Thank you. The sleeve band measurement depends on the size you are doing and the depth of band you want. Your pattern should give this measurement, or measure the child's arm. Thanks Christine
Thank you so much for the detailed instructions. I received a smocked dress that is more than half finished that someone did not want. It is beautiful. But there are no instructions for finishing it. The inside lining on the top portion is not stitched down, neither is the binding on the sleeves (sleeves are in), or the side seams or hems. This is great. It has been a long time since I have made a dress and your instructions are very detailed. I am sure now to complete this beautiful dress for my granddaughters 3rd birthday.
Thank you very much for this video. May I ask how you would pleat fabric that is wider than the pleating machine? Pleat the fabric two times aligned properly?
@@a.g.150 Pleat 8 rows first leaving the threads long enough to flatten the fabric out then put through again and do the 24 rows but lining the last needle up with the last row of the 8 you did. Hope that makes sense, but I think you had figured it out anyway. Thanks Christine
@@houseofsmocking Thank you so much. We tried with the full 24 rows first - with mediocre success. The idea of pleating only 8 rows didn't occur to us.
@@a.g.150 if you are smocking from the should to waist, then if you do the short amount of rows first, the neckline and armholes are cut out of this area, so it shows less. It does take a lot of practice to get the two lots to line up.
Wonderful video! Feel inspired.
Thank you
thankyou so much from srilanka
Beautiful! I have learned a lot.
What are the measurements to cut sleeve and band.
Thank you.

How many rows do you want to pleat?
@@houseofsmocking 31 rows with 1 cm spacing. But we only have a 24 rows pleater.

Iv been holding off on buying a pleater until I found these videos. I feel like I can do this
It is very addictive
where can i get this pattern from in australia?
Sorry I don't know any shops in Australia but I do post to Australia
What age is this for please
I think I made it for a 3 year old but it is a long time now since I made it. The instructions would be the same regardless of age
May I ask what do you mean by “tack it.” Thx
Tack it means do long running stitches to hold in place instead of using pins.
