I'm not even buying any Lego this holiday season. It's all competing sets from Cobi, FunWhole, etc. Lego pricing was bad but has really jumped the shark this year.
Sometimes I’m caught up in the moment. Some days I’m just not feeling great. But whenever Jang uploads, it brings me back down to the ground. I’m so calm when I watch a Jang vid.
I love the set, but I don't see any justification for charging that outside of the US. With usual price comparisons I would expect at $50, we would see €50 and £45 outside of the US. Will definitely wait for a steep sale.
Yes the € price does not make sens unless they build this particular set in the US and have some import fees and shipping costs attached to it. So strange. Does anybody know for sure why prices can seem so odd sometimes?
Same. I was expecting €50 and £45 based on that $50 price for the US. There is no excuse for it being so much outside the US. I'll be waiting for it to go on sale and I hope others do too because Lego needs to be taught a lesson instead of trying to take advantage.
They put that high of a price on it, so discount percentages can be high and profits still good. I am 5 years into following prices on Lego through the years and anything not exclusive to Lego itself, i expect by now to find easily with 20% of, get 25% of on the regular and twice (mostly) before going eol you can hit -40% (and sometimes even more) on anything selling through Lego Partners or web only retailers in France, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, sometimes amazon italy has crazy deals. It is a struggle though keeping tabs on what sets to buy through Lego with points and/or GWP deals and what to buy straight up cheap.
This is unexpected but it's a very pleasant surprise. One of Da Vinci's machines is great subject matter. The flapping motion is a lot of fun. Well, $50 is a lot better than I expected. 😄 Thanks for this spotlight on the set.
They need him as a guest on the Architectural Digest RUclips channel, scratching his head in perplexity and merriment at weird stuff in Scandinavian homes!
This is the first ever adult oriented set I'm actually immediately sold on. (Barely) under 50$'s, integrates LEGO's strengths as a buildable kit that can also have moving parts, looks good on display due to it's mechanical source material. 10/10. Looking forward to getting it!
When they announced the painting I kept telling people that I was more into his medical drawings and inventions so I'm glad they made this for people like me, but now I kinda have to buy it.
It reminds me a lot of the Hungarian Horntail set, I'm surprised I've not seem anyone else make that comparison anywhere so far. This mechanism looks a lot nicer than the crank!
I was going to write on that :P in piececount it is about 100 pieces smaller then Hedwig and Phoenix, but they had brickbuilt wings, so i am guessing it is really comparable in size. Also the stand has a similar stance as those Harry Potter sets. The cranks never really bothered me, but this trigger does look interesting in comparison.
My main Lego collection is aviation/aerospace from third parties. I think this will go nicely with the collection, taking it back to the idea of human flight.
This set looks neat and I really appreciate the string going throughout the set and the ability to flap the wings, but man I look at Mega's old Da Vinci's Flying Machine set from the Assassin's Creed line with genuine cloth and wish LEGO would do the same
When I first saw the minifig, All I could see was a Richard Harris Dumbledore instead of Leonardo Da Vinci. Yes, the Richard Harris version, not Micheal Gambon. My mother often moaned about the swap as she'd often say "You don't go from white to grey" when it came to hair colour.
That 60€ - for less than 500 pieces - price tag is just outrageous tbh. It screams:"yeah, it's Lego so it's more pricey in Europe aaaaaand it's Leonardo, one of the most famous man who ever lived here, everyone grows up studying or (if you're Italian like me) actually seeing many of his works, so you'll gladly pay more!"
Seems solid. 50 seems fair for the size and piece count. Plus it's cool they're recoloring stuff. Dunno about those price differences worldwide though.
Looks like a cool looking build right there, plus the minifig looks cool as well. I wonder if Lego might turn more drawings from his journals into possible builds or a Lego storybook redone into a Leonardo da Vinci type book opening up into his work area????
I've been waiting for this for a while and I love it. Yes a bit overpriced but adults always get screwed. The wings are too small but I get why. And the Mini-fig is great! Ya, I'm getting it.
I think it might be because of scale of purchase. Like more people in us buys up legos as opposed to US like costcos , Walmart. So I think manufacturing is done in US. But that's my guess
Because in Germany and Netherlands as soon as sets are no longer Lego exclusiv there will be 20-25% off. That's easier done on an inflated starting price.
The cloth on the wall actually makes sense here. Artist in the past did train by studying drapery in specific lighting conditions. I like it, but does it speak to a small minority and otherwise look dumb: yesssss...
I like the looks of this a lot. I am worried buying it would be a slippery slope to wanting to buy Mona Lisa on sale sometime, but I can cross that bridge when I get to it.
I'm happy to see more 18+ sets that aren't super sized and super expensive. Smaller sets are what got me back into Lego as an adult and I often think I might be put off the hobby if I was to come back to it now. But still £55 for this? That's disgusting. I like the look of this set but absolutely not. I would've expected £45 and even then we're paying more in the UK than the US price. But at £55, Lego taking is taking the actual mick.
Any opinion on whether or not some of the wonky pricing on January releases has to do with expected trade policy changes and where the sets are manufactured? Is the US expected to have to pay more for LEGO products imported and vice versa?
My wallet after hearing those prices: "I'm flying..." Me: ... My wallet: "Goodbye..." In all seriousness, pricing like this is the reason why I've limited my Lego consumption to polybags, Bricklink and special sales like Black Friday.
the skinny and blend all black base doesn't please me. it could follow the color palette of the model, pretend it's made of wood, idk, something better...
It's always wrong but here 49.99$ is 47,32€, so making it 60€ is way off... I like this set, it's an interesting adult set, but I'm never buying it for 60€ :/
The stands ruins it imo, I mean it's supposed to be this elegant light-weight winged machine, but the stand is too bulky and takes up too much visual space
Nice set, but i refuse to pay 60€ for this. Besides that, my mother-in-law will touch it as soon she visits. She will try to to play with it and she will definitely destroy it.
I come for the lego, I stay for the home decor critique
😂
Top comment 😅
Yes
I hope that you non-Europeans do not think we all have crumbled paper decorations in our European houses.
Dune: "Fear is the mind-killer."
Lego: "Price is the joy-killer."
I'm not even buying any Lego this holiday season. It's all competing sets from Cobi, FunWhole, etc. Lego pricing was bad but has really jumped the shark this year.
"I've got a flying machine" is from WarCraft. I can't believe I remembered that.
I had a sudden flashback when hearing that too! In a few seconds, I went back in the 90's, gaming with the PC in the basement.
I was hoping for Assassin’s Creed.
Sometimes I’m caught up in the moment. Some days I’m just not feeling great. But whenever Jang uploads, it brings me back down to the ground. I’m so calm when I watch a Jang vid.
I think you speak for us all
I dont understand why but i got the feeling LEGO prices are geting more and more insane after every year
Heh good old Warcraft 2 Gnomish flying machine ^^ , interesting set!
This bombs for you!
I was thinking about that but wasn’t sure anymore (I played W2 in its French version, such good memories)
This set looks EPIC and comes with a minifig great preview jang
Thank you so much Warren.
I haven’t paid much attention to Lego for a couple years. This set definitely grabbed it.
The prices have been iffy but the designs have most definitely improved in the past couple years
I love the set, but I don't see any justification for charging that outside of the US. With usual price comparisons I would expect at $50, we would see €50 and £45 outside of the US. Will definitely wait for a steep sale.

