Lyrics:
Everything is everything
What is meant to be, will be
After winter, must come spring
Change, it comes eventually
I wrote these words for everyone
Who struggles in their youth
Who won't accept deception
Instead of what is truth
It seems we lose the game,
Before we even start to play
Who made these rules? We're so confused
Easily led astray
Let me tell ya that
Everything is everything
Everything is everything
After winter, must come spring

It’s 2024 and this is STILL a banger!!!!! They don’t put music out like this anymore!
I'm here bread bin...❤🤣😁🏴
Yep listen to this since 98 so good years back then so so good
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is one of the greatest albums ever recorded... ..this is absolutely outstanding. Thank you LH Peace, love and Happiness always

@?,?, even if you think so, it's definitely one of the most influential
Facts! It was even inducted into the Library of Congress as “culturally/historically/aesthetically significant.” ✊🏽💃🏽🎼💜✅
agreed, this track in particular, I remember being blown away when I saw the video for it
She could sing rap and act! The 90’s talent is unmatched
When music is used to uplift inspire and heal instead of pushing negativity.
True, at least we can come back to tracks like this right, greetings from Austria.
Stayed true to herself, wouldn't be moulded into what they wanted.
" I wrote these words...for everyone...who struggles in they youth" thank you Lauren!

This album came out in 1998.
LH was born in 1975.
She was writing lyrics like this BEFORE SHE WAS 23??
Astounding. She's a once in a generation talent.
I feel as if some of the best artist were writing their best work under 25
She's a talent God's Warriors
Shame it stopped after that
Oh yea she was figures back then when started the group
Crazy to think this year makes 25 years for this classic time flying 😔
The fact she can fill an arena with a 20yo album is outstanding.
Not to mention one 20 year old album. One album and she was and still is the sh-iz-nit
That's the whole meaning of timeless music. Future humans will discover this shit in 2121 and still rock to it... it's that good.
@@jaredomari5610 dammm right this will never get old absolutely timeless 🔥🔥🔥💯💯
@@c.willie well she's a very talented woman-its a shame she has a bad reputation-she could have made lots more music after this

That’s a word
@ALEXANDER CAMARILLO I can relate
Classic is gold.
True
For a queer and closeted southern kid in a homophobic little town, 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' hit me like a revelation. In 1998 I was just starting to understand myself and needed to choose my place in this world. I make no exaggeration when I say that Lauryn's words on that album, and this song in particular, inspired within me a bravery I desperately needed during that time in my life. My story isn't unique in that no matter our background or what streets we call home, there is power to be found in truth. It transcends race, sexuality, gender and every other characteristic we create to differentiate ourselves; there is no 'target audience' when it comes to the power of music to touch lives. Lauryn Hill spoke truth to an entire generation of us who chose to listen. I am grateful I was there to hear it.

Lol I'm glad we lived in a time where that stuff was in the closet and not upside down how life is now
I hate when people don’t mention Lauryn Hill when talking about the best rapper alive. She’s so amazing with singing and rapping. She’s just special❤
The problem is that she only has one album
Did she just say develop a negative into a postive picture. That line is pure genius.
Omg, Never caught the photography imagery in that line! This was not one of my favs on the album back when it came out, I got a deeper meaning listening today
Now hear this mixture when hip hop meets scripture, develope a negative into a positive picture.
Its the ghetto gospel
I read this just as she said it 💛

The industry wasn't ready 4 Lauryn...they didn't know how 2 interpret her mindset.
You betta say that one more time!!!
For real 🤔
She was 2 woke for them.
Mmmhmm
She was too smart
This is the most consequential and important album to date.
After learning about all the sick demonic sh*t that goes on in the music business these past few years, I have more respect for Ms. Hill for leaving it to raise a family.

