I think post-MLM-now-affiliate marketing companies may have to work harder to turn profit from what are essentially parasocial relationships, and one way they could do that is with quality.
I know it’s not strictly beauty but I’m so grateful you shared the info on Tom’s toothpaste. I was using theirs for my 1.5 and 2.5 year olds and have thrown it out. It may not have been contaminated but I also don’t plan on buying from a company who would knowingly release products that could be contaminated. It just shows a company’s ethics.
In italy stores recall foods all the time because they do internal investigations and find oh shit! Something might've gotten contaminated. So they'd rather recall the products just to be safe. Because the law regarding food and cosmetics in Italy are strict as hell and if you get found it's a whole shit show. We had this happen this year with a dairy factory who was found to have unsanitary facilities with rats and rat poop in them. We had a bunch of fast food places be forced to close and shut down in my city of Genova due to cockroach infestations. The police acted quickly on all of them. But I get where you come from expecially since "clean beauty" is often times just a gimmick to sell more products through fear mongering and is not only unregulated but known for their lack of use of preservatives. Which are not as dangerous as people claim. For example in italy we can't use man made preservatives in foods but natural preservatives are okay. Like ascorbic acid or lemon juice. The former being a type of vitamin C. Or potassium stuff I can't remember the name of. The issue is when it comes to beauty, these products aren't kept in a sealed jar and put in the fridge when opened. So they develop bacteria quicker if they don't have strong preservatives. Let alone the fact most of us me included, don't throw away products once they reach the expiration date on the box.
Halo’s mistake was that instead of coming out with a fresh new introductory video introducing themselves as the new owners, they started posting cryptic pictures with new products naturally pissing off Tati’s followers. A lot of us wrote comments and were blocked almost right away. Fine! They don’t want my money. But they also don’t understand that by blocking people who liked the products and liked Tati will simply not buy their vitamins anymore because not only due to them raising the prices like crazy, and secondly now we don’t know whom we are actually supporting. One fail after another on their part. And yeah, the vitamins are actually amazing. Kiwi helped my eczema prone skin a lot.
...In vulnerable patients, Pseudomonas aeruginosa is most commonly associated with such fun things as pneumonia (specifically VAP, ventilator-associated pneumonia, it’s usually contracted because the tubing is not properly sterile / maintained) and a wide array of actual goddamn septic syndromes. And they just had that ish lying around in the vats they make their TOOTHPASTE in??? Brother.... The Paracoccus yeei is also one hell of a thing to find. That thing will get into ANY tissue it can and infect it, and often it’s hard to clock it on a Gram scan to begin with. I’m speechless. Where the hell were they getting their water??????
I don’t know if it’s intentional but I love that the color of the year is a shade of BROWN 🤎 with all of the nonsense that is happening around the world right now and it’s juxtaposition to race I feel like Pantone is saying something without exactly saying it lol obsessed 🙌🏻

And noone could pay me any amount of money to do so!
Morning! I’m in healthcare and I trust the FDA (at least in December 2024) to look out for consumer safety. I’d like to trust Tom’s of Maine, but let’s face it in business all that matters is the bottom line. Thank You So Much Jen for the safety info!
“We have also crossed examined all products to ensure they are still fresh and not expired.” - Okay, well most things (unless they’re clean beauty) have a shelf life 12 months+. It was 15 months where they had NOTHING happening. So even IF they actually look at the expiration date on all the products before shipping them out to make sure they aren’t EXPIRED, they aren’t saying that they’re making sure you’re getting enough of a shelf life to actually USE UP the product. A product can NOT be expired but have only like 1 month left on the shelf life. Not to mention, a lot of products just give a shelf life and don’t give manufacturing dates and specific expiration dates. If a good majority of UOMA products are like that (only having a shelf life), then the brand would have to cross check to see when exactly the batches were manufactured to ensure they actually still had whatever shelf life was listed on the product and once the actual customer gets it, they’d have no idea how much ACTUAL shelf life is left since they’d have no idea when it was actually manufactured.
someone in an earlier comment said that they wouldn’t shop with beautycounter because they made the change to benefit THEM, not out of self-reflection, but because it wasn’t a scalable model. that and clean beauty is why they wouldn’t. i agree with that commenter.
'Would you buy from an x-MLM company that now sells it's products with affiliate links' Such a great question! It has to come down to the product and the price, like any other purchase. If we used Monet, a bottle of REJUVENIQE® OIL INTENSIVE is $171.00NZD. (That is a HUGE amount of money for a hair oil.) But I can buy TYPEBEA Shampoo, Conditioner and Boosting Peptide Serum together for $162.00NZD and TYPEBEA is working for me. So it's an easy choice. If x-MLM companies are still going to charge ridiculous prices for their products they are not going to last long.
after the neutrals and latte makeup, that pantone color just seems late. Though the dessert does look delicious and convey the comfort we need. it also reminds me of the orange man’s diapers…
My wife just sent me the cat sari video the other day- so cute! The Tom's of Maine thing also gives me the ick. I wish they had done a voluntary recall. I think I might be avoiding them from now on. I am definitely happy for MLMs to be going away, but I do feel bad for everyone they exploited that they are now just abandoning.
