Really enjoying the series! Quick question - what is the benefit of using a file node after the file cache node vs. just ticking “Load from disk” on the file cache node itself? Speed?
Hey Joe! Our studio uses the HIP filenames for the versioning of our work. In older versions of Houdini, if version up our files with the "Load from Disk" option, it fails to pull information from a broken relative path. So we made another File node to manually point to the caches absolute path. Good news! - we have to do this anymore, the new File Cache node has in-built checkboxes to manage these, so we don't do this 2-node setup anymore :)
@@jojokooku from episode 3 onwards, the rendering setup is included. Unfortunately, didn't record the rendering setup for the first two episodes, but the concepts are identical in the following episodes in the series! Great tuts. Favourite thing is the process overview at the start.
Thanks Josef! It does help to look at the map, before going on a road trip!

You can also use the new attribute remap node for the age. Works really well.
