Wait! I went to Binghamton from 2011-2015 and CIW was amazing (watching your video because I was feeling nostalgic)! OK yes the buildings were older but the community was hands down the best. Perfect combo of people who partied and also people who were low key and chill. Everyone I know who lived there freshman year chose to live there again sophomore year. That being said...it's been like 5 years so maybe it changed. But still truly hold a place in my heart for CIW.
Virtual homecoming just passed and it made me nostalgic, found all these great videos by current students and it made me so happy! A little sad that CIW is so gross now, I was class of '07 and I LOVED it there. Dickinson being beautiful is an absolute trip, it was literally dilapidated when I was there, and apparently Newing will always be for greek life lol. Cheers to all the current students there!
omg you seem so sweet when you said "just breath everything will be okay i promise" was soo nice because i really was nervous about that stuff arghg anyway thank you for this video it was really helpful

@@marianna380 yea having no student loans is def the way to go. Your dad will be ok. I’m not going to bing rho I’m going to uconn 😂how things change in 5 months
juts my opinion but for anyone wanting to live in College in the Woods(CIW) in my experience it was a really good place,I lived in Onondaga building for the 2019-2020 school year and its was always clean and newly renovated (during the summer of 2019). This upcoming school year I'll be living off campus but if I were to be back at the dorms, I would choose CIW as one of my options. And yes she is right; Mountainview has the best dinning hall
I’m going into my junior year and I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do with my life or where I want to go to college but I am definitely going to put this college on my list, it sounds really nice! Still got so many questions tho😂
that’s totally fine!! Everything is on your time so don’t stress you’ll figure it all out☺️ definitely keep it on your list though I think it’s a really good option :)
Anna Suske you can pick your roomate!! And when registration opens up you can put you and your roomate in a specific room! You can choose your suitemates they just need to place themselves in that suite before other people do!! Because it’s all just open space for people to click “join that room”
Just got accepted to BU this year as a senior!! Definitely considering this school! With corona happening, how has that effected your experience on campus?
I committed to bing for the fall of 2020!! My home friends/ girls that I met and I want to get a suite in Mountain view. I have two questions though, what do the bathrooms come with? Like more specifically do we have to buy a shower curtain? Hahaha. Also could you maybe explain here or do a video on how the buses work there? I plan on transferring my part-time job at homegoods to the store near campus BUT my parents aren’t letting me bring my car so I’m lowkey stressing about how the buses work
Yes the bus system comes with the B-Mobi app and it shows all of the schedules!! Also you do need to buy things for the shower, they have a shower curtain liner but me and my suite mates split a shower curtain, shower mats, an outside matt and a little hanging ledge to put the wash cloth and soaps! It doesn’t really come with anything!
I’m transferring from UA as a commuter, so I’m looking forward to dorming. I’m gonna be a Junior and majoring in Chemistry. My friend from HS told me to live on Hinnman because the parking lot is close by and I plan on working during school. Would you recommend and offer more detail? Also do you know if the meal plan is covered in the room and board fee?
Thank you for this video, I noticed the same thing about ciw lol when I visited the campus so yeah I’ll definitely be going for mountainview, as a bap kid, I’m glad to be bringing my car because it seems like what pisses everyone off about bap is the bus
Hi I was in BAP and it was absolutely terrible. The university does not prepare you for the transition from BAP to Bing. The bus comes once every hour and takes 30 min to get to and from each campus and stops around 6PM. You are paying around the same price as Binghamton students to have to take a 30 min bus ride to get to your classes and for an education that is not copmparable to a Binghamton University education. If you get into BAP and you really really want to go to Binghamton, do BAP. Otherwise, choose a different school.
good point! Im was in it this past semester and I guess they stepped it up because many people although thought it could be annoying at times thought it was worth it!! Thanks for the opinion i agree if you want to go to bing, do BAP!
Audrey Joseph it’s a dual school program at binghamton. Only freshman are admitted so if you aren’t in it you don’t need to worry, no one really knows about it anyways!!
