A busy few days there. I never did like the sound of thunder while sailing. They always say, “Don’t stand in an open field when there’s lightning.” Oh, OK!
Anyone whom lives through a lightning strike, refits, and carries on in just a couple of weeks, gets my respect ! Very curious where you end up wintering at.
Don't forget your topsail, it's the light air secret weapon! With the right setup you can easily set and douse quickly so you can use it a lot. Set up inside the lazy Jack's and store lashed to the boom. Lovely sail for sailors.
Interesting peek into what it's like out there for you, with changing wheather and currents and no engine. I recently bought a 25' gaff rigged wooden double-ender as my first sailboat. It was designed as a small Colin Archer pilot boat and does look the part. As a green sailor, I have much to learn and a long way to go, so it's great to follow along on Ruth Avery and see how it's supposed to be done. My boat does have a small electric inboard, which I appreciate for leaving and entering harbour. But once out in the open, she will be a sailboat. She has to, the engine is weak and the batteries don't last very long 🙂 Thanks for all the inspiration! I learn something new in every video.
There's a video on youtube of a guy jumping in the water with a whale shark... except it turned out to be a great white. Luckily he scrambled back on the boat.
Is it fine to sail over the tunnel as long as not in the shipping channel? I hate that spot. Probably because 2 of 3 times were wit a gale behind me and rest way overdue
If it was a whale shark, that would be pretty amazing. It had to be a young one because they hold records for size in the animal kingdom. They can reach up to 61 feet! So many fascinating creatures out there!
Did your new AIS survive the lightening strike? I bought an Icom AIS that I really like, color display, etc. I'm liking Icom products. It's pretty cool how you become an armature weatherman when you sail.
Awesome. Sailing content that isn't motoring and motor sailing as an answer to the majority of situations.
There's a reason they call him Kevin "the goat" Boothby.
His boat doesn’t even have a motor
Excellent video with varying weather conditions and real sailing.
You never disappoint Kevin with your videos...thanks for the real sailing adventures

Great video!
Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable video.
Peaceful way to wrap this video. Thanks, as usual.
Thanks for stopping by, Mike, hope all is well.

You got a little of everything.

You have excellent taste in sailing videos Robert.

I'll pass on the swim with sharks fad, lol.
@@howtosailoceans1423 😆😆
I was beginning to think that you might need a bigger boat.
Ha!

You can sail in the shipping channel, just watch out for approaching ships and move off to the side if you see one.
I wondered if it was an Ocean Sunfish (mola shark) by the way the fin wobbled about.
Pretty sure it was a whale shark, could make out a "constellation" forward of the fin.

One day, i will have a code zero like Kevin 🙂
Lol! Your ticket to the cool club.

Yes, the Garmin 800 is still functioning fine, so far as I know.
These updates seem to be getting further and further away from the recording date. July info not appearing until the end of October???
Yeap I'm not into that at all
They're not updates. He'd get stalkers turning up at the dock wanting to bond if they were.
What do you want? Sailing videos or a news channel? I don’t care if the videos are a year old.
@@smokingkippers1173 Bwahahahahah! Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason! Bwahahahaah!
Love them even if they are a year old
