I am looking for some UI components like Kendo, Syncfusion, etc, but the cost was so high for those types of components. Now you mention the way to get Syncfusion almost as free so really glad to hear from you.

I'm putting the finishing touches to my first Blazor (Server) app. I was initially building everything from the ground up, but it was taking so long I switched to using Radzan Blazor Components. It looks a heck of a lot better than I was able to do with my awful design skills, and the added built in functions such as the table filtering and pagination just made the application far more user friendly with very little that I needed to do to add it. There have been a couple of issues along the way, but on the whole it's been excellent.

Atually, I used to have a look at Syncfusion when doing MVC. I like some of their elements especially the rich text editor. Also I had a look earlier at Radzen. One of the things that is really nice is the tool to generate CRUD based on a db schema. That saves a lot of time and you can do some final modifications based on that. But probably after you mentioned that Syncfusion for Blazor, I did have a look again there. I just like their elements a little more. Again the rich text editor but one more that I haven't seen and actually would like to use is the query builder though still in preview. I did manage to do that and store it in a database, but theirs just looks way better. So will have a look at that as well.

I made my first web tool with blazor and radzen in just 5 days for my company, and I never made any web before (and it's not too simple, and also not too ugly). I'm a desktop developer with mostly WPF experience, but I fell in love with blazor very quickly.

Feedback on MatBlazor:
I've been building a Blazor application since January and started with MatBlazor. It has great components, BUT when it comes to styling customizations it gets really tricky. I found myself having to override almost all styling and sticking "!important" everywhere throughout my css file. I eventually ended up removing MatBlazor, and building my own light-weight components backed by bootstrap.
MatBlazor is a great tool, but if you find that you just need to do simpler, more customizable things, you may want to explore the rest of the list instead.
Just wanted to share some feedback on MatBlazor. As always, great content and you're very much appreciated Tim Corey!

Thanks Tim - I swear by DevEx components at work (mostly for WPF and MVC), their Blazor components are still being developed, and as I found, may be missing out on capabilities that are available for MVC.
Wow, I didn't realize that about the Syncfusion community licensing - will def sign up! I was taking a heartfelt look at their WPF components wondering if I should buy myself a personal license.
IMO, SF appears to be a bit ahead of DevEx with their Blazor controls (well at least the DataGrid which is what I'm interested in.)

Absolutely, great list of resources. On the Syncfusion webpage, there is a great tutorial, google "blazor-succinctly series", although I only superficially checked it. But, I looked your previous youtube tutorial with Blazor components (the todo list one), and that clarified the basics for me. Tim, please prepare something more advanced with database, perhaps employing some of the resources mentioned. But don't make it too complicated, something less complex than your Blazor course material on your page.
Some content that I think you will like is coming soon. Stay tuned.

Just to mention:
- Devexpress is free, although this offer is not forever (it is somewhere in the details, and it can be costly for bigger and longer projects later on)
- Radzen is great, although also not completely free (you can change theme with the paid version only, or adjust the style manually which is painful)
Actually I favor syncfusion, it has a large set of controls and really free for new businesses, while it offers some support.

Didn't know syncfusion was free for individuals. Never thought about context menu or some of the useful things Blazor extension offer.
I have a request for a future video. It will be good to learn how we can use non Blazor styling frameworks to build custom components.
Can you explain what you mean by non-Blazor styling frameworks?
@@IAmTimCorey I was talking about CSS frameworks like Bulma, Materialize... etc. Almost all of this frameworks have CSS and JavaScript files which makes it difficult to use with Blazor. At least I couldn't figure out easily. It will be good if you can do a video how we can utilize the existing frameworks in custom blazor components. Thanks.

One remark about the syncfusion components (something I bumped into myself): you can’t use it for any client. The client must also meet the requirements for the community edition. Was a bit of a nasty surprise after some development work already done 😄
And as for other libraries, I would surely also checkout MudBlazor and Blazority. Especially that last one looks really nice, but that’s probably because I’m not a big fan of the material look and feel 😉
Yep, once you use it for a commercial project, you need to pay for it. That's a good thing to know up front, though.

