I have the exact same levers!! Ha! I had no idea what I was doing and was able to install them no problem. Just be careful because my brake lever flipped up on me once as I went to grab it. (My fault). Gotta have quick reflexes to flip it down again to actuate the break. Cool video bro .. they look great.
Yeah it's not difficult. Easy for people to fuck up if they re adjust their clutch cable wrong or their brakes lock up but over all it's a very simple process that doesn't take long. I really like them. I actually tightened the nuts at the pivot points where it flips. I found it flipped up to easy so I tightened them so they will flip up in a crash no problem but harder to just flip up by accident. Thanks for the heads up though. Ride safe and enjoy life.
The original levers are at the exact right length to protect your bike if you drop it in a parking lot, so that you wouldn’t get any scratches on your fenders
I’ve seen many many many levers snap that way which is why I have folding levers. They won’t help the bike from getting scratches it’s more luck if they do help. The bar end hits before the levers unless you get real lucky or unlucky depending how you look at it. Unlucky if it snaps
MotoBike Mike I guess I got lucky on mine, It took the hit when the wind blew it in the parking lot and I just replaced the handle bar end and the stock lever and had no scratches at all on the bodywork. That’s my experience so I replace that with the stock one to save my body work if it happens again
Yeah definitely lucky. A straight tip over is fine so long as the handle bars don’t move. That’s where the luck comes in because of the handle bars turn the bike will fall closer to the ground. If you’re moving then the lever will snap right off unless you get lucky. Anytime a bike gets dropped and no scratches without a full engine cage like stunters or bare minimum frame sliders you’re lucky. Downside to frame sliders though is if they catch while when the bike goes down while moving it can cause the bike to flip. It’s a love hate relationship with frame sliders. That’s why you rarely see guys who track a lot with certain types of frame sliders if any at all
I tried your prying techinique on my Tuono 18 and it was not moving at all, like I was actualy bending the screwdriver shaft and nothing was moving. I ended up removing the top axel pivot by hitting a small socket over it. and the top piece holding the brake pushrod comes out of the lever so you can dismount the pushrod pivot out of its socket.
Mike second time watching this , I just replaced my stock controls to ASV on my 848 EVO & I really love them compared to the gigantic stockers I really appreciate how detailed your video is 👍🏻 I got a decent deal on them but it was between your controls or CRG. I wanted to know how your Puig are doing? Thanks again for another helpful video
Just tighten the screws more and it will become more difficult to fold. Honestly though they don’t fold super easy so they won’t just flip up by accident. Never happened to me. Maybe if they were some Chinese brand or some but these are solid.
@@TubeSocksMalone Mike my man appreciate the reply. Perhaps I read too much into the potential dangers. I just ordered the same ones diff color for my R1M. I ride too aggressively and race too much for it to potential flip up. Do you reckon if I really tighten them up they couldn’t be forced to fold by normal pressure only thru excessive force?
@comonerleon I would say yes to if you tighten them enough they would only fold with excessive force. At the very least to the point you would feel comfortable it would definitely not be accidentally flipped up without purposely doing it or sliding. Keep tightening until you feel you like it. I tighten mine enough that it almost didn’t move so I loaned it just a tad. I also took them apart and added blue lock tight on and just make sure it’s all good. I think it’s good practice to double check all. Never know if it was made on a Friday 😂. Like the old saying goes never buy something made on a Friday or a Monday.
Dude, great video, I'm subscribing. Can I get an update on the levers? They are still working great, looking great? I'm thinking of purchasing, but I'm worried they are a bit flimsy? I've never hand folding levers, they dangerous, you had any issues? Thanks man!
jeffrey noble thanks for the support I appreciate it. I will do an update video on them ASAP for sure on how they’re holding up etc. Thanks again and ride safe brother.
hi mike, i just bought new levers for my 2018 RR and found out that the bushing from the original clutch lever does not fit in the aftermarket part. and the borehole of the aftermarket lever is bigger than the oem part with the bushing in it. on your video i have seen that you dont put the old bushing into the new lever. so does the borehole of your new lever have the same diameter as the original lever with the bushing inside? isn´t there to much wear on the screw when installing the new lever without a bushing? and furthermore when i install the lever without the bushing, depending on how much force i put on when tightening the screw, the lever gets stuck completely...??
Random Nummba yes since I bought the Puig levers the clutch and brake lever adapters are made to fit directly on the stock perch as they come with adapters that are model specific. The only thing I needed to use from the stock levers was the little piece with black pin I guess you could call it that is in the brake lever and pushes into the brake cylinder. Aside from that my Puig were direct bolt ons and didn’t need to use any stock parts for the clutch side. Their would be too much wear on the screw if you didn’t use the bushing and needed to yes. Is it possible that you need to use the stock bushing or maybe they sent you levers for a different model by accident. One more thing which levers did you buy? Normally more expensive ones like Puig, ASV, CRG are straight bolt on no need to mess around except for the master cylinder pin on the brake lever so I am curious which ones you got.
Random Nummba did your instructions not tell you if you need to use some stock parts and I read that your stock parts didn’t fit so makes me curious if you were sent the wrong levers.
well, it seems that i got wrong levers. of course i ordered model specific ones but the borehole is smaller than the one on the oem part. original bushing is to wide to fit in. so i just return them... thx for the quick reply!
Random Nummba no problem. I’m happy you figured it out. Shit happens. When I ordered the Puig levers they originally sent me two brake side adapters rather than 1 clutch and 1 brake lol I just sent it back and they sent the correct part. Have a good one and hope you get it all sorted out soon. Ride safe
Thanks bro. Helped
Super useful man, many thanks

@@TubeSocksMalonecan you tighten them to a point that it’s extremely difficult to do it with your power therefore only with a proper crash?
Looks awesome matches your bike perfectly 👌
Nice. Thanks for the walk-through.

Can you adjust the foldability in it. I don’t want them folding easily
Just tighten the screws more and it will become more difficult to fold. Honestly though they don’t fold super easy so they won’t just flip up by accident. Never happened to me. Maybe if they were some Chinese brand or some but these are solid.

What is your phone holder mounted to?
Near the front top part of the RSV4 tank their is a hole sort of speak. My phone mount is mounted to my tank not just on top of my tank.

They actually fold.
