    Hi Matt, love watching your video when I can, I’m a former cosmetologist, love learning what I may have missed in cosmetology school of cutting hair. To be a better at cutting hair, a person can’t no learn enough about any given career.

    I really love this square layered look for long to medium hair , density ! I will surely use your technique at the shop on my long hair ladies. I remember wearing something similar to this style in the late 80’s. And I really love it on my coarse thick asian hair. Thank you for another fabulous work!

    Why didn’t you clean up the ends at the back? Or at least give it a sold cut before the layering to give it a clean line. The ends look ratty

  • @kevseb66
    @kevseb66 2 года назад +6

    If you don't explain how square layers differ from round layers or convex or concave then you aren't teaching anything. Most folks know before they enter school or any class you can create a layer in the hair by hold it out from the head and cutting. You should begin with an explanation or a definition of square layers. Then how it differs from other layering techniques specifically explaining how each will effect the hair. Is your goal to teach or just to create content?

    Hairdressers never section out my hair when they cut layers. They just grab chunks of hair and start cutting! I hope they watch this! Great work!

      A lot of people have tons to say, but only want to spend pennies on the dollar. You have to pay for perfection guys. $20 and $30 cuts will almost always be quick, condensed cutting. That kind of money doesn’t support the hourly rate. Some of you only pay$15. Check yourself!

    Hey Matt, Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I am self taught through the Pivot Point Curriculum this was back 15 years ago (practiced on friends, family, and people I met). You do an amazing job with hair. And I understand the techniques and language you use. But what about simplifying it (showing different ways to where the 'cut') this might broaden your reach and perhaps get more viewers. (just a thought) :)

    You do know that the layered cut you did here is a replica of the 60's-70's shag except you styled it differently!!!

    • @DeeCee1878
      @DeeCee1878 4 года назад

      That is what I hate about this cut. Not sure why anyone would want shaggy ends and thinner, wispy hair in the back. This cut forces you to style it everyday, which encourages frizz and damage to already short layers.Hate the shag, though his instruction is very good.

    I am obviously missing something in this tutorial! Matt obviously has selected an arbitrary length in the back for this haircut, but where does he get the guide for the sides and the top? How does he ensure the length will be the same? Nowhere is it shown how to obtain this guide to continue the haircut!

    I just went to very bad hairdresser in the mall in Bruno. She cut big chunks and try to smooth it out with male hair clipper then brow dry with c curve style, so I ask her nicely to brow dry straight but she laugh and say this is straight I wondering c curve how can she checking the hair haha but after c curve she said “done” then I have to tell her to please use thinning scissor because I see it is uneven and big blunt. I have to point every where that look blunt for her to smooth it out. This shop is not cheap and she don’t know I’m a hairdresser.🤣I wish you are here. I will put you in my pocket and go everywhere haha

    You say "grab some of the new hair and cut some of the old" I feel like I'd risk cutting too much of the old or not be sure how much length to take off the new.