Thanks for this spotlight on the set.
The brown curved pieces that used to only come in clear just became a new favorite tree part for me🔥🔥
Can we have a jang alternate channel to critique decor pleeeeeease?
They need him as a guest on the Architectural Digest RUclips channel, scratching his head in perplexity and merriment at weird stuff in Scandinavian homes!
JANG has obtained the Delver's Dirigible!
This is the first ever adult oriented set I'm actually immediately sold on. (Barely) under 50$'s, integrates LEGO's strengths as a buildable kit that can also have moving parts, looks good on display due to it's mechanical source material. 10/10. Looking forward to getting it!
using one of the brown cowls, a custom batman would fit perfectly in this!
When they announced the painting I kept telling people that I was more into his medical drawings and inventions so I'm glad they made this for people like me, but now I kinda have to buy it.

I love this. The Icons needs more sub $100 sets (other than flowers).
True!!
Fully Agree with this! I hope 2025 brings more sub $100 for Icons.
This set looks great
This set looks EPIC and it's got a minifig Shackleton fig shouldve been with the Endurance ship great preview jang 👍
My main Lego collection is aviation/aerospace from third parties. I think this will go nicely with the collection, taking it back to the idea of human flight.
You really flew through this reveal nicely done!
Ooh, this looks fun! Love the little trigger, that’s a great touch!
An older artistic figure and an homage to their creations? I can't believe it's not -butter- a GWP!
This set looks neat and I really appreciate the string going throughout the set and the ability to flap the wings, but man I look at Mega's old Da Vinci's Flying Machine set from the Assassin's Creed line with genuine cloth and wish LEGO would do the same

