1. Platinum: there's only been 16 or so over the years (only 1 platinum at a time), that hero girl is the current platinum
2. Gold: Sword Maiden (and the rest of her party's unknown members, she and the others in her party defeated and sealed the demon lord)

the hero girl and sword maiden have nothing to do with each other at all
(GS and the hero girl do have a very small connection, but I'm already spoiling it a bit just by saying this, lol)

the scene with the hero girl and the skull guy... was/is current/present time... ocurring some where else in the world, as shown immediately with the guild members talking about it, before GS and team head down into the sewers in this episode

Cow Girl is just a childhood friend, GS' and Cow Girl are NOT siblings:
Cow Girl's parents were killed/raped when the goblins attacked their village, her uncle is now looking at her
And seemingly... young GS' only was living with his older sister... not sure if the manga/LN goes into what happened to GS' parents, or if he did have parents and they were just killed/raped as well (as his older sister) by the goblins when they attacked their village

Cow Girl: loves GS, she waits and waits and waits... for him to settle down and marry her... poor girl... she doesn't realize that Priestess stole him permanently from her back in episode 1, lol
Guild Girl: likes GS
Spearman: likes Guild Girl
High Elf Female Ranger: loves GS
Witch: she's one of the few females who's NOT infatuated with GS, lol. she's just a really good friend of GS
Female Knight (she's the blond girl with the armor, sword, and huge shield, and with the Heavy Swordsman as a party): she's one of the other few females, who's not infatuated with GS, lol
Sword Maiden: lusts GS... wink

if you want a little bit about the hero girl (the current platinum) --- this isn't really any spoiler stuff:
literally the "gods" (the game master) had her just "happen" to find the legendary sword within a goblin nest that she was doing a goblin slaying mission of... and then she "just happened" to guess where the skull guy's secret hideout/meeting was occurring... the "gods" (the game master), literally made her into the hero... she "rolls perfect scores" on everything...
so... there's nothing really special about her.... she's been literally given everything special/powerful/etc... she was "chosen/made" to be the "hero" in the present goblin slayer world's time.

yes, the slits in his helmet symbolize when young GS was looking up through the gaps in his house's floor boards, watching his older sister, right above him, getting goblin gang bang raped, tortured, killed, and eaten'ed.
the "red eye glow" is just used to symbolize his anger/rage/hatred/adrenaline towards goblins (similar with eren's titan form with the green eye and etc imagery)... there's no actual "inner demon" occurring like seen with Guts and his "red eye glow" while wearing the berserker armor....

young GS' and young Cow Girl's and her younger uncle's village was attacked by goblins. Young Cow Girl and her younger uncle left earlier in the day for town, so they were away and safe in the town, but young GS' older sister hid him under their house, as that was the only safe place and GS' older sister is "never wrong". Young GS watched up through the floor boards of his house at his older sister, right above him, getting goblin gang bang raped, possibly birthing out goblin babies too, tortured, killed, and then eaten'ed (possibly by the goblin babies, she possible had birthed out). She was killed and eaten'ed on the 3rd day... so possibly... she could have been getting goblin gang bang raped for 3 whole straight days non-stop.. the rest of the villages males were killed, and the females raped... including Cow Girl's parents...
A young noobie (porcelain-rank) Sword Maiden (possible she was the same age as Priestess at 15) went on her first guild mission... a goblin slaying mission (just like Priestess in episode 1)... and she got goblin raped (Priestess was about to be goblin-raped too, had GS not shown up), and the goblins also gouged-out/damaged/burned-out her eyes, along with all of her scars all over her body from their claws as they raped her. There was no GS coming to the Sword Maiden's rescue... like what happened with Priestess...
Though, despite her goblin rape, the sword maiden continues on adventuring, and her party ultimately defeats and seals the demon lord (but he's been resurrected and is trying to take over the world again). She then retires from adventuring, as the Arch Bishop of the temple in the water town that they're in right now in episode 7
10 years ago to 5 years ago:
young GS runs away, seeking vengeance on the goblins... and finds a teacher... who brutally trains young GS for 5 straight years. GS developed a very high pain tolerance and incredible endurance, and he has scars all over his body from his teacher's brutal training, along with probably having every bone in his body broken, again just from his teacher's brutal training, lol.
5 years ago to episode 1:
GS returns to the farm (which Cow Girl and her uncle had built where their village once stood), to protect them, and joins the guild in town, doing only goblin slaying missions. GS does goblin slaying missions, non-stop for 5 straight years, ALL BY HIMSELF, wiping out entire goblin nests, ALL ON HIS OWN. Needless to say, he doesn't need the Priestess' nor the rest of his team's help. In fact, they could be the cause the big injuries to himself that he's been having (episode 4 against the Ogre Magi v2 and now this episode 7 against the Goblin Champion). He uses (some of) the reward money to pay for his room and board at Cow Girl and her Uncle's farm.
Actually Goblin Slayer just care about priestess but isn't in love with her. I even hear than in novel, he date Guild Girl

GS: "The only good goblin, is one that never comes out of their holes" --- goblin xenocide is a good thing!
