    According to torah/jewish law, one is only allowed to twist the truth in 3 instances, a) to save a life, b) for matters of peace between husband and wife, c) for modesty about one's torah knowledge (for example, if one asks "did you finish all of the talmud?", even if one did, one is permitted to say "i wish" or "yeah right" to twist the truth out of modesty.
