That wall, the river bank and islands too! I'd be on that place all week! I know how productive the islands can be in the Tri-State area (IA, IL, WI) of the Mississippi River. We have a 16' jonboat that we take out to the islands with gravel bars and camp during the summer. Rock hound by day and fishing at night. Fresh catfish cakes and camp coffee are a Great way to meet the Sun. I have to agree with #KatyDid. From what I could see in the video, the lack of wood type grain makes those pieces look like some of the bone fragments in my collection. Always a cool find. That was a cool thing that you did when you gave the girls that pet wood. KUDOS Sir! That one kind act of sharing could make a rock hound for Life! Again, Thanks for sharing your trip. As always, Good Luck, Have Fun and Keep on Houndin' Steve...
Yeah its a hard location to step away from and really you could fill a truck with cool rocks to tumble and not even make a dent in it. Thanks for watching.
I actually got to work on those cooling towers your looking at, I love how you can spot them from miles away cause the steam goes so high up into the air. My boss an I got to do some efficiency upgrades to them while a change out of the reactor fuel was being done, they only have one active reactor now that is producing power called the Columbia Generating Station. Was one of the coolest jobs I’ve worked on being only 20 yrs old an not having any formal training or even a high school diploma… I now have got some formal education thanks to Bates tech college and am working towards my own cooling tower company 🤘🏽
It’s a dangerous area but they monitor everything down to the water table with ground water devices to make sure the contaminants don’t further spread an the clean up efforts are going quiet well given the massive task at hand. The men an woman who work their risk their lives to continue the efforts of fixing a very long an ongoing problem caused from miscalculations 60 - 80+ years ago! Happy rock hounding I’m going to have to take a look into this area next time I’m their🤘🏽
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful day with us CR. Lovely stone goodies for all sir! That larger waterline agate is really very nice. Always wanted to make one of those larger ones into a stamp with my initials or my name and address for stamping envelopes! haha Have a great week my fellow rock hungry hound.
Those holes in the bank that others have dug looks like widowmakers to me. Not much holding that matrix together. What a place to hunt though! I would need a truck to haul my finds. Another good vid. It is nice at times to have other hounds to share with. Havagudun my friend.
So the holes that are punched into the wall at this location is actually from how they produced the road. They had a boat with a big water cannon and just sprayed the hill side causing it to slide down and into the river and then the road was cut with a dozer.
Yeah those cut outs with rock all up the wall are scetchy lol I got a few in my area but just moving around the area opens new stuff so it helps a lot👍but great finds bro keep on hounding🍻
@@CurrentlyRockhounding not sure if Hanford could stand a good earthquake as it already has serious structural issues. I love the name glowies BTW. Wow!! I’m considering going back to work driving truck. I’d probably be in Pasco much of the time so I really appreciate the videos of this area! PS once I start working again I will definitely fund some of your trips 😃
Late to the party, but those are nice finds you got out there! I love the translucent golden and orange agates the best, they're just like little gems. As for your agate with green plumes that you show at 19:08, my best guess is that the green mineral might be chlorite. You can also sometimes find inclusions of green chlorite plumes in the quartz crystals over at Hansen. Be on the lookout for them. :)
Dangit, I wish I knew you were coming to tri cities. I've been hunting at Fir rd 3 times this week.. Found some beauties too, including my first eye agate. When do you think you'll be back this way again?
I've been on that island a few times, and there are no signs of it being anything special. And I've never seen any artifacts at all. No arrowheads or anything.
Your weird green one I'm wondering if massive epidote is possible? If there is basalt weathering nearby and the products end up in there somehow? Just a guess.
Currently Rockhounding I only know because my oldest son planned to be a paleontologist for many years. We’ve been on a few actual Dino digs. I love fossils as much as rocks!
Nuclear power is actually pretty clean. Much cleaner than coal or natural gas. The waste is solidified into a form that won’t leak or pollute the water or air around it. So yeah, I think a glass or concrete type substance.
Washington has many many locations that are more accessible to older and younger people, a great starting point (other then my videos!) is a book called Gem Trails of Washington. I had all kinds of great spots to go and visit, I think most library systems have it and its under $20 on Amazon.
I live in Idaho and travel to the Bremerton area every summer to visit my family. I'm going to have to plan a day stop where you're finding these at on my next trip. I tried finding the area on line but with no success. Can you tell me how to find it please? Thanks. Btw, found you through the agate dad.
what do you know about the way that sequence of sediment has been deposited? It seems like outwash from a river or glacier, well rounded, poorly sorted... The fines seem like glacial flour. I think that how one guy was saying "when you ind one, you find another one close by" might be due to the layers you can see. Some layers are probably more agate-bearing.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding funny we actually were a couple miles south of that spot just by pointing on a map and going. I really wanna get back down there to find an eyeball agate or one of the banded ones you guys found.

First time watching your videos. Loving all of these rocks! I would be looking at everything 🤣 you’re blessed with a great spot.
Thanks dude! I just checked out your channel as well and you have some good videos up. I need to spend some time watching your stuff as well.
Hey who's that handsome old guy. Lol. Grate video. And a good time
Hahaha Thanks man, it was fun getting out.
Almost has a moss agate quality! Bet it will be gorgeous cut and polished up!
It does kinda have that quality to it.

I agree, we just need one earthquake or a big rain event (rare in the desert) to make it safe.

That really is a great location that just keeps giving. I'm not sure when my next time down there will be, I hope within a few weeks or so.
That island out there is a prehistoric village site. Many artifacts were collected on it before the laws were placed in the 60’s.
That's really interesting, I didn't know that.
I've been on that island a few times, and there are no signs of it being anything special. And I've never seen any artifacts at all. No arrowheads or anything.
Nice channel! Agate Dad sent me. Subbed.
I hope y'all wear a hard hat at that location!
Thank you!
Is this west fir road? Driving from Western WA and want to make sure we get it right. Love the vid!
There's a GPS pin the description of the video. Happy Hunting!
Your weird green one I'm wondering if massive epidote is possible? If there is basalt weathering nearby and the products end up in there somehow? Just a guess.
There's lots of wreathed basalt all around this area.
Wait a second i recognized that road... Yes YES i live there, know wander i keep on finding agates on my road... I shall agate hunt, thanks!
That's awesome! I'm sure you will find some amazing stuff.
Some great finds. I’d love to check this place out someday. Does TJ have a RUclips channel? I’ve seen him on a couple videos now.
The best place to find him is on Facebook and Instagram.
Yay!
Agreed!
Reminder, look for the borders of the Indian reservation...
You can't hound those areas of the Columbia River...
Great video, by the way..
Thanks! As for this location there is no reservation in the area.
So is that a cba then the new one with the water line
9:15 Those look like fossilized bones... not sure what critters can be found out your way.
They could be, and to be honest I know so little about fossilized bones I could be standing on them and not know.
Mammoth woolly rhino horse beaver saber cat and sloth. Posbull some human.

that was a real cool hunt! what kind of light is that you use to shine trough them agates? great video!
I'm using a Streamlight Stylus Pro light. It's about the size of a Sharpie.

How do you get up that high off the path? Do you just zig zag up or start up somewhere else and climb down?
You can just kinda start to zig zag up the cliffs in the lower areas.

This is all deposited by a now gone river that did experience ice age floods.
