  • Ripped from the Wayback Archive, the video Lambie-Nairn used to have on their website of the Play UK idents. They also had videos for Carlton and UK Style, Gold and Horizons. Unfortunately they were not archived.
I uploaded this mainly because these idents were never seen on TV in their full widescreen glory. UKTV didn't go widescreen until 2008, but as with the 1997 BBC idents, Lambie-Nairn produced all of its idents for UKTV in widescreen, just in case. (The BBC's own digital channels were of course in widescreen from the very beginning in 1998).
These were the second and last idents for the channel, and the first idents after the channel renamed from UK Play to Play UK. The channel closed in September 2002, a combination of low viewing figures, the channel's confusing mix of comedy and music, the fall of ITV Digital and the imminent launch of Freeview. In its place, UKTV launched two channels on the fledgling platform, UK Bright Ideas (repeats from UK Style and UK Food) and UK History (repeats from UK Horizons).
In 2003, UKTV launched UK G2, which in 2007 of course became Dave - in many ways the spiritual successor to Play UK, just with a more clear focus on comedy and entertainment.
