Dude! What did we say back in 2020 about how your channel was destined to blow up? Look at you now!!! Amazing work mate. so cool to see you growing and flourishing. Well deserved

Thanks Luke! Some days are great, some are not, but I keep going and got some well timed videos that helped out! Still a grind! How is life treating you these days?

Very cool. I switched from FCP to Premiere Pro quite a while ago. It has been rock solid, and in fact, I had more crashes with FCP than I do with it.

I was already surprised to see you post a positive video about PP. I am still a PP user and it has been rather stable for me on Windows compared to other apps. Also they have some features like this text based editing and also the auto remix (audio) that keeps me from moving away. I'm afraid they'll add more for me to keep holding on to it. 😂🤣 Never heard of Gling before. That seems to be very handy. Thanks for sharing.

I was surprised as you are! Really enjoying it lately, still clunky overall but the new features are gold! And once they add generative fill - it’ll be game over!! (Well at least for a bit)

Maybe I’m missing something here, but it seems a bit redundant to me to remove unwanted takes and footage from the A roll using Gling then doing it again with Premiere. I would think you can use Gling to lock in your A roll edit, then tidy up the cuts/add b roll/graphics/audio/etc in Premiere or FCPX. Still faster than cutting out unwanted footage manually, but keeps that first pass in one platform, then using the second platform to get creative.

Love the video, good on you for being agile... I too hated Premiere pro in recent years but now revisiting and entertaining the idea of adopting it again. Especially now with the new AI tools. Looks like Adobe are getting their act together, not had any crash issues yet.. auto save now built in really helps. Thinking now Premiere Pro for editing and maybe use Davinci for colour grading and rotoscoping.

So what I'm trying to figure out is if it's worth it to get Gling. I'm confused. You will cut out silences manually in premiere first? (Which by now you can do with only a few clicks in premiere) and then import to Gling to do text based editing and then import it back into premiere to again do text based editing? I feel like Premiere can do everything Gling does except for auto cutting bad takes which would be an amazing tool to have (hopefully premiere will integrate this soon). But since cutting out the silences and text based editing is already possible (and manually scanning for repeat takes) to me I'm not sure if Gling is worth the money. Or is Gling really that much better? Is the silence detection and repeat mechanism that good? Like what if you, during recording, decide after a whole section to redo that whole bit, will it be able to detect that and automatically cut it into a coherent video for you? Excited for your feedback.

Premiere Pro is just getting started but not as streamlined as Gling. I start in Gling, let it transcribe, remove silences and bad takes, I scan through the selects and quickly make refinements - I playback at 2x speed in Gling to listen to the flow - and make final refinements - then export to xml and transcribe in Premiere to do the final edit there. Premiere is a bit backwards, where you have to manually make the selects and drop it on the timeline, Gling you remove the bad takes and silences that are on the timeline. I find that workflow better, it's more reductive than additive, at least for this first stage. Less clicks gets you closer to that first rough cut - and one step closer to the Final Cut. Gling is free to try out -I'd recommend that and see how it flows for you. It's best for content that is scripted or where multiple takes are needed.

@@RafaelLudwig Hey, thanks for the reply. Actually you can do that in Premiere. Go to filter, then change the settings to how long of a silence it detects and then go back to filter and click filter by silence, then delete all! Unfortunately it won't cut out false takes (yet) but hopefully soon. I can still go through pretty quickly to check the text and I can visually see where I'm repeating myself. But yeah Gling does sound good. I will try it soon. But it works based on how long the video is right? I'm tempted to cut out the silences with just a few clicks in premiere first and then uploading to gling so I use less credit, but I don't know if that works and if it recognises cuts, cause then I might end up with annoying singular frames. Is the silence detection mechanism good? And how does it work with repeat takes? Will it detect it only if the same sentence is said again or will it recognise that you're redoing the whole segment just slightly different? Even if it's 10 min later in the video and not right after the first attempt?

Thanks for your video. I only wish that you could make edits to the transcript which I have found is not always accurate. I also found that It cut out the "ahs" in the transcript but not from the audio. Seems like Descript may have done a better job.

One thing I run into that is annoying with the Premiere edit side. Is that when I delete a pause or a section of text it almost always leaves a .1 second pause that I also have to delete. Is there way to make the cuts tighter?

  • @AndresArosemena

Great video Rafael, how come you don't do the transcription within Premiere Pro instead of using Gling first?

    • @RafaelLudwig

Gling automatically detects and removes silences and bad/repeat takes. And it's getting more accurate with every update.

Hey I just got GLING and I really like it. Here is just a question I have. The program provides me with an XML file that's compatible with Adobe Premiere. 📁
Here's where I could use some help: How do I sync this already-edited XML file with the high-quality audio I recorded separately and that is not edited yet? 🎤

Gling hasn't implemented a Multicam workflow to PP yet. Jump into their discord they may have a workaround that's better. Thanks for watching and the comment!
