The Chinese tech giant launched the Luxeed R7 at its fall product event today, marking the second model under the Luxeed brand after the S7 sedan. This release introduces the first coupe SUV under Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business. Positioned in the mid-size SUV market alongside the Tesla Model Y, the Luxeed R7 aims to capture customer interest through competitive pricing and advanced driver assistance software.
The Luxeed R7 is built on Huawei's Giant Whale 800 V high-voltage platform, giving it impressive dimensions. It measures 4,956 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width, and 1,634 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The model comes in both single-motor and dual-motor variants, with the highest-priced Ultra variant featuring dual motors. Performance varies between the two, with the single-motor rear-wheel-drive version accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.9 seconds, while the dual-motor four-wheel-drive variant achieves the same in just 3.9 seconds.
In terms of battery options, the Luxeed R7 offers two capacities: 82 kWh and 100 kWh, providing a CLTC range of 667 to 802 kilometers. The vehicle has Huawei's Tuling Intelligent Chassis, which incorporates a smart road recognition system. It also features Huawei's Qiankun ADS 3.0 driver assistance system, which leverages AI technology to deliver a human-like assisted driving experience. Advanced intelligent driving functions, such as valet parking and vehicle summoning, are also part of the package.
