I have a compass and a compass duo. I love both. Even solo, I fish from the duo anytime I’m inshore, which is like 90% of the time for me. I know there’s way less bells and whistles, but I love the actual cockpit space on the compass way more than the outback, as well as the hull shape during surf launches and choppy days.
I’ve got over over 3 season in the Compass, exclusively in salt. i remember when they were a little over 2k. Now it’s approaching 3k. At that point, they’d better start fitting them with side pockets or more storage options at the very least. Then again, it is Hobie…
Hello from Athens Greece ! You could say that this kayak is a "must have" for inshore fishing ? At which weather condition you don't trust this boat ?I hope for your answer
Hello to our friends in Athens. I do like my Compass, but I will tell you that I like my outback even better for inshore fishing. That is mainly because the outback has more organization features, and is also a little more stable in rough water. the Compas is great on flat water, but if the water gets rough, it can be a bit less stable. Thank you for watching.
I do also have a review on the outback, if you want to see some of the differences. Here is a link to that video. m.ruclips.net/video/MZU9Q_53qVQ/видео.html
My 2021 compass' pad eye broke ... on my 6th trip out ... 6th!!! . Had to youtube how to make a stainless steel fix ... for almost $3k .. very cheap plastic ... note i have heard the seat clips also break too 😮
Of the five kayaks I own, I would probably say my Hobie outback is my all-around favorite. It is incredibly stable, comfortable, has lots of organizational features, and does pretty well in rougher water. I do also have a review of that boat on my channel. Thanks for watching.
It’s funny you mention that. I actually have a rectangular hatch that I picked up a couple of weeks ago to make that change. Great minds think alike. Thanks for watching!

Agreed. It is very versatile. Tight lines!

Can you stand to fish in it?
At 220 lbs, I can not, but my 170 pound son can. I can stand to pee, but that’s about it 😆
I can stand to fish in my outback and in my pro angler
No way