Not that I will be buying anything from them anyway, but I think that Halo should have pivoted and done haircare, since they're called Halo Beauty, and since they already have a multivitamin for hair. They could do everything except for makeup and leave that to Tati, and the new owner could just try to have a good relationship with Tati since she is the founder who built the company with her own money.
Those Halo posts are so 2015 fitspo quotes! What the heck?! As for BeautyCounter, no, I will not buy from them now that they're no longer an MLM. Two reasons: Firsrly, they only changed it to benefit them, it doesn't suddenly make them self-aware and secondly, they are still a big part of the "clean beauty" misconceptions advocating for anti-science legislation. I used to use their products years ago when I was into all that pseudoscience. I wouldn't knowingly give them any money.
Sending out products that aren't expired isn't the same thing as not sending out old products that expire soon. Would love to see that clarified from people who are receiving Uoma products

Aww the cat video was so cute! We all want to dress our pets! 😂
Excellent use of “we didn’t start the fire” re: UOMA!😂 my grandpa always used to say “they’re not dumb enough to have started the fire, but also not smart enough to have put it out!” I miss his blunt wisdom! ❤
😂😂
All the Beauty Counter moms just went over to a "water free" skincare company called Oliveda. They're also releasing foundation. I don't understand why these women just keep jumping from company to company after they just keep getting crapped on.
I don't care that Beauty Counter has switched, they won't get my buck. I can't separate that they actively disenfranchised so many ppl for so long only to really pull the rug out from their main earners. I'm too anti-mlm and sceptical of clean-marketing to consider them 🤷
Same here. They will continue to NOT get my money.
I’m really not sure what the new owners of Halo Beauty expected.
They probably were not aware that the Brand was tied so tightly to a United States influencer.
@@PamelaH_HappyVibes I hope that's not true. If it was sold to them without that being disclosed in some way it's shady. If they didn't look into the history of the brand beforehand that seems a bit negligent on their part.
@@glitterberserker1029- it depends on if they had enough time to do a thorough due diligence. They probably reviewed the numbers, as they should. I’m sure they asked Clark why he was selling. I wonder what his answer was. 🤦🏼♀️
@@PamelaH_HappyVibes Regardless, you should do your research before buying a whole company.
@@haleyps6929- fair point, I agree!
Charmin was also very excited for this year's color of the year lol
I'm tired of all tati related brands or drama. Let Halo beauty tank so I don't have to hear about those overpriced vitamins anymore.
Halo Beauty needs to hire a competent copywriter with the ability to re-frame the brand while also demonstrating respect for what Tati built.
Pyari! I love her so much. Thank you Jen for the show!
Jen, thanks for the Tom's segment. My grandkids, who are now 15 and 13 used Tom's, but I checked and my 3 year grandson doesn't.
Thank you so very much for that cute cat video at the end, making me feel happy & laugh!
Blessed Be! 🌛🌕🌜
Loved the video as usual! I live in an area with a huge Indian population, and the cat video at the end was everything! ❤
...In vulnerable patients, Pseudomonas aeruginosa is most commonly associated with such fun things as pneumonia (specifically VAP, ventilator-associated pneumonia, it’s usually contracted because the tubing is not properly sterile / maintained) and a wide array of actual goddamn septic syndromes.
I feel that there needed to be a certain Orange colour chosen as well.
Hahahhaah that cat video is my favorite cute video this week!!!!
Can you please do a deep dive on MLM companies like Mary-Kay and Avon? I heard that Mary-Kay has been struggling lately and has been under scrutiny and investigation by companies like Truth In Advertising for deceptive sales practices, etc
That clip at the end was adorable!
My mom is like that with our birds (the cat video) how adorable! And I would never buy from a "once was" MLM brand! They will always have that association for being one and the unethical business practices that it wouldn't seem morally right to purchase from them. And noone could pay me any amount of money to do so!
Maybe Tom's is counting on the new admistration kneecapping the FDA.
THANK YOU for the last video clip too 😆🥰
Morning! I’m in healthcare and I trust the FDA (at least in December 2024) to look out for consumer safety. I’d like to trust Tom’s of Maine, but let’s face it in business all that matters is the bottom line. Thank You So Much Jen for the safety info!
BeautyCounter's reputation is so tainted from years of MLMing i don't think i would ever try... MLM products scream bad quality to me.
Absolutely love the mom on the cat video. I follow her videos regularly 😂
Now that they’re no longer MLM I’m not against shopping with them. If it’s MLM I won’t buy it on principle.
