Alguna vez, siendo estudiante en San Marcos, lo vi y lo escuche una noche en el Teatro Municipal de Lima. Sabía que jamás lo olvidaría y que recordaría con orgullo aquel concierto memorable. Hoy, a pesar de la tristeza, celebro la alegría de haberlo visto y escuchado. "En Latinoamérica siento la alegría de estar vivo". "Yo soy un loco del cebiche! He sido pescador toda mi vida. Siempre lo he comido y lo hago en mi casa". Pero llegar al Perú no solo supuso colmar la gratitud de sus admiradores de esta parte del mundo, donde -decía- se sentía como en Andalucía, sino también el descubrimiento del instrumento más decisivo e innovador de su carrera y de la historia de la música flamenca: un cajón de música. El modesto cajón que amenizó la trágica existencia de mujeres y hombres desarraigados de los confines africanos que llegaron esclavos a suelos extraños del que jamás regresaron. No solo era un gran musico: tambien era un pensador profundo..o dicho de otro modo,pensaba la musica con gran profundidad, y era un excelente filosofo. Todas las frases de Paco que citas son dignas de aparecer en una antologia de frases de grandes pensadores, pero puestos a elegir me quedo con la que se refiere a los mediocres, pero el problema no es su inmenso numero, sino que algunos mediocres intentan hacerse pasar por excelentes, y en su envidia intentan destruir a los excelentes de verdad..aunque creo que contra un talento tan grande como el de Paco,no habia mediocre que le ladrara..No estemos tristes porque se fue..estemos contentos porque existio..gracias Paco
Ese es el instrumento más puro que existe amigo, la voz humana. Por eso se respetaban tanto Paco y José. A José le hubiera gustado ser guitarrista, y A Paco cantaor de Flamenco.
