Aw when the last guy came out after changing I fell in love with him. His family deadass brought him on the show because how he expresses himself, you can't change someone just to make yourself comfortable. Yet he was still confident and did THAT.

I love how the MCs are so supporting of the last boy who love wearing make up. It makes him less awkward and be able to show how passionate he were in make up. I don't think it's a bad thing though.. because at least he have a dream of what he's going to be. Isn't that good? Just that he needs to refrain himself from practicing during school times.. other than that, it's perfectly fine. Older generation are not as open minded as the younger generation so I kinda understanding how his grandmother feel. I also hope the boy will be more confident of his bare face because I seriously think he look good even without make up :)
I think people need to realize that there are guys that likes to cross-dress, wear make-up and still like girls. Just because you like those two things doesn't mean you should automatically assume that they're gay. Same thing w/ his sister. She does taekwondo but noone assumes anything of it. I hope people start correlating "feminine" activities to just one gender. Sure, it's odd, but if you look at the industry, most makeup artists and hair stylists are men and not all of them are gay. Aside from this, that guy reminds me of JO KWON. I can't be the only one who thinks this!!! He LOOKS like him, SOUNDS like him, and DANCES like him. Can they meet and collab??!!

Handled the wrong way the third concern is why kids get depression. I hope the family doesn't push him to change. People change on their own and the more you force, the more resistance you get. I'm glad he is strong- willed and opinionated- his grandmother is kind of stuck in the olden ways but she looks caring enough not to push him to do something he doesn't want to.

She was worried about mean comments and bullying, more important is make-up is forbidden in school. They could literally kick him out. I understand her concerns but I fully agrree with him, he should wear anything he wants. He said that he came here to say that he likes girls. This is a terrible situation because he said he can’t even talk to his friends because of bullying in school.
I am happy to discover him in 2018. He has a dance crew called “Red Crew” and he literally kills it in Seoul streets. He is still young and so talented. I don’t know if he wants that but he can be an idol or a dance leader in a company. I hope that he works hard and archives anything he wants. I love and support him. He looks so happy in streets dancing.

Tbh... I think the guy in the last concern was kinda bullyied before, so for that he explained that he does like girls. Even if he like girls or not, he don't have anything to explain. If he's happy about what he's doing, then he should keep doing it and ignore the negative people. Btw, Yezi's advices were on point to all the 3 concerns.
Seriously, the girl in the last concern needs to get over it, and let her brother live his life. It's one thing for her to perhaps give him good sibling advice, but not trying to control what & how he chooses to do things. So what he likes wearing make up & doing idol girl dances for hobby? It's not the end of the world nor does it put anyone in danger. He needs to live his own life, the same she needs to live her own. S. Korea can be very hypocritical at times, it's unbecoming.

@@kurola4511 he definitely used the word "heug-in" which means "black person". the korean word for "african" sounds the same as the english form so he definitely didn't say that. the most accurate translation of what he said would be "Black person's lips" but they mistranslated it as "african lips" probably because they thought it would sound less extreme that way.

guys I can't stand for this any longer. I'm so tired of these useless 'concerns' that keep popping up these days. If you read the description box it says this about the last concern : ' I'm worried about my younger brother. He's in high school, but he always wears full makeup. He wears hot pants and heels and does girl group dances. What's wrong with him?' I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND. Isn't it obvious? Maybe hes gay. Maybe he just likes it. Maybe he feels good about himself when he wears it. Its literally self explanatory. The only concerning thing about that concern is that he puts makeup on when he should be studying in school. Literally. i feel like there are so many more important concerns out there that deserves to be on hello counselor and its concerns like this one and the other one where the girl embarrasses her uncle and says there's something wrong with him that is being picked.
Maybe its just me that feels like this but I've been watching hello counselor for a looong time and its these concerns that really irritate me. oh, and gives me second hand embarrassment. However, even after saying all this, I do think it was a good choice for him to come because he did clear up the misunderstandings his friends etc had about him :)
I totally agree with you! some concerns are frustrating because there's nothing wrong with them, I admire his confidence and he seems like a great guy I don't know why they made a big deal out of it.

Korea is much more sensitive to things like this compared to many western countries. Korea is very very anti-gay and the stereotypes about gays (Like the one about liking makeup) have much more effect.

