Great song! Loved this song since i got my first Harley 25 years ago. This resonates with a me because of my lifestyle that im glad i made it through. Reckless Kelly does a great version too!
Not just the greatest motorcycle song ever written, the greatest song ever written. More folks should know about Richard Thompson, one of the greatest singer song writers of all time. Compare and contrast "Beeswing" and " Tear Stained Letter" Absolutely no one has his range and genius guitar work. He plays this song unaccompanied on guitar, you would swear it was two people.
I have an elder friend who rode a Vincent. He said they were not just scary fast but also made to the measurements of the rider. I don't know how legit that is, but I do know as a rider of Brit bikes in the 70s that they could be fast but were far more about the handling. I rode a Norton and it was for all the quirks the sweetest bike I ever rode.
Was at this show and it was unbelievable; not my favorite but still, what a talent. Got to see them in Harrisonburg, Pa a couple years later and there’s no loss of performance putting on a fantastic show.
what about Arlo Guthrie's The Motorcycle Song, (rhymes with dill pickle) all 62 verses?! No-?! Okay just thought I'd suggest since Richard Thompson didn't get a laugh or cover it- yes huge Arlo fan here... Are nipple stickers what they used to call "pasties"?! Friggin far out as the hippies used to say. Unusual voice sir- I love this song - like your singing voice must say much diff than your speaking voice and the bottle-neck- fab- this is such a marvellous song, yet another version can't hurt. Namaste Zoe
Uniquely Peyton. I myself have Reckless Kelly's as my favorite; I've never had the privilege to ride a VIncent, but their way of accelerating the pace of the song makes me think of shifting gears on one of my bikes.
@@Recycledhooligan Personally not a fan of the version I watched. I checked out a couple of other songs by him and added him to my play list. Especially "To leave something behind".
@@dss2856 the version I saw was a solo acoustic version just him & his guitar oh well to each his own have you heard his version of Lukenbach Texas yet?
I have heard people speak with a similar speech impediment, where they uncontrollably emphasize syllables, but I have never heard anyone use it as a technique in singing. I also hate slide dobro played that way, so while these performers are unique and God bless them for that, they would not be on my bucket list of bands to hear before I die. In fact, I wish I could have back the time I spent listening to them here...
Not just the best motorcycle song ever, but the best song ever. Period
Great song! Loved this song since i got my first Harley 25 years ago. This resonates with a me because of my lifestyle that im glad i made it through.
Reckless Kelly does a great version too!
I just found this and it is fffffffking awesome. Huge RT fan and huge Rev fan. How have I never seen this.
Love these guys! Saw them in Leeds UK. a few years back ! Great concert loaded with energy! Come back to Leeds Rev., Breezy and Max !
Richard Thompson is a genius. Cool how you make this song you own- what a great band
Seconded! Thanks to the Reverend. Most thanks to Richard Thompson's genius.
That was some good work on a great song.
Awesome version, he does it justice!

Vincent is a beautiful bike,
Fantastic
Excellent!
Kicking down the road once more
Vincent Black Lightning is probably the sexiest, cool motorbike ever made
superb
There can be far more to the message of a performance than the technical musicality of it. Look at the crowd. They get it. Me, too.

Never thought the Rev would do this song.I agree that Del McCoury's is a great version also.
I know...., I know...., but when any mention of the "Rev", ...... I immediately think of Horton Heat. : )
Please listen to the Sean Rowe version it’s pretty great
You guys rock
This is a song about Motor-sicals apparently! Loved the version.

Please listen to the Sean Rowe version of this song,& another motorcycle song colter wall motorcycle
Work that geeeeetaaaar! Good one!
If he played this song at the South Dakota motorcycle convention like this, I'm surprised he made it out alive.
The Rev probably had them eating out of the palm of his hand
The thing that makes most sense is Charlie Day as the drummer. I bet they all share a toe knife
Many mediocre covers of this song (See my version "Norton Commando 1972" on RUclips) but I approve of this. I have ridden a Vincent.

Grandma always said if you can't say something nice about somebody don't say nothing at all... So I wont.
This is a great cover but it's actually called '1952 Vincent Black Lightning' not 'Vincent Black Lightning 1952'. It's still a fun cover though!
1. He does
2. I'd do Breezy
NOT my favorite version of this song. However hthey gave props where props were due, to the GREAT Richard Thompson, and Del McCourey.
Please listen to the Sean Rowe version & tell me what you think

You got that right.
here it is 2018 and Breezy is still wearing that same dress....come on REV get her some new threads
Sexist and pathetic.
I thought it was a piss take on the great Richard Thompson
1:43 he starts the song.
Better than the original!
Sorry , but no.
Have to say dac, panheads forever .... pretty near the top
lol
WTF did I just listen to?
no no no !!!
Worst version of this song I´ve heard.
Rough and ugly cover. Not without its charms. Hi does he play slide without a bottle neck?

seriously, see them live , his talent as a guitarist has to be heard to be believed.
Diffren strokes for diffren folks babe. That's what makes life interesting...
fawcems rather stupid reaction
Go listen to some pop crap.
So far this and Del McCourey are the worst versions of this I've heard