There are some great pieces in there for MOCs, especially those wings.
Hey man, wall-tarps are all the rage down our way 😂
That 60€ - for less than 500 pieces - price tag is just outrageous tbh.
It screams:"yeah, it's Lego so it's more pricey in Europe aaaaaand it's Leonardo, one of the most famous man who ever lived here, everyone grows up studying or (if you're Italian like me) actually seeing many of his works, so you'll gladly pay more!"
Sick Destiny’s Bounty
It would be nice to have a removable trigger mechanism for display purposes.
It is Lego, everything is removable :P
old skool Warcraft 2 reference
Cool but a bit expensive, I"ll get it with a discount.
Seems solid. 50 seems fair for the size and piece count. Plus it's cool they're recoloring stuff.
Dunno about those price differences worldwide though.
I dig it and also dig the home decor critique!
Looks like a cool looking build right there, plus the minifig looks cool as well. I wonder if Lego might turn more drawings from his journals into possible builds or a Lego storybook redone into a Leonardo da Vinci type book opening up into his work area????
Beautiful little set.
Warcraft II reference? Or 3?
Stunning set
Day one buy for sure
I actually quite like this one! Could make a Wright Bros aircraft too!
I've been waiting for this for a while and I love it. Yes a bit overpriced but adults always get screwed. The wings are too small but I get why. And the Mini-fig is great! Ya, I'm getting it.
I'm going to take the pieces from this and combine them with the molded head of the new(ish) Hungarian horntail to make a medium sized one.
Awesome 🎉Thx for the pre review! 😂
0:01 My first thought was Prop Cycle from Namco but google says WoW 😢
Makes me sorry I missed the 2003 Wright Flyer; high time that one gets a rework.
Would love it if they included a minifig scale version of this with the set so DaVinci could fly around haha
I got the reference.
The Canadian price is fine, its simply indicative of our freefalling dollar. Looking forward to this set.
This will go great with the inventor CMF series minifig
Did they put the SW tax on this just for giggles?
Amazing affordable set
I want it for pieces, but I must admit that's a great build.
The price in Norway is 829 nok (75 USD).
Don't care for it myself but I can't wait to see the bird and dragon MOCs. The UK pricing puts me off buying it though.
Looks pretty good. I really like the build. Why more expensive in Europe though?
It’s as means of apology for all the Europeans of his time calling him “Leofarto da Stinki”
I think it might be because of scale of purchase. Like more people in us buys up legos as opposed to US like costcos , Walmart. So I think manufacturing is done in US. But that's my guess

I like it, but does it speak to a small minority and otherwise look dumb: yesssss...
Was that a reference to Leonardo from Assassins Creed 2? The set looks great. Mega made one for their Assassins Creed line
"Shoot! Shoot the flying Demon!"
73 € where I live
*sigh*
Very cool!
I like the looks of this a lot. I am worried buying it would be a slippery slope to wanting to buy Mona Lisa on sale sometime, but I can cross that bridge when I get to it.
I still can't believe that Leonardo flew across the Atlantic in this.
Cool set. Expensive in euro though 😢

if this goes on sale for 35 quid at some point id snag this in an instant, but for what it is, 55 is unreal
Wow
Looks fun, like you say, that pricing is all over the shop. I'm hoping that's an error.
I love it! Might wait for a discount though, 60€ feels too expansive to me. 50 would be just ok, still pricey…
Price aside. We only have so much shelf space in our homes.
How is this 65$???
greedy lego
I can appreciate the mechanism but the “fuselage” just looks too bulky to me when you look at the various sketches Da Vinci did
Close enough. Welcome back time twisters
I'm sort of confused where the "rider" would fit here. Aren't they supposed to hang from the bottom?
Any opinion on whether or not some of the wonky pricing on January releases has to do with expected trade policy changes and where the sets are manufactured? Is the US expected to have to pay more for LEGO products imported and vice versa?
Gnomish flying unit in warcraft...ii i think it was. Fun times.
Day one buy.
I will not buy any Lego sets until they improve their photo studio's decor. It's unacceptable!
Yay, a DA Vinci.
Sounds like someone at Lego got their exchange rate app the wrong way round. Weird prices. The set looks quite nice though.
Looks amazing, but about 10$ too expensive, I just wish it didn’t have the black stand.
Warcraft 2 Tides of Darkness, Gnomish Flying Machine unit select
I have the assassins creed mega bloks version it’s to scale though
I wonder how much in Australia
wish it was like 30 dollars
Looks OK
Looks cool I guess. Not a terrible price either.
My brain keeps seeing a brick separator slapped on the side of the model 🤷🏻♂️
Dune fun fact: the ornithopters were named after this machine
My wallet after hearing those prices: "I'm flying..."
Me: ...
My wallet: "Goodbye..."
In all seriousness, pricing like this is the reason why I've limited my Lego consumption to polybags, Bricklink and special sales like Black Friday.
Gonna add a custom ezio minfigure to it from assassins creed and make it complete 😂👌
That's a strange looking Ezio minifigure
$109 in NZ 😢
the skinny and blend all black base doesn't please me. it could follow the color palette of the model, pretend it's made of wood, idk, something better...
It's always wrong but here 49.99$ is 47,32€, so making it 60€ is way off...
I like this set, it's an interesting adult set, but I'm never buying it for 60€ :/
The stands ruins it imo, I mean it's supposed to be this elegant light-weight winged machine, but the stand is too bulky and takes up too much visual space
assassin's creed 2 fans eating good
Finally...
Lego Assassin's Creed 😂
"make it flap". loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Nice set, but i refuse to pay 60€ for this. Besides that, my mother-in-law will touch it as soon she visits. She will try to to play with it and she will definitely destroy it.
Can they not use "Ornithopter" Isn't that what it's called?
They’re already selling the Dune Ornithopter. I imagine two sets with the same name would be bad for business.
