This make me wish that metal could get a happy ending.. and not have to worry about being a killing machine and be able to think for himself. Not having Eggman dictate his every move

There's a theory that Metal Sonic is actually Sonic from a bad future who got robotize by Eggman.
The problem with that, is who SEGA would likely piss off if they tried that.
Look up these four words and you'll know exactly who I mean: "Shard the Metal Sonic."
They could technically give him a happy ending in a later game and let his robotic soul rest in peace.
Metal was created to be a 'war' machine he can't be good. It's in his core.
If only we got to see an actual scene in the games where Metal is like this. Questioning everything about his existence, and showing he does care about the world.

Well metal sonic is programed to be like Sonic but unfortunately he's very obedient to Dr Robotnik unless he try to fight robotnik's control and act like Sonic fully. But this is awesome.

@@spikergames4259 it had nothing to do with Sonic heroes but the start of Sonic CD when he first introduced and the comics it was wetter he was built and reprogrammed to be Sonic or sonic was captured and roboticized there are two options in this argument. Play Sonic the Hedgehog CD and also watch Sonic the Hedgehog OVA film to find your answers.

I've always had this stupid wish ever since I played the Metal Sonic in Sonic 1, 2 and 3 ROM hacks: what if there was no sonic? Only metal ? I always thought it would be far more interesting for a machine tossed away by it's creator to defend the world it was made to enslave, and earn the trust of others, like how tails is a tinkerer and maybe fixed him up.
That...would be a new and interesting concept! Its a shame sega won't do it.
I think that was the original concept and origin of Sonic, I think at least. If I recall correctly, Sonic was once one of Eggman’s Experiments who proceeded to escape and confront him, from then on Eggman only really making robots that he can control completely. Though it got retconned cuz it was kind of a limiting origin that wasn’t really that used, I still think something like that with another character like Metal could be explored

Au: Eggman discovered the files of project Shadow way earlier than he did in the original timeline, But instead of trying to find where shadow was kept he decided to recreate Shadow by creating Sonic🤔
Continuation: but something went wrong when he was just about to put in loyalty programs as the final part of his project, Sonic woke up and went rogue, he escaped from the facility and disappeared until the first game.

Aren’t Metal and Mecha Sonic two different machines? Mecha is a prototype for Metal, last I checked.
@@wesleygriffiths8748 fan continuity, smbz has a "turbo Mecha sonic" which is metal sonic that fused with the other Mecha units, turning it super powerful, eggman threatened to shut him down permanently for disobedience, mecha destroys the death egg, and goes on to kill all of sonics friends, almost killing sonic himself only for shadow to appear and use chaos control warping the emeralds away (btw Mecha was after the chaos emeralds for a perfect form) and Mecha goes after them, leaving sonic and shadow on a dead planet, and the emeralds turn up in the mushroom kingdom with Mario

Metal Sonic in other media and Sonic Heroes: Very deep and realized character who was built to be the one true Sonic and tries to prove it to everyone and might be an alternate robotized Sonic. Also very wholesome and heroic fighter who sacrificed himself in the OVA.

For anyone who doesnt know, there is a theory that metal sonic is actually a sonic from another timeline who failed to save everyone in sonic cd and gets robotizied. This gets reinforced in sonic heores final boss as he says "I am the real sonic!!" just thought I let yall know :)))

When you mentioned "heart", I thought of the Tin Man, lol. It was also referenced to Cameron in Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles. Frankly, Metal shouldn't be like Sonic yet he shouldn't be like his bad daddy either. But of course,
it's up to the official media which direction they want to take him in. But I absolutely love the way fans portray him 🙂

I wish they could give him a happy ending in a later game and let his robotic soul rest in peace. He could have a moment where he chooses to either help back up Eggman or Defend Sonic and friends and he would pick Sonic and friends but in the process he get damaged and in the aftermath, Sonic would tell Metal "You were the real Sonic" and Metal's last words would be "Thank...You. You...were...a...good...rival." Effectively ending his arc that started all the way back in Sonic CD.
