This more sounds like a story from some gawaar shithole place in India. Sasuma wala story. Here is how you can approach this differently. I did my engineering in u.k and masters in usa. Rules that i followed
      1. Stay away from fellow Indians, desi food and culture. If you are paying high for international experience. Get one.. Integrate into that society.. Stay with foreign ppl , adopt tha place diet, and experience life of that society.
      2. Never depend on others or other ppl opinion for student/part time jobs.. Do ur own research and apply for it through proper channels and network. I easily found many part time and even full time employment after studies on my own.
      3. Always do ur research and plan before you go about expense management, where to shop cheap, how to prepare cv, change visa etc. Everything shud be properly planned and kept. It will work out, stay positive I got a corporate job after studies and now run my startup for over years.
      4. The only thing right is about the mindset. Yeah if you have the right positive mind set and stay away from negative PPL. You will do good. I stayed in single room in shared flat with Europeans . All good. If u have the local nalla mentality and want to be a lazy looser who wines and complains and want to drink moms milk sit at home. Study local.. These type of ppl ruin the culture of that foreign land and can't integrate into society there.. They will create mini India and eat gol gappa and gossip. Good luck.

This is the most honest video ever. I have struggled in undergrad because of this too, fake friends who act like friends and end up betraying, kissing seniors's asses for work, fickle friendships. And it's funny how we think people mature up by then or post grad will not be like that. But truth is people are same everywhere circumstances change, and 'fitrat' Kabhi Nahi badalti. Best it to lay the rules from before and not over indulge in any one person, no one's there to make friends, all are their to make career

It's been 6 years since i've been to the states from Japan. I am a SWE at google. It's not just indians, it's with everyone. Life is hard but learn to stay alone. It's the process to discover yourself. Don't be pussy. Yes, please learn to socialize , learn to earn more. Yes , you can make millions, you just have to learn the process. I can agree back in my hometown . mom used to cook for me , wash my clothes and as a typical asian dad , my father just wanted me to get good grades and a good job with a good amount of paycheck. But, trust me, i was prepared, my mindset is very different, i like to stay in best shape possible, I eat good, I accepted that i came alone and i have to make everything on my own and fucking yes i did it. I never thought i would have a gf but i've been in a happy and healthy relationship since for 3 years. The socialising part here in the states is weird but you have to mget into the american culture and learn how to talk to people. I got my dream car, Tesla model S. I got myself a house in Bay Area worth $1.3M. You might think , how this is possible , a japanese kid once had a dream to be successful and he is now. It doesn't matter if you are indian or not. Everyone has to struggle in their life for the fortunes they want.
DON'T BE A PUSSY ! That's what a man once said to me when i was doing my undergrad. I took that personally.

They even organized buses for International students to take us to SSN office for free. Getting a full time job depends on your approach but ofcourse location do play an important role.

This is so damn accurate !! I mean starting with the first struggle you mentioned, I personally did not have a job for quite a long time and then COVID hit us !!! Secondly, the way you put the "Bigg Boss" scenario in place is so true, it literally feels like that at some point!! And last but not the least; anxiety, loneliness, depression, crying to sleep, waking up with stress, going through everything with a smile because you cant complaint about the stuff, everything comes in an unseen package with your visa stamp. But, everyone does it, and everybody gets through it !!! Nothing can be achieved without struggling so, to all the new students dreaming big, dream it, but also be prepared to face all the tough situation !!!! :)

Luckily I got one good flatmet who was even younger than me. It's all showd me what real struggle is. Doing job, assignments, cook meal, cleaning on our own is horrible. Darkest days in my life. The problem he shared with roommates is legit. Its not just in America but in India as well. Its basically anywhere you go when you are sharing rooms. It has been six years since I have been living outside from home premises moving from one location to another. I have changed a lot of roommates, lived with many individuals and trust me its not easy to adapt. But eventually you get the hang of it. When you are living with people from different background and culture; there will be differences...you have to accept and ignore certain flaws. No one is perfect, they will accept yours and you have to accept theirs.

    They can’t see the journey
    And also agree with roommates
I came from israel where i had same friends 8,10 peoples who were there and we came here one by one they changed.
Even if u ask them how much they pay u per hour? ( we are not asking for job details or where he is working) just simple question and they will say “its ok” or “managing..”
Even one of my friend bought a car and said to me “don’t tell anyone yet..”
like cmon man u already purchased it and why ur hiding it,?

And on the other hand I helped him so much and shared so much knowledge and experience without keeping any secrets.
I learnt that we should be choosey on what to share with whom.
But few people are not like this, always make friends having similar attitude and behavior as us.

Fuck dude!!! So true!!! I have experienced this too!! Being lonely and this feeling is so bad!! Cooking food , akele raho use mobile and akele khana khao!!! Y? Bcoz roommates side you and do groupism...This was my experience when i came in spring!! But eventually I have learned about things!! Still, long way to go and learn things!!! Stay strong and focus on your growth is what i have learnt!!
And i have experienced 100% of the things you have said!!!

I should say I live in India far from home for a job. These are the exact struggles I faced here too. I am still confused about whether to face these struggles coming there or here.

We can ease off some struggles if we all get united and work together as Indians in getting on campus jobs internships and share information and resources about jobs ,interns ,being compatible in rooms sharing responsibilities mutually will help.I know that's easy to say but since yudi bhai has given us an picture of reality we can prepare ourselves before we go to USA . To be a good and helping indian students community
