A criminally underrated and unknown songbird. In her prime perhaps one of the greatest of all time imo. She really could do anything with her head voice. RIP.

Yet, she emphatically chose to devote her gift to the God she loved. And I LOVE her for that. Just like many other genius musicians & great divas before her, it was not really 'properly' acknowledged how RARE of a talent she was by the masses until she'd already passed. So unique. Incomparable even. And now she gets her due. Her reward, her witness & her record is in heaven.

Lecresia Campbell was a beautiful soul. I knew her personally. I was visiting a friend of mine who lived in Austin. He had her first album, “Draw Me Near”. He was at work, I had nothing to do so I went thru his album collection. I was so impressed by her voice vocally and the anointing on her life, I wrote to her that day from that apartment. To my surprise, she called me and then actually came to visit. We had never met face-to-face before then. Her birthday was the either the 30th or 31st of October. Mine was the 29th. She came to Texas for my birthday. There will NEVER be another Lecresia’s voice✨✨✨
The best gospel music I ever heard was between the mid-1980's- the late 1990"s. This woman never sold out and that is why she not as known as she should be. She didn't try to cross over.

I just found out about her last night. How dare the music industry let her go unsung. I started listening to gospel music in 2004 and I can't believe I didn't find her sooner. She died and I want her back. This is one of those "Gone waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soon" type of deaths. Very disappointing.
I was blessed to see her in Akron Ohio back in 1992! She sang this and we got to meet her. She was very kind and down to earth. Very nice woman of God.
I miss when church felt holy and people or the church demanded for people to dress appropriately . Now, no one Cates. Choirs don't exists and everybody wants a praise team and album.
It was nice when we dressed well to present ourselves to God. I still wear dress attire to church because if the young never see it, they will never know when and where to do it. I remember singing in the youth choir until I was 21 years old when visiting children came and they would at least wear skirts, dresses, slacks, dress shirts to church. Now many children don’t have formal clothes, get into trouble and appear in court looking like they belong in the street, but wonder why they get the outcome they receive.
Time definitely has been won’t be no more nothing, nothing like a good old time religion, we must first seek the kingdom of God and all his righteousness and look for the old paths and will we find it walk there and we also must contend for the faith and hold the landmarks that our forefathers (Abraham Isaac and Jacob) was given by God for guidelines ofRighteousness for its holiness or hell

You need the right approach to sing that high! You're very likely a natural soprano or mezzo. True contraltos are insanely rare.
