Thanks for the heads up. I won't be "migrating" to Win 11. From Win 3.11 to my three registered copies of Win 10 - I am finally, finally done with this sh*t.

It’s almost as if Microsoft wants people to switch to Linux. I can’t think of any other reason to repeatedly shoot one’s foot over and over again with constant missteps.

I think they figure most of the population can't even find the settings in Windows let alone figure out how to make a boot-able USB drive. Steam-OS currently on the Steam Deck is the closest thing I have seen that if it comes to Mainstream systems and takes off more could actually get people to switch. I have honestly though never seen so many people switching to Linux in my life since the Steam Deck came out...

I switched in 2008. Everything I've heard about MS since has reinforced my confidence in that decision.

I've stuck with Microsoft simply out of convenience, despite all the crap they were pulling. But now with the AI Copilot bullshit (it literally records EVERYTHING you do...and take screenshots) and other stuff I will literally be switching to Linux and using virtualization to run software I can't find on Linux. They literally made me do it. Its too much. Fuck that.

  • @bojcio

This is literally insane, the amount of damage that can be done by simply forgetting to log out. Imagine staying logged into your outlook on a public computer for example. Its insane. Its crazy. Someone can have access to EVERYTHING you do if you forget to log out. I can't even begin to comprehend why someone would do that.

Do they have a special division to implement bad decisions?

My suspicion is that this is not entirely Windows but pressure from certain 3 letter agencies who want everyone's data at all times.
"Nice Monopoly you geo there. Be a shame if it was... broken up. Now, if you just pass on all user data to us in real time nobody from the Department of Justice will be calling, savvy?"
Not that I think Microsoft is not eager to collect data on everyone to sell anyway. I am just stating there is likely stick as well as carrot for Microsoft here.

I just have my browser configured to clear stored cookies whenever I close the browser. Anyone who has computers that are publicly accessible should be set up this way.
This does not dismiss the issue, though, and there’s no legitimate reason that I can think of for Microsoft to make this decision.

I kind of like this change as I absolutely hate having to constantly re-login on my own devices, and in multiple applications. However, I have zero trust in this. It will stay logged in places I don't want, but still keep kicking me out of places I want to be logged in.

I ditched Win10 2 years ago, for Linux and haven't looked back. I only use a PC with Win10 for Fusion 360, and nothing else. Linux PC is my everyday 'driver'.
As an added bonus, I switch off my smartphone every night and put it in a metal box (faraday cage), and I also switch off my internet router as well.

The part I find myself thinking about is wondering how many folks out there already basically have their accounts already do this to some degree and thus their accounts are already and have been for a while, insecure.
I know at one point in time I just ticked that box to stay signed in so I wouldn't have to type my password in again and again, but well, I'm a socially reclusive hermit who is stuck in Rural Indiana, so like, the only devices I'm signing into ARE my own :P

Either way you should always make sure to sign out when in foreign computers. Microsoft also allows you to go password less by using an Authenticator. You have no idea how many failed login attempts per day I see in the app’s history.

You can be signed into the same account on multiple PCs. I have local accounts on all my PCs and signed into microsoft services on each one. No issues. So I'm not so sure this is an issue.

  • @philipfirks7755

Am I missing something here? Several comments about people switching to Linux - but it's the email that is the issue here surely. If you sign in to Hotmail on Linux, won't it still keep you signed in? I think staying signed in (on any OS) is an awful idea, with security risks built in.

A definition of inconveniencing convenience. Glad I am not using this account AT ALL. There it cries sidelined and degraded to a standard user account, forgotten. Might even unistall it if the big boss lets me. If I go on a holiday I don't want to read my emails, unless it is a working holiday. And for those busy folks there are portable computers they can take with them everywhere, as they indeed usually do. But what if the computer crashes and cannot be revived?

Another Dumb move by Microsoft. What is is going on. I miss the good old days of windows when you just used your computer as u saw fit no forcing of Microsoft accounts no forcing people to move on to another version of windows. I also think the windows insider program show be disbanded they ( meaning Microsoft don’t listen to us anyways. )
I have been on the dev channel for a few months now and no really big improvements Microsoft listen to your customers
Ps sorry for the rant it’s just Microsoft is really making me mad

As I have read elsewhere, after Microsoft keeps your Microsoft Account signed in to Windows, they will integrate OneDrive in Windows without you realizing your data is now in the CLOUD and controlled by Microsoft. Thus, Windows HELLO security may be forced upon all of us. Not a good step if you think about it. Microsoft is playing with us all. Look ahead to what is really going on.

    • @DeadHorse666
      @DeadHorse666 7 дней назад +1

This is why it's more important than ever to get off of windows at all cost even if it means leaving windows installed on a virtual machine if the transition will be slow. The more people keep using it, the more they can keep forcing these kinds of things.

  • @Senliast

Thats not a problem at all. Actually its default behavior of most websites to stay signed in, and its annoying that MS site asks every time if i want to stay signed in and actually anyway signs me out, even if i answer yes. So i hope with this change, i dont need to login 1000 times again and again. Regarding forgetting to sign out on foreign PC - well its something you should not forget, and if you do - you are at fault yourself. Ah and BTW, there is such a thing as private window.
