May the souls of all that perished rest in peace. This is one of the saddest thing I have ever seen. I live in Florida but have never desired a water side home....Nature can be so beautiful and also so cruel. You must say a prayer for all that lost their lives, they must haunt that sad place wondering why they were cut down in such a way. There is nothing to enjoy in such a sadness....
So eerie, I remember like it was yesterday when this happened and seeing these areas on the news. Heartbreaking at how many lives were lost , they broadcast all the tourist bodies on the beach and residence around. All the stories from survivors and families seperated. Aloha and mahalo for sharing
That was such an eerie video. Watching the tsunami at the start and then seeing it after was so surreal. It was so peaceful and the view from the top floor was stunning. Remembering the people lost and may they rest in peace
One very cool video. I can't believe how loud those locust were in the background. The place was stuck in time. Very eerie looking. Take care & stay safe.
Thank you for doing the video, it was amazing to see what happens when humans abandon an area and nature takes over. It seemed eerie to know the amount of death and destruction that occurred.
I have been in Phuket (2014) with my friends and Koh Samui (2019) as a solo traveller. In 2014, Me and my friends spent the night by the shore in phuket and I remembered getting awake every 15mins or so cause I was so paranoid of the waves. And I can’t help but imagine what happened to that exact spot I was lying on 10years ago... On the other hand, in 2019, I googled exact location of Koh Samui and was abit relieved to see it was on the other side of Thailand, and it’s location is secluded meaning should there be a tsunami, the island is protected by other islands so it won’t be hit (atleast not as hard as the ones facing the indian ocean)
Everyone feeling sorry and sympathetic and here I'm, thinking those innocent and restless souls stirring up every dawn to haunt the whole damned place still screaming for help to come.
My mom and my grandma brought me to the place after small tsunami hit my country in 2004 (malaysia) and the place had restaurant now and the place also had a stack of boats as a statue that destroy the area. Now im 12 years old
This is how things get abandoned in history. And we wonder why people left entire buildings alone. Because of stuff like this natural disasters and famine.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since this happened. I remember it like it was yesterday when it happened. Like so many people who watched this horrible catastrophe on TV, I can’t help thinking of all the poor innocent’s who perished that day…never suspecting what would occur that day. They and their families remain in my thoughts and prayers!🤷♂️😔🙏
Really brought back a lot of memories. We did 3 days with DVI teams moving bodies in Khao Lak. You should watch 'the impossible' movie...its very realistic.
I was a bit touched by the emotional feeling. But then your appearance at minutes 1:31 with burned face from the sun made me giggled right after feeling the disaster. Greetings from Sumatra, Indonesia.
20 years ago today and still remember how even though it was peak season in Bangkok the hotel (did not go to Phuket) was not super full but by the 28th to new years it was completely full how so many tourists were in cuts and bruises. The hotel pool area was also super full too as could not house so many of the survivors. There was quite a military presence I had never seen before
Is this the place that the movie ‘’The Impossible’’ was made after the tragedy? That real life movie was excellent, but also very sad for all the lives lost🥲
That place is scary to me. Who knows where these people died during that time and you didn't know you just walked on top of where they died before or just passed close to it
Wow. This is so dodgy. It needs to be demolished. Forces of Mother Nature at her best. I remember this story. Didn't think it was still standing. Thanks for the tour and take care.
My plumbing is making the exact same high-pitched noise at this moment as the insects in the background of this video and I couldn’t tell which was which!
That whistle in the background, I heard that on Koh Chang (Thailand) in 2015. That´s created by some kind of insects. I only ever heard it on Koh Chang, but nowhere else in Thailand. But I have been almost everywhere but not in the south (except Koh Samui). When I started the video I was like, this sound reminds me of something.

@@younglihying When in 2019 did you visit Samui? I have have been in Samui in June / July 2019. Samui is save from Tsunamis, since it is located at the Gulf of Thailand, which connects with the pacific ocean. The tsunami was on the indian ocean side in south-west Thailand.
SomTam Thai It was August 5 - 8 2019. It was only a short trip due to my work commitments but I really enjoyed Thailand’s paradise beaches. Such a beautiful country and I’m gonna come back someday :)
That's pretty interesting...a Hotel built into the rockface!! Please take care..we don't need to see into the casms and over the edges of things that bad!! Lol
Japan 2011, they were helpless. They tried their best to get out of harm's way but many still couldn't for unavoidable reasons. The Japanese people had all the right warning systems in place etc. But 2004, i think around 70% died because they had no idea what was going to hit them and what they were up against. Many infact went to the beaches to swim in the Tsunami. Unfortuantely, many were ignorant at that time.
The real events of that movie were in Khao Lak, where many more people died than in Phuket where this abandoned hotel is located. This hotel was very early in construction when the tsunami hit, almost certainly only foundations. The majority would've been built afterwards, though it was never completely finished.
5:08 i think this is where the scene took where the naughty students and the "survivors" saw the ghosts watching them on the balcony in Make Me Shudder 3 (btw this is a movie)
Oh my god. That fella is going to get skin cancer. He’s cremated. The whole resort looks like something that could be used to film an apocalypse film. It’s very eerie. And so sad when you think of how many people died.

Amazing just how quickly plants start of reclaim the space. And how quickly concret decays when not looked after.
Ikr, structures never last long without care.
Unless it's the great wall... they used rice in the mortar. Gives it elasticity

This insects sound like an alarm of a building
17 years ago, that incident is still in my memory. You have the courage to go back and explore the area there.
I think it's pretty safe now. Probably didn't require *that* much courage TBH 🙄
So sad. So many lives lost that day. Rip to them all. 🙏🌹

I'd say that was an offering to the souls lost.