I have not worked with their tools for Blazor specifically, but they always put out a great product. I didn't include them in this video because they don't offer free Blazor tools (just a free trial).
Thanks for this I have evaluated all of these and some of these I cannot use due to the fact I work for a 1bn dollar company. But I am working on a couple of internal projects where I have settled for using blazorise I find that this is my no 1. Yes there are a few things that I am currently finding hard to grasp but that is due to documentation sample but I will get there. Any way demo next week with other devs, and thank you for pointing out chart.js that's come on in the last few months.

I've been using blazorise for a few projects and it's been great, plus it's also open source.
I dont know if anyone else has mentioned this one yet, but you should really check out the opensource project mudblazor - Its my current favorite.
Yes started using it today for the first time. It's better than blazorise and matblazor and using it now for this project as it is awesome

Do you have any course that shows you incorporating these kinds of components into a web app? Some of the past videos of yours I watched were somewhat style-challenged, and many of these components have a pretty cool look. Would be curious to see the high level process one would use to create a data-driven web app of some kind whose UI and controls were primarily components like this.

BUT :) I've tried Syncfusion Blazor Components and the dashboard and it tells me 'The included Syncfusion license is invalid.' do you know if there are different packages? I not everything(as they say) included in the community license? Just wanted to check if you've tried the dashboard with the free license? Thanks
The Syncfusion community license is for all of their products. The issue isn't on that end. My guess is that it has something to do with your configuration. Check the forums to see if there is a solution there.

Did you come across any free resources that also utilized Bootstrap's styling? That was my issue with Radzen, they had similar naming conventions to Bootstrap, but different actual styles.
Good question. I didn't pay attention to that specifically, but the big frameworks tend to use their own styling.

I am very interested in your Learn Blazor Server Course but I have a question before I enrol.
Security is pretty important for the site I have in mind.
Looking around, I notice that there is something called IdentityServer4 that allows the database to be protected at well as the user interface.
Do any of the lessons show how to protect the database with [Authorize] or something similar involving Roles?
IdentityServer does not directly protect the database. Instead, protects your API or web application, which protects your database. We do the same thing with Microsoft's Identity system. We use the Authorize and limit to specific Roles.
Is there something wehere we can download tables with data as Microsocft Excel file :?

I really like MatBlazor i install it in my project and working fine, but i faced a big problem - for me - when i use the RTL direction the text field label dos not move to the right of the field (Arabic direction is form Right To Left) it stays at the left side of the text field which is not acceptable in RTL project, I mention this in the MatBlazor community but until know i did not find a solution for that.
Could you please help on that because i want to use it but with this way i can not.

Talking to the creator and upvoting the issue is the way to go about it there. The key to remember is that it is an open-source project supported mainly by one person. That means they have to choose priorities based upon the entire audience (and what they feel like doing). You could look into creating a pull request with a fix for some or all of the controls.

It isn't the best matchup. I would prefer a Razor Pages/API hybrid app instead.

What if I work for a company that's not software-focused, and our department only has 4 developers? Do I qualify for the free syncfusion community license? Their wording is a bit open to interpretation.
I would recommend you write to the company and ask them. They would be happy to assist you in clarifying the situation.
Did you check out Blazorise? It might not rival others in terms of functionality but it is fully open source and supports multiple CSS frameworks from the get go.

I hadn't seen that before. Thanks for sharing. As for which grid to recommend, that is a tough one. I think I would look at the grids once i knew what the project requirements were because that would drive a lot of my decision. If I had to choose blindly, I would probably choose Syncfusion, since it has so many controls that are designed to work together.
@@IAmTimCorey I looked at the Syncfusion DataGrid and got my hopes up when I saw Templates. But it had no predefined table styles as in Excel. Most of my students don't like css or even html :-) so I was looking for something that would help with that. Do you know of any plug-ins for VS 2019 that helps with css, maybe through a guide where you can choose from popular ones? And what about drag-and drop for html controls into the .razor file and maybe a guide for creating html tables in blazor?

I just wanted to point that if you want to use a different CSS framework instead of Bootstrap, it will break Devexpress charts. Also they are only free for now...