@@donaldquirk7801she does not , from on fan to another she had a couple movie music tracks but that’s about it

Quality over quantity. I'm okay with her just releasing Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The only other song I know she did outside of this album is Guarding the Gates featured on the Queen and Slim soundtrack, but she made that song way before she recorded it.
She still the best in 2024
Yes
Lauryn is number one. All that BS she went through. Her music speaks to my soul and you cant find that anymore. I say this as an Italian dude in his 30s who grew up listening to her on Hot97. Zion is too real

The creativity of this video fascinates me. I love the city being the record.
Do you know I played this for my 10yrd granddaughter who was 9 at the time and pointed that out to me . I never noticed it like that . Extremely creative. Man. People talk about Marylin Monroe, but look at this girl, she has to be one of the most beautiful women in the history of the planet inside AND out. And no plastic surgery.
right?? she's sooo pretty especially in this video
skillbill83 man, Lauryn was always gorgeous!
the brilliant thing about here is that she did not sell herself - or allow herself to be sold - on the basis of her looks... she was antipathetic toward that, though everyone posting here will (already) know that, i am sure....
mikedans55 not trying to be mean but Marylin Monroe was portrayed wrong by the media. There was so much more to her. She was a beautiful soul and to use her as a bad example is kinda shit espeacily when you claim to like what this song is about lol
Yep
fame only sells with us... we are guilty
Her music just makes me feel happy & proud to be black. God bless you Lauryn Hill.
Her music is timeless & also makes me feel extremely positive & happy. This album holds a special place in my heart, cause I was playing it the day I met the now love of my life who is actually Nigerian born in Cape Town SA, but raised in NY & moved to L.A. where I met her at a show/concert where her band/group was performing & I was DJing at. We both shared the same love for Lauryn Hill & loved the same kind of music in general like Sun Ra & Miles Davis to which she asked if I was half black or had family, because of my taste in maily 60 & 70's jazz, blues & funk music, lol. Sorry for the long ass story. I was in the story telling kind of mood.
through yourlover That's wonderful.
+Preben Cramer You made some good points but as I said before Lauryn's music makes me feel proud to be black which is why I love her music.

This song in my personal opinion is so under appreciated. Everything about Lauryn Hill is legendary on so many levels.
Heard she wasn't a nice person
This song it’s so poetic.. it came out in my youth and it gave me so much strength… her words feld liked a I was being heard and appreciated,
Lissening to it was therapeutical
We seemed to lose the game before we start to play,

The depth of her lyrics are meaningful now as they were then....tho I feel them on a deeper level now I'm 42... The lyrics still apply to today.
Isn’t she so gorgeous and a role model for darker skin black women who feel being darker is a negative within this society.
I loved the part where she took off her hat and flashed her locks!
Love u lauryn, your beauty comes from above
L-Boogie's combo of vocals and flow is probably unmatched. She doesn't sound a singer trying to rap or a rapper trying to sing. She was so cold with both

Lauryn Hill was HUGE in Japan back in the late 1990s and me and my girlfriends from high school used to try to sing her songs at karaoke. Even though we didn't really understand what she was saying, we knew that she was saying something significant because she was different from any other singers we'd seen before (she was probably the first Black female rapper/lyricist that became so popular in the Japanese mainstream music scene). We looked up to her so much. A lot of Japanese women in their mid 30-40s still do.
Until they went to her concert and she showed up late and sang terribly with no respect for the audience. That’s what I heard from Japanese people.
You can’t just listen to one song on this album. Take the whole thing in every time. Love this Queen ❤
The rap/lyrics/message/poetry gives me goosebumps. Lauren is, and will forever be an ICON to me. ♥♥♥

Co producer by lion Skillz 🦁
She was exactly on time yet the average listener wasn't ready for whig splitting knowledgeable, intelligent music. In 1998 when she dropped this gem. The base, low frequency, so called trap music got more air play and just plain & simple the majority of people weren't really ready for positivity because they're so weak, scared, indoctrinated and socially engineered to settle for less... And you know what they say about that right? The moment you settle for less is the day you get what you settled for. Artist like Lauryn, Indie Arie, Esperanza Spaulding were too positive for the negative controllers of the music industry and the mainstream audience. The same can be said for KRS-one, Public Enemy, Brand Nubian, Yaslin Bey, Khalil Ismail, De_La_Sol and many others. The commercial mainstream music industry is a farce. Proof; Frankie Beverly & Maze have never won a Grammy award.
@@khalilminorel747i highly disagree. This album did numbers when it released even tho heavy hitters like DMX and Jay released projects that year. We loved the variety of hip hop during the whole 90s