The chicken and eggs are offered to death souls , its not strange in that country.
Probably best to stay away at that place. Spirits usually looms around
Actually it’s not the dead you have to be worried about it’s the living.😬
That was my thoughts exactly.

Amazing footage, especially the shot at 11:25.
8:45 -- It looks like an offering to the dead, especially with the burnt red incense sticks.

Oh bearded one, please take care of your skin!!! from concerned melanoma survivor!!
I actually loved the noise it adds to the creep factor, crazy I know 😅
I CANT BELIEVE THE WATER GOT UP THAT HIGH SO SCARY.GREAT VIDEO.THE BUGS WERE LOUD.
I've seen that hotel from the beach, but never got up close to it.. Just came back from Phuket about 2 months ago...thanks for the video..
This reminds me of the series" Life after people"
The death toll, as well as the economic impact, heart breaking!💔
Really brought back a lot of memories. We did 3 days with DVI teams moving bodies in Khao Lak. You should watch 'the impossible' movie...its very realistic.
My favorite movie
I watched it and it what got me into tsunamis.
Me to
DEAR God!!!
I’m watching the movie “ Impossible “ now amazing.
I saw that movie and it's very sad movie
What a great video! Looks like mother nature has begun reclaiming back it’s land.
Amen.
Nilo, no. It's God's anger. The worst is yet to come... Apocalypse... Be blessed

Very sad diseaster 😥 What a shame....the building could be made liveable for weekenders who want to rough it.
You're doing a great man! Thanks.
O Mein Gott, wie Stark doch die Flut war. Danke dem Filmer. Eure Verena Steiner aus der Schweiz 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭😍😻 p
I bet this was beautiful!
Really interesting video. Thanks for sharing it with us 👍
The music is sad. Makes me cry
Awesome job on this exploration
This would have been a beautiful resort.

The hotel from that movie is called, Khao Lak Orchid Beach Resort.
Very good movie indeed.
What's the title of the movie?
What's the title of the movie?
@@chezzamaeomamalin8771 The Impossible- is the name of the movie
That was a really beautiful hotel.
You speak in such a whisper, that I can not hear you even with the volume all the way up. 😐
I can hear fine. Must be your device
Completely agree. Can’t hear him.
So sad...the loss of lives...the destruction 😢
COOL video#1 thanks 🌿
What was the hotel called
Cenário de terror! 😭🇧🇷
What hotel was this ?
I live in Phuket Thailand and I was born 6 years after the tsunami struck I still go to the beaches BTW.
Good video, only thing is that noise hurt my ears. Maybe making closed captions available for your videos if you're able?
That place is scary to me. Who knows where these people died during that time and you didn't know you just walked on top of where they died before or just passed close to it
No... you didn't kill them....So is OK.
Construction had only started a few months before the tsunami, there wouldn't have been an actual hotel there at the time.
They most likely got swept away
Wow. This is so dodgy. It needs to be demolished. Forces of Mother Nature at her best. I remember this story. Didn't think it was still standing. Thanks for the tour and take care.
Must have been a beautiful hotel, which it was and the water kept coming. Be careful. Just painful to see.awesome place area at one time.
what a spooky place ,you keep imagining all the poor souls that perished that day, let's hope they are at rest .
Great video you deserve more attention the production quality is so high
which place....

People in the future will say "this was a temple"
It looks this place is quite clean and no Broken things are available there .. it is a huge place and haunted too..
Not to be insensitive but I’m surprised there aren’t any old dead bodies to be found in this hotel. I’m sure there are remains somewhere.

How far HD cameras have come.

Cool thx, I wanna know how it was before
Wow, they never renovated the place, just left it as it is. What about the surrounding hotels?
Isn’t there a rule about not exploring in short apparel and open toed shoes?
The top floor was undamaged from the Tsunami. That entire top floor has been looted or stripped by the owners.
Amazing footage, you don't look old enough to have an old man beard by the way 😂👌
I searched this place after i watched the movie THE IMPOSSIBLE on Netflix and then i found this video. 😟😔
Same I never even saw the movie I watched some behind the scenes was pretty cool!
Same
Me too. Just done watching the movie. 3/16/21

The sound is so scary 😨
Insect's are supposed to be there..not you.
High pitched insect sounds in SE Asia seemed common when I was there. It isn't scary, though can be a bit wearing as it gets pretty loud.
Thought I had tinnitus for a while there...
Was the pool extra long or waz it just the video
But why did they have to shut down the resort, it is a natural calamity, does not happen every time, such a good place
Your volume was extremely low, but I appreciate this video.
The foid that was left on the top floor is an offering to the spirts. Somebody is looking out for the place x
Food
Removed furniture?
Wait this hotel was operational 15 years ago wasn't it? I thought the damage was due to the tsunami.
ที่นี่อยู่ประเทศไทยใช่ไหม ?
Human: -0
MOTHER NATURE: +100
I'd leave gardening tools and let people do a little cleaning up 😁
i watched this while mute the background sound.
1:34 welcome to Thoiland
What is that sound ... ?
Salt water and the shear force of the water and debris.
Your sunburn looks painful 🥺
Phuket it man , just Phuket
Guess it is pretty hot there..I think you’re boiling.
SO SAD 😔
200,000 deaths!!! That's crazy
Phuket, let's look for another hotel! 😂
It's put me off fish and Coconuts. From Paradise to Hell in a blink. So fragile. 🙏
Lynn, what paradise ? Prostitution, depravation. And God's anger. In a blink.
The worst is yet to come. Apocalypse. Be blessed.
How sad really..who would day this heaven.like place was full of life.it seems a grave now
thats how the world will look like in like 3000 years