I understand that it might be hard for the grandmother that is from another generation to understand that her grandson like to style himself in a way that isn't traditionally manly, but I really don't see any harm in what he is doing. If he's happy, what's the problem? I think it's unfair that makeup is reserved for girls only.

i saw this boy dancing at hongdae when i go to to seoul last year.. He dance sooo welll and im very proud of him he even dance with hot pants even though it was freezing cold it shows how much he wants the audience to enjoy his performance along with his friends.. I really did not come out for this hello counselor hearing that he got depressed makes me want to go back to Hongdae,Seoul and give him a letter saying that he is the BEST and Amazing performer and entertainer I ever seen.. "A boy shouldn't wear red lipstick." Last time I checked, makeup wasn't just available to women. Lipstick doesn't not specify any gender, therefore it can be worn by any gender. Boy or girl, makeup can be used by anybody and gender or sexuality does not matter. I hate how sexist they are sounding. Just let him wear makeup and be happy. He is not offending anybody nor is he affecting anybody's life. They act like being gay is some type of sin, but of course; It's Korea. They are not so open on subjects like sexuality and honestly, I don't know why his sister sent in a concern. It doesn't seem that bad. The guy is happy and dancing to what he wants. I can't understand why his family doesn't want to support him. Makeup or not, he's your brother/grandson. Makeup will not change his personality and you should love him for who he is, not what he wears or what kind of things he's into. They shouldn't take the mean comments on SNS so seriously. Others can't change him into who they want. He should be himself and if his family or friends can't accept him for his true self, then they are a horrible excuse for a "loving" family.

I’m actually following Lee Gangyong on Instagram, and I was really surprised when I heard he was in here. I thought there was nothing wrong and that others thought that way as well but apparently I was wrong. If it’s what he likes doing, then let him do it. I’m also very glad to see people support him.

For the last boy, I don't think him wearing makeup is a problem, it might just be the cultural difference, but the fact that he feels more confident about himself when he's wearing makeup even though he is really attractive without it as well, is actually pretty normal. Some people just don't like how they look, some come to like themselves while others just don't. I was like this, and now I am pretty pleased with how my face is minus the acne XDThe fact that he wants to make a career out of it impressed me, he has a plan which is great. I understand that different generations have differents views, but they can always create a compromise that works out for both ends. :)

I honestly don't care if guys wear makeup, but I can understand where the sister is coming from. It's socially unnatural, but at the end of the day it's just makeup. If you were to take away all the social constructs of what's feminine and what's masculine, there would be no issue.
It's considered feminine to wear makeup, but the first people to ever wear makeup were men in ancient Egypt. Men in Ireland wear kilts, but it's seen as feminine in any other setting.

The last concern was Lee Gangyong! His girl group dances are on youtube if you want to see them, he's awesome! He is part of the red crew their most popular dance is "kill bill", although he has recently gone due to his military service but will hopefully return even more confident!

As long the Gangyong mah loves doesn't do bad things like stealing, bullying etc. to get the money he uses to buy make up, then why not? Not everyone has that kind of confidence, y'all should be proud of him for being him.
I see his dances too, and I love it a lot. He's not only a good dancer, he's a very, very talented performer. He has the expressions, the dance, and the confidence. I admire his ability to mesmerize people with his dance. His confidence is everything.
Edit:see? She's a taekwondo instructor, something you could consider "manly" yet she can't accept that his brother on the feminine side. Whether you have make up or not, there will always be people who'll judge you for how you look, so why not wear something that you actually want right?
Another edit: he said he loves girls, there's a difference between a femboy and gay, femboy is someone who wears or act femininely. Gay on the other hand, is being attracted to the same gender, they don't necessarily have to look feminine, they can be gay and still be very masculine at the same time.

2019, Hello Counser's recent episode where the last guy was in it (got to dance with Chungha,even!) brought me here. Was pretty surprised when he mentioned he was part of this show once. I didnt know the concern was him applying make up. There's nothing wrong with that. I admire this guy and he's well known internationally(like yesss) and i love him. HANDS DOWN!!! Always do what you love ♡

Gangyong's so fearless and unapologetic about who he is. He's just as much of a man for wearing makeup and short shorts as his sister is a woman for NOT wearing makeup and teaching Taekwondo. People are just people; the words "masculine" and "feminine" have arbitrary definitions; they don't actually represent the inherent traights of men and women, respectively. I have so much respect for him. I hope since this aired his family has come to better accept him; seeing this made me really sad, but also happy that he owned it and knowing that he's still going strong and doing what he loves.
