Thanks to channels such as this one, I have been re-discovering the PlayStation 3. It has such amazing games available for it and I will continue to enjoy playing them for years to come. Now... if only the installation of Gran Turismo 5 would hurry up. ;)

@shadowtsunami thanks for the tip. so you can add music? or was soul on display already on there? i was too busy racing getting my level up instead of figuring out how to change the music. i just turned the music down so that you barely hear it. the sound of the engine was much better.

very nice review,u need a review this long with a game as long awaited and full-some as this. took the plunge and bought a t500rs with wheel stand pro, makes the game awesome very pleased i was playing until 2 and 3 in the morning. Dirt 3 works very well also. the wheel is not cheap first wheel ive bought but its a joy to use,rock solid, uber smooth & detailed.

And also custom championships allow you to do more things (which I've talked about in my previous post) which would add more replay value and variety to the game.
Just picked this one up and I'm loving it so far. I'm not even a big fan of racing games usually, but I was looking for something a little different from my normal routine. Only issue I had with it was all that downloading you gotta do when first putting in the game. It's worth the wait though.
Those seasonal events are what sold me on the game. They alowed u to get tons more money then the SP races and really helped me find my favorite cars in the game! Tvr Tamora & Vette ZR1 forever!!

For anybody who wants to try the Seasonal Events: I highly recommend you search online for the best settings to use on the cars (many people have posted them in various forums and videos); you'll have a MUCH easier time getting first place.
I wish there was a custom championship for arcade or A-Spec Practice. The championships in A-Spec are kinda short, only 5 or 6 races. I'd like to make longer ones, where I can chose opponents, no. of races, tracks, point allocation, etc. Plus you could kinda recreate real life championships such as DTM, FIA GT, Super GT, BTCC or whatever.
...And the multiplayer still lives and kicks, even after 1.5 year from the release. Would be good if you could do an Spec 2.0 review, just for the heads up.
Nice review, watched all 5. I had PS3 with prologue but sold it with disappointment and got an X Box and Forza 3. It was better than that prologue rip off but I am a GT fan since GT 2. My favorite aspect of the GT series is the "Real World Cars", the old units that you can actually own which brings me to my main gripe: I miss the vehicle background and history that GT 2 had, it was like a magazine on classic cars. No other game has matched it. If GT 5 did, it would be time to move back.
@Eagle1337 Some don't, but in avarage they handle more realisticly than in any other game. About physics, the only problem is the crash physics. The cars still crash like bumper cars. But rest of the physics are very good.
@ccyungin No, he didn't lie. You really can play snake on here. It's a pain to get it to come up at first but not bad after you get use to it. Just look at the videos on here about it. I just hit the left arrow and up arrow like crazy back and forth and it will come up. Also, you don't have to be at 0:00, it works anywhere on the video.
This is my favourite racing game ever, well, the series. I have a wheel and it's awesome to play. If you're really into racing games get a wheel and play this it makes the experience 10 times better.

@hannes123456 The fact that you get to customize many cars, race them, go online and meet many people to have fun with. You can drive all out. The endurance races that can test what kind of a person you really are, the sheer amount of history behind the game, the tracks, and the cars, and much much more. Now pay attention. Just because YOU don't think something is interesting doesn't mean that it isn't. Idk what kinds of games you like to play, but learn to appreciate other kinds of games.
i love how ppl of different countries have their own ways to drive, ex: portuguese ppl do borin drags in ss route 7, english ppl trade cars on top gear test track, japanese ppl drift in ss route 5 and tsukuba, german and italiaan ppl do real races in monza. I love Gt5
the next big step gran turismo should take is making every single event a multiplayer online event. so every time you run the clubman cup your driving against other players not Ai.
GT5 would have gotten way better reviews if it had been released with the current update already installed. The seasonal events add so much re-play value to the game. Now I just hope they add matchmaking, a little more damage, and F1/Nascar full season DLC, and it'll be a perfect game.
they removed the restrictions (all of them) for seasonal events, now you just have to buy the required car, max it out and buy the best set of tyres(Race Soft) and done, completely destroyed the challenge and fun behind these events.
@Sj2yzZ Do not doubt it. It is an amazing driving simulator. Remember to take it as is, a driving simulator, and a damn good one. It is the best driving simulator in console, comes extremely close to PC Driving simulators. In a nut shell, yes its worth it.

I would like this game but i dont want to buy it and get bored with it in a week like grid and test drive but there is something about this one that looks quite good
@trombonekingdom I usually play GT many weeks in a row. Then I get bored and start playing something else. And then I get interested in GT again and repeat the process.
hopefully he might extend to a 6th part after a LOT of updates completely improve the game so well that he would HAVE to review the updates (standard--->premium upgrades, new lobby features, DLC for classic courses and all new cars, etc.) they need to have the Gumpert Apollo as DLC! And a $5 X2010!

i love racing backwards but thats ususally when im doing a drag with some peeps on the special run i think 5? but i drive really good.... with a driving line, except for my mclaren stealth model, ive masterd that one, but not for drifting. and im canadian eh. and this is the first game were i actually enjoyed driving on the cockpit.
Decided to buy GT5 after Mark's review (part 2, I guess). Definitely better than Forza3 - in overall. But "standard"cars piss me off. Cannot understand a car model without a cockpit. Forza3 has more cars with cockpit than GT5 it seems to me for now. 5 years wasn't enough to finish the game or BD capacity is not sufficient to store all the "correct"car models? I doubt it. So races like VW Polo cup is frustrating, but overall the game is very good, 90 of 100, I'd say.

Good review.GT5's online wasn't that good at the start,but from patch to patch it got better and currently I do enjoy online in GT5 a lot.
@Jsilverstreak it added a bunch of different events that restrict your car... which is what forza 2 and 3 already did, but 3 to a much greater extent.

@624635Mr You have to provide your own cars, but don't worry - If you buy the car for the event, the prize money will pay it off definitely.
