?
Got to love an old landy 😊 I hope your able to meet up with matt (SBG) wile your in canadianland 😅 he sounded really excited to see you on last week live take over 😂👊🏼🤙🏼🇬🇧💨💨
That looks great! However, the wipers are wrong as when they're parked they should both be pointing inwards, also the rear chassis rail should be black and the fittings one the tailgate should be galvanized not body colour but those are easy to fix. The wipers are annoying though.
That is a great looking little trail truck. I'm bloody running out of superlatives here. In AUS, with the real 1:1 Land Rovers, the original engines would be swapped out for a Holden six. It was that common you could by an adapter kit to do it. Oh and if the wife gets concerned about you RCing on holiday, tell her that you weren't, you were actually watching dwarf porn on your computer.
Great review mate, the thing does look super scale. Hope you have had a great time away. Safe travels but be careful if you bring some of those cans back through customs 😂!
As a Series Landy owner, I approve. Unfortunately I've got Boom Racing Series aspirations but FMS money😆 *Zips up anorak* •The 1/2 cab is technically called a truck cab, the roof you chose would be a station wagon, soft tops are called tilts. No roofs are called pneumonia wagons, JK😜😆 •The windscreen frame is galvanised steel as is the body capping where the roof joins the tub and goes down the rear corners. Later 90/110 Defenders were painted but prone to rusting. •The tyres would be scale if the owner spec'd the optional 750x16 instead of the standard 600x16 wheels. Hopefully there's upgrades cos FMS didn't go with std hexes🤬 From the clips I've seen, it drives pretty scale cos real ones often cock a leg off road. They do improve your driving skillset and help spotting good lines. Luckily the FMS is twin locked whereas the 1:1 isn't but there various techniques for overcoming that.😉 They missed a trick not painting the famous yellow and red 4wd/transfer box levers. All in all a damn good effort in this sea of rice burners😄
Ah, the Lager that makes your throat hurt, yet a staple at Ladies night for some reason.
That's what she said.
I guess.
😂😂😂
🤣
😂😂😂💀
😂
That blue one would be perfect with Shawn the Sheep figures in it!!

Yeah… no need for them is there
Does look lovely, without a doubt. FMS knows how to do that part very well. Now, if they can only get the other part right, we'd have a winner!
Yes, although they are still young as far as Ground Vehicles go… so 🤞🏻
I used to work on Series Land Rovers as a job, the body and roof options are correctly proportioned, but, the suspension hight is also too low... rim diameter is also a bit too big

So many places to take it out here… next time I’m going to have to bring a separate suitcase just for the rigs 😅

Another one I am tempted to buy. Great enthusiasm and filming as ever.
Thanks David

Thank you for sharing a good video with a nice car! 💯👍👍
I hope you had a great time on the rock and in St. John's! Signal Hill or cape spear make great locations for rock crawlers!
Awesome ride and review, Phil! 😃
What a beautiful place! Enjoy there!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks mate. It’s certainly a beautiful place
Great location and nice scale rig

On an unrelated note. Big thanks for these videos you do. I'm just getting into the hobby and awaiting delivery of my first RC and your videos have been very helpful and informative. Keep them coming!
Cheers dude. Such an awesome place…. I’m looking forward to finding even more places to explore next time 👌
This video is just missing it classic music about the countryside 👌🤣🤣
😬

You are correct !! The whole turn signal thing is annoying, kinda wonky!!
Yeah… they need to be on a separate switch or not at all
Its nice to see a shelf queen actually put to work. I can never keep em on the shelf myself lol
Looks like you had a great time in Newfoundland. Maybe Nova Scotia next ? 😉
the driver is Sokka from same avatar series. lol those fms models are nice as well as the packaging.
Turn signals ? Seem to be on both sides and Series II's didn't have hazard flashers. Still a fabulous looking model.
love this!!
Looks great we just need a Tomley version in white with a red hard top and a Tomley figure as driver 😁👌
Red and Limestone, not white!.
IYKYK 😉
I was just there for work. Was a beautiful drive. Wish I would have brought an RC with me.
It’s an awesome place
No King of the Hammers 😮

looks great in the rocks
Yes 🤘
😮 fantastic
This would look great next to my C10 SCX24😊. I wonder if your allowed to put the scx24 style rims on that rig? Thanks for another great review video.
From other videos they don't use the SCX24 style hex.
FMS🤬😆
That definitely was the perfect setting and terrain for this model.
But i wonder how well it would cope if the rocks were wet? 🤔
He's in canada!😯
🇨🇦

Ok, all the electronics under the hood is freakin sweet. This is the first FMS i think I need to get. Been wanting to try a leaf spring model.
This Land Rover is awesome ! It's really cool to have the old version! COOL 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I have a series three i drive daily, its acctually very close, looks great, couple things tho, yes the rims are too large, makes it looks like its running 18” rims lol, its missing the door tops, when hardtops go on, u put tops of doors on, alot of little details are missing, but most are their.

