  • In this video I have the pleasure of talking with an incredibly knowledgeable scholar of the Qur'an Sohaib Saeed. He received his Ph.D. from SOAS in London and is also a graduate of Al Azhar University in Cairo where he was trained in Tafsir. He has previously worked with the Global Qur'an Project at the University of Freiburg and is presently working on translating the Qur'an and several exegetical works.
I hope you enjoy the discussion and please remember to like and subscribe to the channel!

This is really interesting channel to follow. I am preparing my magister study at Oxford University focusing on Islamic Studies and History in this October, and almost everyday I always watch your videos in order to broaden my knowledge about Quran and Bible in western scholars' perspectives. ❤

On the topic of Basmalah Dr.Sohaib Saeed talked about, this is I think the greatest example of how muslim should at least be aware of the close relationship and textual, or even liturgical, dialogue between Islam and earlier religions. Basmalah is most explicitly a refelction/reaction to Trinitarian formula, especially in light of Ahmad Al-Jallad's recent discovery of the South Arabian bipartite Basmalah epigraph.

      He is Kafir orientalist !!

@@ME-yp7fn This comment would probably hurt Dr. Reynolds to hear. He clearly has a great amount of love for his muslim bretheren, not to mention the respect and admiration he approaches Islam with.

I definitely agree with this speaker about the 10 forms from the orientalists being useful. The whole زيادة الحروف زيادة المعنى seemed overly simplistic
