    My question, which you didn't cover, the set screw when you put it in the t boost (connected to the manifold) did yours go all the way down to the last thread? Mine does not.

      Not totally clear what your asking, there is no set screw. However if talking about the boost tap going into the intake manifold try rotating it back and forth so both gaskets go inside.

    nice video, im also running a CTS BOV on my tuned MK6 R. i love how hybrid BOVs work. when building boost and slowly letting off the throttle it produce this amazing sounding flutter as it attempts to hold boost while slowly letting it out so youcan build boost quick if acceleration is needed. other than that it has a nice sounding PSSH sound at high boost pressures. wish i had some extra $$ for some nice cameras and mics. i dont like being loud with my car exhaust wise so the hybrid bov system is a good way for stealth mode. if any one wants for noise i would get and HKS with and adapter

      @@SavageGTI I've been playing with my car a little bit... I've notice this car just revving the motor just to hear them force induction noises doesn't sound appealing at all. The only thing I would do to mask that is with launch control...and not trying to spend over 500$ for a crackle pop tune. The car only sounds good at load on the road.
      Pop you hood, start the car, make sure the car is warmed up, put the a/c on and fan on max, turn on your high beams and all interior lights, and at last roll the window down and rev up and down to 4k rpm -5k rpm while slow letting off the accelerator, it just sounds amazing , Thank me later 😁

      Yeah at wide open throttle higher rpms under load is a totally different sound, I might try a 2.5in catback exhaust with my 3in DP in the future. low rpm coasting sounds like crap, unless on downhill coasting when engine is cold you get so many pops. Also try being in a gear too high for your speed but still build boost then quickly snap off the gas should get a loud brap.

      I got it. It is a brass plug if you were also installing a catch can here is the instructions for just the boost tap. www.dropbox.com/sh/rytm0gb1ty9qr49/AABoLJ46VObS1mhkGCV-quTAa/CTS%20Installation%20Guide%20-%20CTS-HW-002.pdf?dl=0

      the brass screw is essentially a delete plug for the pcv system. Some catch cans remove the pcv hoses so the brass fitting would block the boost tap off preventing a boost leak.

      There are only certain ones that fit the mk5 do to the mounting location and flange. They are designed to be the same shape and size of the diverter valve. If you're into custom fab and wanted a universal BOV like the HKS that you can find on a lot of JDM cars you could make a block off plate to stock location then cut in and weld a new flange that works for the new BOV to the intercooler pipe. It's like a turbo, you cant just put any turbo on anything without having the right flange on the exhaust manifold.

    • @SavageGTI
      @SavageGTI  5 лет назад

      It depends on what your looking for. both make louder sounds but the Forge is just a spacer and would still be actuated by the electronics. The CTS BOV is activated by vacuum pressure so you can rev it up in N and still hear the blow off valve sound. Also with the CTS it is all one unit and doesn't rely on keeping the stock diverter valve that can leak. CTS probably can hold more boost if you tune it, I don't have experience with the forge DV Spacer but with the CTS I can hold 21psi from eurodyne stage 1.

      I think you mean you have a DV spacer. Either way the BOV is actuated by a vacuum line tapped off the intake manifold. A BOV also vents built up pressure to atmosphere. With a spacer it just backs off the diverter valve from the mounting point and uses the stock electrical harness for actuation.

    • @SavageGTI
      @SavageGTI  3 года назад

      @@allin8811 A diverter valve recycles some of the boost pressure back into the intake system after letting off the gas. The DV has no audible sound. A BOV vents all air pressure and you can hear the sound even inside the car. A BOV can also be actuated in neutral because it is vacuum driven as apposed to the DV which is electronically controlled by the ECU.
      I ran the upgraded DV for a bit but that ended up breaking on me so I switched to the BOV because I also wanted the sound.
      Performance is the same or un noticeable due to the fact that the stock k03 turbo can spool quickly. Both options hold extra boost if you put a tune on your car. I'm running Eurodyne stage 1 which gives me a peak of 21psi and holds about 18psi consistent in a pull.

      @@gtimk5lovers489 If your DV has a crack in it replace it. It's the most common point of a boost leak but if your still down on power check your Intercooler hoses. On my car I had to use RTV Ultra Black to seal a pipe before it went into the intercooler on the right side of the car. Check to see if there is any oil dripping from the pipes if that is the case it's not air tight and boost could be escaping.
      I found that the phone app doesn't accurately measure boost. After tuning my car with Eurodyne their software can log a run that will track boost (measured vs actual). I believe you can do this with VCDS as well. With a stock turbo and stock tune you should be at 12psi. with my stage 1 from Eurodyne I'm getting consistent 18psi.

      @@beliezer2067 The diverter valve and Blow off valve are essentially the same thing they mount in the same spot. The BOV vents boost into air when you let off accelerator with a loud pshh sound the Diverter valve recycles air back into intake quiet and stock option. you'll have to get a BOV that fits the tsi engine. Install should be same location right side of car just above the front axel. It's just a type of valve that relieves air pressure from the turbo system.

      If it shuts off after a pull like driving then when you start to coast it shuts off. That would mean you have a boost leak somewhere. I had one at an intercooler pipe. But if you're having issues after installing a BOV I'd check to make sure it's hooked up right

      I can confirm this. I took my blow off valve off and my boost maintains between shifts now. My girlfriend even noticed when she said she doesn't feel like she's being jerked around when I switch gears.
      Btw I didn't take the valve off because of this. I took it off because my MPG went through the floor. The engine really wants that blow off diverted back into the engine and when it doesn't, it runs rich. My MPG literally dropped to the point where before the BOV I was averaging 350-370 miles on a tank. After the BOV that dropped to about 250-260.

      The 2.0t is not a modified 2JZ or RB26. Though It can give you the turbo flutter, you have to modulate the gas and clutch just enough to put a load on the engine (engaging reverse uphill always does it for me), or drive hard and heel toe. You should also have a tune and intake aswell. I'm sure a bigger turbo would make it even easier.

      I did have the upgraded diverter valve version, the piston part broke off and didn't work properly so I went with the BOV. it's superior and can hold more boost just turbo facts. k03 is small enough that spool time is nothing and throttle response doesn't change.
