Roch I didn't know Jamaica had a 5000 dollar bill,I knew about the 500 dollar bill
So in 2018 I was in Jamaica,6 of us at Rui,I taught I was tipping the waiters 500 dollars Jamaica which is like 20 usa to me
I feel terrible staying at these expensive places and knowing the workers are making about 1usa an hour so I tip well to feel better.
The expression on the waiters faces startled my grand daughter lol
I notice it too but taught nothing of it,so she said grandma let me see one of those money and gave her one
She said grand ma do you know this is 5000 and not 500
I was like ,they have a 5000 dollar bill, all the bills were 5000 and not 500
Lesson learn, they both look so much alike, when I finally got a 500 dollar bill

If i remember correctly it is quite distinguishable. The difference is in the color of the note. 500 is brown or some earthy tones and 5000 is a mix of brown/blueish/purple hues. But they should by now make the 5000 more distinguishable. Make it a full blue or something.

This means your budget for this video should beJMD$1314. The rate you used would be applicable if you went into the bank and wanted to buy $10USD, it would cost you JMD1509.00. If you immediately tried to sell back to the bank, you would get $1314 for the same 10USD they just sold you. Hope this helps. Great video anyway.

Around 40 years ago it would have cost a lot less. Inflation has certainly made the Jamaican dollar not as good as it was back in the early 1980s. But it is good to see that people are adaptibg to a fistful of dollars. Very well executed. Well done. I went to school on the Red Hills road for a year and then to Meadowbrook high for a few months before returning to the UK.

@@shoshannanina5359 exactly. Most Jamaicans are barely surviving but would think family abroad would be in a better position to help out. But I know first hand that life overseas is not all bed and roses. You have to work twice as hard to survive as cost of living is higher.

JAM $5000 = $ 50 US. How easy is it to spend $50 US dollar at the store? I don't see a difference. Infact, a lot of things are actually cheaper in Jamaica.

@@ava6870 Actually yes. In Mandeville, Jamaica I can walk into any restaurant and buy food between $350- $700. Which averages about $3.50 to $7 Canadian, less if it's US DOLLARS. The average price for food in Canada or the US at a Jamaican restaurant is $12-$25 US/CAD ($1200- $2500 JAMAICAN). Do you buy an average food in a restaurant in Jamaica at that price? I am a person who is always doing the conversion both at home and abroad and nuff tings cheaper a Jamaica.

When I travel with hubby or friends locally or internationally we always hit up the local supermarket for snacks and grocery we can cook (if there is a kitchen) to keep the cost down so we don’t have to eat out everyday. On a trip to Italy we made curry chicken one night while in Rome 😂. Plus you find snacks and food items to take home as souvenirs for super cheap and some of these same items you end up seeing being sold at the airport’s duty free shops for 2 to 3 times higher prices.

Stayed in Jamaica just before covid. Just stayed at the global villa near lucea.Great place by the way. The best in my opinion. Ate local food and the most expensive part of the trip was the flight. Cant wait to go back when covid is over Ackee and saltfish was my favorite meal. Heck i would eat it for dinner some days. Thanks for what you do. I was able to go there cheaper than i would has been able to go most places in the states including the flight.

I like how your top central and lateral incisors are round-bottomed instead of flat-bottomed like most people. It's also nice how the central incisors are larger and longer than the lateral ones. I can't stand when a person's entire top row of teeth are all the same size and same length