Make one videos of the Land Rover 1/12 sácale fms vs the Land Rover mn99s 1/12 scale
Stunning lil rig, hope your having an awesome holiday.
Would love one of these one day.
Yeah, having a great time
What happens if you disconnect the indicators or cut the wires ? does it still function ok ?
Yeah, I think they might be okay.
I wasnt expecting the lager. Whilst swigging a bottle of stella lol 😅
Wow, that's a seriously good-looking scale model. FMS have done a bang up job. 👍
Wondering...what are the holes at the rear for? Did FMS miss out any accessories?
Great video Phil!
Thanks dude
Good review , Perfect place for it .
Welcome to Canada👍🏼🤠🇨🇦
Certainly is 👌
This is my kind of pace i want in. Id like a nissan patrol gr like my dad had when i was a kid
SAY WHAT?!? There's Tim Horton outlets in England?
Oh, I get it. You're vacationing in Canada. Somewhere near a fort. Enjoy your stay, Phil.
Yes, although we do have a few in the UK. Not the same though
Rover’s are not my cup of tea. But still a great vid at a beautiful location. 👍
That is definitely not meant to sit on a desk or shelf somewhere awesome vid incredible view !!!
I agree!
Think I would defo go for the blue one! And when will we see that big orange Defender back on the channel matey?
I still have it.. so maybe I need a winter project. Needs new axles/gears
@TomleyRC I swapped in some of those Chinese ally jobbies from ebay on mine it works brilliantly needs custom links though as the mounts are in different places on the axles as for the gearbox it hasn't broken yet! Nice car. Put a furytech inside and it will be even more scale
Yes, that would be so good in there
I like it.... And now I need one😆👍
Truck cab or hard top selection, come on Phil…… know your landys 😂
Lovely little model.
Even the diffs are positioned correctly 👍🏻
I’m not a Land Rover Fanboy haha…
What a great little truck. And, if im not mistaken, you're in St Johns, Newfoundland? 😉
🎼 Even emotions have an echo is so much scale! 🎶
😇
@@TomleyRC Halo there, how are you and how etc etc
Anyone know where I can get a very detailed 2015 Land Rover Defender 110 in white? Doesn't have to be RC by the way.
Hope you enjoyed your time in Newfoundland!
Yes, it was awesome
Im starting to loke FMS just a little bit more now, and i dont even own one.
Phil, you are 3700kms closer to your 105mph Infraction! Still 2800kms (by car) away though... 😉
Did you notice that the Land Rover box has a very slight wood grain pattern on it with holes for a rope handle?
Haha… a little closer. No, I’d not noticed!
Maybe they made the wheels bigger to improve the capability offroad.
Classic Tomley 😎
😎🤘
That is one awesome scale model rc awesome vid
Did you notice you have a idle mode?
Ayyy!!!! Welcome to Canada Phil!! Enjoy Newfoundland b'y!
Yes b’y
having had a couple land rovers Inc a s2 I think I need one. looks great and goes well👍
Love the content your always an inspiration to my channel and love the tripod 😂

Got to love an old landy 😊 I hope your able to meet up with matt (SBG) wile your in canadianland 😅 he sounded really excited to see you on last week live take over 😂👊🏼🤙🏼🇬🇧💨💨

That yellow is an odd shade of orange ... ;)

How fast can it go? Does it manage a walking pace?
Newfoundland. Where the moose are crazy
I kept expecting a Geography lesson from Signal Hill.
I’ll take you there in a few years 😇
I heard that Lager can be a pain in the behind.
It’s okay after the first one 😅
Those wheels looked yellow cos of all that 80s pine in kitchen. 🤣
Haha
I thought Canada kicked the Brits out in the 80s lo.😂😂😂

🤣🤣
I wish they’d stop putting turn signals on everything
I agree!
Bmw mod
I know it’s stupid to some people but I kinda like it but you should be able to turn them left and right your self
Why can’t you just unplug them?
Me too
i grew up 30mins from St.Johns.....what brought you all this way
Canada!
So that’s where my coffee money goes eh! 🙄😂😂😂
Haha… true story
I thought it was funny when you said it was windy after putting the airbender as a driver.
