I love watching your videos, it's encouraging for someone who is learning CW looking at POTA as the main QSO! It would be helpful to have subtitles for the morse if possible? Makes it fun to know I'm hearing the right thing!
@@anthonylwalker thanks so much Anthony. Massive +1 on subtitles. My favorite channels when I was learning was when they’d display the code live on transmit or receive. It is so helpful. I am brand new to videography and the software I currently use (insta 360 studio) is a struggle for me. Even adding simple text in video causes significant delay to me putting videos out. I can’t imagine copying the subtitles for all of the Morse code sent in an activation. I really admire and respect those that do that since it’s so helpful. Maybe this next week I’ll try a few new programs and see if they’re easier to put text/subtitles to…? 73 de KI7QCF

hahaha! I love it. You can see the smile on my face 1:37:38 when you came back that 3rd time. You are a legend and I think had I stayed on 40m a little later as the sun set you could've got me there too! :) That's great! I love my 891 + Atas120 as well, it's such an incredible mobile setup. Thanks for the 3-fer QSOs! I hope some day we can discuss CW while enjoying Minnesota's finest culinary experience! 😂
Thanks Forrest for the 2 QSO's and the new park! 14:00 and 1:56:20. Your signal came up in SC for 2nd QSO (after 00:00Z) Nearly fully dark at my QTH at 01:00Z on the 2nd QSO. What a great spot to set up and use a vertical! Beautiful area! Are you using any radials on the ground around your vertical? If not, give them a try. Takes a little longer to set up, but may boost your signal a little. Looks like you are making plenty of QSO's either way, but I would bet your DX will pick up if you add some wire on the ground around your vertical. Just a suggestion, I think you may have asked about radials / counterpoise in one of your other videos. Always good to work you and again, appreciate the QSO's 73. CU on the bands.
Thanks, Ed! Always a ton of fun to hear your callsign come in from South Carolina. Love your fist too! You always send great code. Yes this is the Wolf River Coil in the tripod configuration with three (very long) radials extending out in different directions. This antenna works great for me. But it works even better when I'm able to separate myself from the mountain ranges as much as possible. One of my favorite things about QRP CW operations is I've learned so much about antennas and propagations in what is a short timeframe. But I still don't totally understand counterpoises! 😂
@@Utahforrest Thanks for the kind words. For the record you are doing way better than I was back 30 years ago. 😀 I use a Wolf River Coil as well for my activations. I use 6 or 7 radials all spooled up on an old 500' plastic wire spool, with spring battery clips on the end of each one. I just clip' em to the tripod legs and spool them off of the reel. There are a LOT of things I don't understand about antennas and propagation, BUT, the old preacher Vance Havner used to say: I don't understand electricity, but I'm not sitting around in the dark until I do" 😂😂. I am with him.......I don't have to understand it all. Just use it and have fun!! 😂 CU on the air soon.
