Hello everyone, I no longer do sampling videos and tutorials on this channel. This is my new channel where I'm releasing tutorials regularly now. Please head over and subscribe!
haha damn you didnt even cut the drum samples! thats a little too easy, but it definitely works! Thanks for giving me the idea to search for drum breaks next time I go to a record store.
yo nice video and i'm diggin the beat you came up with. i have the exact same headphones, kinda weird knowing i'm the third person watching the video. they kinda old but get the job done for me.
Yeah mate, i'll do something on my sp chaanel, subscribe to ruclips.net/user/spvidz - don't forget you can change the speed of the vinyl if you have a good deck. I have pitch on mine which means I can slow it down or speed it up, then you can also run an LP on 45 speed to speed it up - you loose a lot of bass though :)
There are a lot of tutorials on youtube on the sp-404sx. Took me about 2 days to know know the basic functions. This unit is more about how u get used to using it. When u know how to use it, the journey has jsut begun. With every tutorial video I watch and every beat I make on it I get atleast one "wow"effect because I discoverd something different
I was just wondering if I could get an opinion here. I have a record player, but it cant be setup to hook up to my computer. I have a snowball mic though, would it be okay to just record off the mic or should I buy a new player? I was thinking recording off the mic might actually give it a nice static sound naturally.
Hey thanks for the commenet! You could try but I think you would struggle to get a good signal. Why not just invest in a USB RCA adapter? they are really cheap. Here's the one I use - amzn.to/2jvCHMt
Buy random cheap vinyls and spend countless hours listening through them. Its just luck in most cases. Sometimes I get a few sometimes none. Look in bargain bins in vinyl shops or in charity/thrift stores

Just get a double ended aux cord and plug it into the headphone jack of the turntable then into the mic jack of the comp. Instant hook up for sampling records. Or use a a/v to headphone converter cable and plug it into the speakers output then the aux side into the comp mic jack.

That beat at the end is stuck in my head now lol. So fresh.
thanks man, I'm making more vids on this channel now!
Will do! Please make a tutorial for the 404 like the process of how you made it in this vid with these functions!!! Thank you.
I will add it to the list, thanks
I think the original musician would be honored that their music would be combed though with such care. Great Job
I love this stuff! Can't watch enough sp-404sx performances.

haha cool man, they are falling apart, i've had them years! Need some new ones soon
Nice beat man. And I learned so much off this video than a lot of tutorials lol
no worries man, glad it helped
dope
how do u get the drum break to match the tempo of the sample so nice
you can change the tempo of any sample using the SP
Tom Durkin when i change the tempo the quality goes awful, can you make a tutorial on changing tempo and maybe pitch?

Might have to get myself one of these. Any real difference between the different models of SP's?
nice work flow
What is the learning curve on this type of equipment?

how so you transfer the vinyl chops on to the sp 404?
do****
You can record directly into it via RCA. You need to go through an amp first though.
hahaha i have that crunchy breaks record too, shit gives me so many good sounds
haha! Way too many good breaks!
Nice beat bro! Thinking on buying the 404
they are awesome man. Check out my new channel - spvidz

Oh wow! I never knew you could get those. I'll be sure to order one. Thanks for showing me this. :)
How come there's a button that says lo-fi but you didn't use it
Just personal preference really. I'd rather use the built in effects to change the sound of the samples!
How do you find samples?
Buy random cheap vinyls and spend countless hours listening through them. Its just luck in most cases. Sometimes I get a few sometimes none. Look in bargain bins in vinyl shops or in charity/thrift stores
can i use this in my lo-fi music?
holy step city batman

get an audio interface, that'll connect your turntable to your laptop, and pretty much anything else for that matter

What turntable is that?
Dylan Labadie technics 1210 mk2. A true classic. They don't make them any more
Tom Durkin thanks!
0:10 just hold your middle finger between label and grooves and pull it back
should i get this or an mpc500?
I would say only get an SP404 if you like lo-fi sounding beats, that's where its strength is. The MPC is more of a 'serious' beat making machine IMO.
Phillip Morrison get an MPK mini 2 they are on sale for less than 100 dollars at guitar center. it has 25 keys and 8 drum pads
I already have a midi keyboard.
Record?
First one I mean
TheCommonDingus Do you mind checking out my music?
TheCommonDingus all in love is fair - David(I don't know his last name)
Sample?
What's the song you used to sample?

I doing the same everytime
