- Part 5 of 5: Classic Game Room reviews GRAN TURISMO 5 for Playstation 3, this time focusing on online multiplayer, competitive driving over the Playstation Network and Season Events and Challenges that Polyphony Digital updates for each "season", every couple of weeks. This CGR review has Gran Turismo 5 online gameplay showing GT5 online game play video during this driving videogame for Playstation 3. Also shown are the menus which feature the Seasonal Challenges for late 2010 and 2011. Also features online time trial events for time trials against people all over the world.

Very cool review! I think your 5/5 review is the best around, it totally covers the spectrum and as someone else also said: you also managed to catch the game. Too many reviewers play the game for a few hours and then think they know enough to review it. Bzzzt, WRONG! Very, very, cool and well done! kudo's to you guys!

Thanks to channels such as this one, I have been re-discovering the PlayStation 3. It has such amazing games available for it and I will continue to enjoy playing them for years to come. Now... if only the installation of Gran Turismo 5 would hurry up. ;)

@shadowtsunami thanks for the tip. so you can add music? or was soul on display already on there? i was too busy racing getting my level up instead of figuring out how to change the music. i just turned the music down so that you barely hear it. the sound of the engine was much better.

@VanMedia , Imagine if all of those things were already on the disc like one would expect? Imagine if we all bought a complete game, rather than downloading gigs of updates? Imagine how crazy that would be?

very nice review,u need a review this long with a game as long awaited and full-some as this. took the plunge and bought a t500rs with wheel stand pro, makes the game awesome very pleased i was playing until 2 and 3 in the morning. Dirt 3 works very well also. the wheel is not cheap first wheel ive bought but its a joy to use,rock solid, uber smooth & detailed.
How do you put your replays straigt on to youtube ? I am also a massive GT5 fan
Those seasonal events are what sold me on the game. They alowed u to get tons more money then the SP races and really helped me find my favorite cars in the game!

is it possible to link up 2 x playstations via LAN for 2 player between friends? or do both playstations need to connect to the internet via a hub?
Just picked this one up and I'm loving it so far. I'm not even a big fan of racing games usually, but I was looking for something a little different from my normal routine. Only issue I had with it was all that downloading you gotta do when first putting in the game. It's worth the wait though.
Good review.GT5's online wasn't that good at the start,but from patch to patch it got better and currently I do enjoy online in GT5 a lot.
Nice review, watched all 5. I had PS3 with prologue but sold it with disappointment and got an X Box and Forza 3. It was better than that prologue rip off but I am a GT fan since GT 2. My favorite aspect of the GT series is the "Real World Cars", the old units that you can actually own which brings me to my main gripe: I miss the vehicle background and history that GT 2 had, it was like a magazine on classic cars. No other game has matched it. If GT 5 did, it would be time to move back.

Great review. I love this game and put many hours in it and I still haven't tried online or the course maker yet. Too busy trying to buy all the cars I like. Next I hope to save up for one of them 10 million dollar F1 cars. 8 million more to go.

This is my favourite racing game ever, well, the series. I have a wheel and it's awesome to play. If you're really into racing games get a wheel and play this it makes the experience 10 times better.

Decided to buy GT5 after Mark's review (part 2, I guess). Definitely better than Forza3 - in overall. But "standard"cars piss me off. Cannot understand a car model without a cockpit. Forza3 has more cars with cockpit than GT5 it seems to me for now. 5 years wasn't enough to finish the game or BD capacity is not sufficient to store all the "correct"car models? I doubt it. So races like VW Polo cup is frustrating, but overall the game is very good, 90 of 100, I'd say.

...And the multiplayer still lives and kicks, even after 1.5 year from the release. Would be good if you could do an Spec 2.0 review, just for the heads up.

@squatch00 how does that even work? there are several videos that have it that i know of
I wish there was a custom championship for arcade or A-Spec Practice. The championships in A-Spec are kinda short, only 5 or 6 races. I'd like to make longer ones, where I can chose opponents, no. of races, tracks, point allocation, etc. Plus you could kinda recreate real life championships such as DTM, FIA GT, Super GT, BTCC or whatever.

Samsung 3.0 Note/Tab repeat gameplay or just mod your save, the online modes are dead so it doesn't really matter.

i love how ppl of different countries have their own ways to drive, ex: portuguese ppl do borin drags in ss route 7, english ppl trade cars on top gear test track, japanese ppl drift in ss route 5 and tsukuba, german and italiaan ppl do real races in monza. I love Gt5
4:45 That reminded me once when I was on SSR5 with a bunch of people. Someone was driving a go-kart whilst we were all driving supercars and since the go-kart couldn't keep up, on a straight I just shot right past it and was like "THE FUCK WAS THAT?!"

Hey everyone I was playing GT Mode and when I tried to start a race I was watching my driver and had no conrol. Also when I tried Kart Racing it wouldnt start even though I had a Kart it said I needed one can someone please help me?

For anybody who wants to try the Seasonal Events: I highly recommend you search online for the best settings to use on the cars (many people have posted them in various forums and videos); you'll have a MUCH easier time getting first place.
GT5 would have gotten way better reviews if it had been released with the current update already installed. The seasonal events add so much re-play value to the game. Now I just hope they add matchmaking, a little more damage, and F1/Nascar full season DLC, and it'll be a perfect game.

online sounds like a blast, im a bit put off by the out of place "level up" system thou, but other than that im gonna give GT5 a chance.

@Eagle1337 Some don't, but in avarage they handle more realisticly than in any other game.
About physics, the only problem is the crash physics. The cars still crash like bumper cars. But rest of the physics are very good.
Ok im sold. Prologue left such a bad taste in my mouth I hadn't even considered the full version... and that's after preordering every GT game to date... time to go shopping. :)
@Jsilverstreak it added a bunch of different events that restrict your car... which is what forza 2 and 3 already did, but 3 to a much greater extent.
the next big step gran turismo should take is making every single event a multiplayer online event. so every time you run the clubman cup your driving against other players not Ai.
@hannes123456 The fact that you get to customize many cars, race them, go online and meet many people to have fun with. You can drive all out. The endurance races that can test what kind of a person you really are, the sheer amount of history behind the game, the tracks, and the cars, and much much more.
Now pay attention. Just because YOU don't think something is interesting doesn't mean that it isn't. Idk what kinds of games you like to play, but learn to appreciate other kinds of games.

hopefully he might extend to a 6th part after a LOT of updates completely improve the game so well that he would HAVE to review the updates (standard--->premium upgrades, new lobby features, DLC for classic courses and all new cars, etc.)
they need to have the Gumpert Apollo as DLC! And a $5 X2010!

Yeah for an individual race. I mean custom championships, where you have more than 5-6 races in a championship. I'm not talking about the length of an individual race. And also custom championships allow you to do more things (which I've talked about in my previous post) which would add more replay value and variety to the game.