Hey!! I’ve committed to bing for next year and this video was so interesting and insightful! Do you know what bing’s thinking of doing for the fall semester concerning rona? I reallyyyy don’t want my first semester of college to be online school 😭
Thanks for the helpful advice! I have a few questions. Is Greek like big at Binghamton? Is there a large variety of healthier food as well? And honestly what is the biggest pro and biggest con of going to school there?
i want to commit but im having trouble convincing my parents because my financial aid wasn’t the greatest. however i got in for spring 2021 instead of fall so i have a little more time to decide
nazifa sumaita I totally understand that!! That’s good that you have time to decide, many people I know came in the spring also, hope you see ya there😊
Hii!! I just committed so I’ve been binging your videos haha. So with the 20% of the wall rule.. what does that even mean? Like i want to hang up posters but how do you know how many wall decorations are too much? It seems silly to me lol
You totally can do whatever you want really. Just when the RA’s come to check the rooms like once or twice a semester (they will give you plenty of notice prior) just take them down just in case then you can just put them back up honestly!!☺️ thank you for the support, I appreciate it!
You can, if they do an inspection they'd just want to see if its marked as fire retardant on the tag but this is easy to fake lol, PM me if you want their exact list of requirements
Hi I haven’t committed to bing yet but for housing is it first come first serve? How does the process work to get picked? Also what made you decide to go to bing?, I’m a English major and I don’t know much about the program?
So every student will receive an email with a specific time slot. Each time slot is for different times over the course of a few days. Many students will have the same time slot as you, (ie: Wednesday from 11am-3pm) but many will have later and earlier ones too. Nothing should completely run out even if you have a later time slot. Earlier time slots are by sophomores, juniors, and seniors or students who have the most credits coming into that school year. so on your time slot time and day, you sign in to the housing portal and can choose anywhere you want to live. You practically place yourself in a specific building and room if available! If you plan to live with someone you make a group of both of you and the "leader" of the group will then receive the time slot and can place you both somewhere together. It's not really complicated, you should receive an email about it and if not I recommend emailing your advisor or the housing portal!
Im currently a junior (maybe a senior now since schools out) im thinking about going here and I was wondering if any of the dorms are like definitely apartment style and come with their own stove and fridge. Thats something I definitely want lmao
yonara mountainview has suite style rooms but id you want you have to rent a fridge and microwave! Then hillside has apartment styles, having their own bedrooms and they might have those appliances I am not positive, but I’m sure if you search of hillside binghamton dorms they will explain their amenities!
Just got into binghamton for comp sci, really considering it. But I guess it’s gonna come down to finances and where else I get in (currently got into binghamton, UB and Clarkson University)

Hi! I was wondering if you know anything about the Watson School of Engineering & Applied Science? I got it into Bing under that school. So I was wondering if you could share anything you know about it!
hey i do have a question, so i am transferring for the fall and well it does say that transfers supposedly should live in the apartment community Hillside and Susquehanna. Do you know anything on those buildings ?
Hey I was also a transfer student. (Keep in mind I transferred in Fall 2014 so things might have changed since then) Most kids that were in my transfer orientation group ended up living in the normal dorms even though I ended up living in Hillside for a semester before I moved to the dorms. I believe when signing up for housing it was first come first served and I was just late. Anyway Hillside was pretty cozy. It’s far away from everything, but its a nice walk when it’s nice out. There is a bus that goes up there and back down to main campus. As for my room. It’s basically a full apartment with single bedrooms. I believe there were 5 rooms. There was a decent sized common room and two bathrooms and both of them had showers. There is a full sized kitchen which is awesome if you or one of your roommates knows how to cook. There was no dining hall unfortunately so I always found myself at Mountainview or Hinman (both are pretty good dining halls) to eat. Overall it wouldn’t be a terrible choice to live there with friends if you have a car. It’s a solid alternative to living off campus as a junior/senior. From my experience living there as a sophomore with random people, I would avoid doing that if you can.
I know I might be 2 years late watching this video. But I'm a junior in high school looking at colleges and one thing I would like to ask is that, is there any way to choose your dorms and roomates. And is there any way to contact you so I can ask any college related questions
it depends! if you are applying directly into a program it can be more competitive. but if you have extra curricular a, work hard and show you can be unique and put work in you have a great chance! i think you should definitely try and apply if you truly would enjoy being there! you got this!! and any other specific questions you have you can always hit me up☺️
They usually don't give out many scholarships since its already pretty cheap SUNY compared to other schools. Iv'e heard of them paying tuition for some athletes or students who need financial aid but thats about it :)
