And I have seen others refuse to do such a repair. You have the humility to admit mistakes which are inevitable and the skill to know how to fix the mistakes. He's no Shawn Smoak, but he does good work. I gotta say, that Stater 1200 is a really good looking machine. Great job Shawn! They are great police bikes / bikes in general. I've never completely gotten use to the look of their pod style front emergency lights. Very effective though. A few years ago I ran into 3 NV state troopers fueling to start their shifts in Sparks NV. I was a LEO & I said hi. I was on a GL1800 on a trip from MN. They had everything I could imagine on their RTs. Even front & rear video, which wasn't as common as it is now. Dual antenna radar & a lidar. They were going to be switching to Kaw Concours in their very near future. Very interesting seeing all their gear + a few stories.
I really enjoyed this series with the police bike. We can feel your satisfaction...well deserved for a job done right. Now, how about finishing that green four wheeler in your shop so you can make room for that shovelhead!

It's all done, yippeekayay !!! You could have done one more lighting and sound check on your test ride that your viewers would have enjoyed, you know, the testing of ALL the lights while test riding including the pretty red and blue ones, along with a sound check of those special state police speakers, LOL, just to see if all the other drivers would pull off to the side as required by law. With the lights and siren blaring, no one would have even noticed the problem with the indicator light not working haha... but I suppose the state police wouldn't appreciate a full blown lighting and sound check being posted on RUclips, but that would have been fun for us to see. Anyhoo, congrats on completing that challenging BMW monstrous spaghetti wiring project.
When I worked in the auto industry, mechanics would practically run away screaming if you approached them with a work order for an electrical problem. I really felt for you on this one. What a relief for you to be able to see it out the door finally.

Great project ... You deserved to get overtime on this one. You mind never shut off even when you were home you were working on that Police Bike. Those BMWs are high tech and more than ever If I ever get one I hope I know someone like you to take care of mine. Now I'm looking at the 2021 GSA models. Not sure but heated seat option sounds nice. Is there such a thing as a code reader tool a user can check the bike with and if it's something user fixable, fix it and clear the code. I may not want to know the price if there is one.
Question for you Shawn, if another one of these police bikes came in with same wiring issue and they said we need the bike back in service ASAP, how long would it take you to fix it with nothing else to work on? Really interesting series of videos by the way!
During the walk around at @ 5:12 is the right parking light in the headlamp cluster out? The left is visible. I have an earlier RT-P. Always burning out the high beam lamp.
@@TheSmoaksVlogs Enjoy your content, easy pace and always informative. I gave up replacing the bulb, sometimes it would only last a day. Was not interested in the surgery converting to LED for the headlamp. I put a set of Clearwater Darla on the front forks and a set of Erica's on the stalks where the flashing blue LED plastic housings are for the RT-P. Works great. Still have the auxiliary battery so the 100 watt horn works. Removed all blue LED's and disconnected the siren switch. Still have the flashing brake light.
August 6th a very bad day this year. We had water damage in our kitchen. After new cabinets, flooring still waiting for countertop and backsplash. Might be done in January. 2020 the year to forget.

Be careful what you plug into the battery tender connection. I plugged in a heated vest and blew a 20A fuse which also controls the heated grips and headlights.
Many years ago I had a temp job with a dealership in the UK, mostly my job was to collect and return Police vans, cars, and bikes as I was the only one with a bike license. I had to do a short few weekends with the Police to get my permit and some interesting instructions when they needed them back urgently. Nothing compared to riding the bikes during the summer over 80 miles there and back. You just noticed a serious change in driver behavior and stupid reactions = few near misses because of people over braking. Loved it obviously, but the shine soon wore off. I also own an old 12RTP.
I bet you're glad to see the backside of that job! But at the end of the day, it's not necessarily a bad thing to get a job like that every so often, keeps you on your toes. That job would've gone straight to an auto electrician here, no ifs or buts about it.
