I did not have so much luck in trying to restore/refoam a pair of Infinity SS 2003s that I got from a thrift. Turns out one of the woofers was dead which got reformed anyhow. This is A LOT of messy work. I was picking glue off my fingers for days.
Hey! I need to refoam a pair of RS6s and it's hard to get good quality speaker surrounds here in Canada - most places don't ship here for some reason. Can I buy yours?
I tried looking up the Band "Drawn by Dull Eyes" by I couldn't find anything on RUclips or Google. Is it music you've made? Where can I find these guys?
I will carefully consider this! I think my goal was somewhat meditative, but I will don the headphones and approach it from your angle. I think I just get proud that I don't use the generic techno stuff I hear everywhere else so maybe I am abusing my power haha.
@@thethinkerer The music is certainly great! and I think that it is awesome that you are not using some generic techno stuff. Its just that for me as someone who wants to relax to your great and informative video there is so much of it, constantly changing and it is really loud in comparison to your voice, or things you are actually doin and it gets distractive. If I were you I would just choose a few of those music bangers you have, put them into the video and make them a nice relax undertone. Otherwise Keep up the good work!
Your not saving much redoing the surrounds , & there's plenty of replacement speakers that are BETTER than the originals that cost only slightly more than the kit , & for the price of 1 can of de ox it you can replace 2 pots
The level of satisfaction I attained from fixing the originals is paramount! I was, and still am, excited to see those old rheostats that said Boston, Mass. on the back, and seeing how user-serviceable they were by removing those ceramic backs off them! I also kind of like the look of the bullet shaped dust caps that the original woofers have. No regrets!
@@thethinkerer Me too. Satisfaction, guaranteed. I also had to eventually replace the foam rings on my 15" woofers of my home made speakers that I threw together back in 1978. They each have the one 15" woofer, 2 mid-range drivers, and 4 tweeters. Plus It felt real good to also have recently restored my Soundcraftsmen PE 2217 Preamp/Equalizer. I restored all 24 potentiometers, with 22 of those being slide potentiometers. Like you, I also used the Deoxit D5 to clean all potentiometers, and restore contact on the few that had become intermittent. What took the longest, was adding silicon lubricant to the 22 slide potentiometers, since they had to be lubricated both internally and externally. Now they slide with what feels like almost no resistance at all.

Yup I was a bit nervous trying it out, to me the long set time of the glue was relentless!
The joy of playing the knee-slap drums and the rewarding feels of keeping true to the rhythm! Noice vid, and impressive work!
I can knee slap like a fothermuckin riot!

The place on ebay that I got mine from says, "Ships to U.S. and worldwide shipping" Maybe try them out? www.ebay.com/itm/113723785092
That's a killer A shirt!
I stay custom fitted.
Love the robe...LOL...Nice job on the speaker though.

Yes that is my good friend's project! He does great work and has plans to put up on soundcloud and/or youtube in the near future!
You can drop in there as long as the solvent does mess with the insulation
Great video! Just next time, dont put so much music in it.
man music is fine but just maybe keep volume lower and low whole time, kid noise 1:38 keep

@@thethinkerer I hear ya, they look cool, to each his own
You don't replace original infinity speakers ,unless you are ignorant to the facts .
@jeffbower100 really what facts are those ?