The way they treated the people that worked for them would be a deal breaker for me
@ fair. These MLM companies don’t care about their independent contractors that’s why they’re independent contractors instead of employees.
someone in an earlier comment said that they wouldn’t shop with beautycounter because they made the change to benefit THEM, not out of self-reflection, but because it wasn’t a scalable model. that and clean beauty is why they wouldn’t. i agree with that commenter.
'Would you buy from an x-MLM company that now sells it's products with affiliate links' Such a great question! It has to come down to the product and the price, like any other purchase. If we used Monet, a bottle of REJUVENIQE®
OIL INTENSIVE is $171.00NZD.
I’m anti-MLM and will not be purchasing from companies that used to be MLMs either
after the neutrals and latte makeup, that pantone color just seems late.
I wouldn't knowingly give them any money.
well-said.
I'm loving these cute and sweet videos at the end, I vote that this becomes the last clip for all your Whats Up in Makeup videos!! ❤❤❤
Omg I'm finally early!! Been absolutely loving all the content Jen :D
All the 80s kids heads turning when we hear Billy Joel
The cat video was so cute… 🥰
❤ my favorite time of the week
Sending out products that aren't expired isn't the same thing as not sending out old products that expire soon. Would love to see that clarified from people who are receiving Uoma products
The only way I see of saving Halo beauty is bringing Tati back, give her partnership, and get her support.
Yes, girl! Drop that Billy Joel in!😅
I absolutely adored that cute sari kitty video 😂
Eye look is beautiful today!!! ❤
shout out Hannah Alonzo!
After Tati left, the prices at Halo went up about 15.00 for every single product.
I was gonna say! I could've sworn it was more like $35 when I tried them, and even that was expensive af for what they are.
the tea is extra hot today
I figured Pantone chose that color because next year is going to be a shitstorm … 😮💨😮💨
You said socials are weird and I'm like did they go full nutterbutter? 😅
Going the Tylenol route when there is a product issue will always be the right thing to do in my opinion!
Btw “Ksenjia” is most likely pronounces as Kse-nee-ya. It’s a name of Greek origin. Popular in Slavic countries.
It's Greek, not Slavic, in origin. It's common in Slavic countries as well as Eastern European countries like Russia and Ukraine.
@@CrystalFierOk! Greek. In Russian we say Ксения or Ксюша.
Omg that cat video!! I saw a shorter version but this is just too cute
Thank you, for amazing information on the hard work you put into it I love your honesty. I keep coming back to your channel. Hang in there.❤❤ happy holidays everyone and be safe out there😊
I love Beauty Counter mascara and I only bought it once to help a friend out. I'm super excited about it not being a mlm anymore. I will definitely be buying now.
The cat at the end ❤
My Russian Blue would NOT tolerate that.
That was so cute!
THANK YOU for mentioning Tom's toothpaste. GROSS!! Just sent them a message asking why they can send all sorts of emails about promotions but didn't do the same for this serious issue. And how I can get a refund for the tube I just bought!
I've used this brand for years so if anyone has some alternative suggestions let me know 😵💫
cat totally analyzing it's loving owner :) that was adorable Jen!!!!
Thank you for the cat!❤❤❤❤❤
I have seen that cat tiktok and it warms my heart! My cat would never even though she looks like that cat’s twin. The cat looks excited to wear human clothes lol ❤
They deactivated the comments now on Halo Beauty....
I’m glad Beautycounter is no longer a MLM as I really like their skin care and makeup. I will purchase again. They definitely do need bigger shade ranges and lower prices to be more competitive in my opinion.
28:38 aaaaaaahhh I'm screaming!!! I use that brand for my toddler!!!!
This is so alarming.
I trust Tom's about as much as I trust their deodorant.
Sick burn!
Yassss Johnny Ross! She's made itttt
Send him a DM. They reply to comments on RUclips but more so when the episode just aired!
Can we have cats at the end of every video??? 🙏
Love that you watch Hannah Alonzo. 😊
I just want to give a shout out to Uoma beauty. I bought one of their eye shadow palettes at the recommendation of Katie Jane Hughes because it had a really unique yellow color. I was blown away by the formula and I couldn’t believe no one was talking about the brand. The packing was really cool and unique as well. This was before things went sideways however I would still recommend giving their shadows a try (hopefully they are the same formula). Very underrated brand!
as a mocha lover :) so happy for this year's Pantone color :D thrilled !!!
👍 to all the research
Nah. I dont get the excutement over pantone's colour of the year. I think it would be great for 2023 or 2024... but it doesn't feel like trendetting for now. Marsala was great.
that cat video at the end made my day
Thanks for the PSA on how the algorithm works. I sub to over 500 creators and my home feed doesn't have enough space for all of them. It would be nice to get an expanded home page with everyone. Maybe some day. Oh and for Sari cat, Sari cat made my 6am coffee. Too cute.
