Spurs 39-15 Run vs. Heat (2014 Finals Game 5, Duncan wins 5th Championship)

  • The Spurs used a 39-15 first half run to turn a 16 point deficit into an 8 point lead just before halftime. The Spurs would balloon the lead to 22 in the 3rd quarter as they coasted to the title in the 2nd half.
The Spurs won 104-87 to defeat LeBron James and the Miami Heat 4-1, avenging their 7 game defeat to Miami in last year's Finals.
No lead is safe when you play against the Spurs.

@Thomas Sankara - agree. I am a massive Spurs homer, but don't understand all the hate LeBron gets (and I don't like him, i just appreciate his greatness) - also, when Spurs fans say LeBron choked or sucked in that series, they are taking away the fantastic performance we had in that final. The heat were great, we were just greater.

He had probably the all-time worst series ever. Look at his numbers and they're actually better than they look. He has terrible passes, bad lapses on O and D, and some of the worst shot selection of his career. It's widely said if he played even an average playoff series for him, Spurs win in 6. If I remember he publicly apologized to the team after the series was over.

+TheFrankman technically, it was Kawhi, Manu and Coach Pop's fault they lose game 6... If Coach Pop didn't take out Tim Duncan in the possession where Lebron hits a 3 to cut the lead to 2 or the Bosh rebound back out to Allen for 3 to tie the game... Manu and Kawhi also missed clutch free throws down the stretch on that game... Parker was the only clutch player during that game, hitting clutch 3 to tie the game at 89 and then that beautiful spin move that puts them up 2

This team is truly remarkable with their selflessness, team work, overcoming adversity and chemistry. This team has to go down with those Bulls of the 90's and early 200's lakers as a dominate force that nothing can stop. The most amazing thing to me was how they overcame adversity after the demoralizing loss in finals and how Ginobli came back better then ever. This team is a true testament to the leadership of Pop, Ducan, Parker and Ginobli. I don't think any other current nba team would of recovered from last year much less dominate the finals pretty much from start to finish. Not a spurs fan but everyone can learn from this team.

Looking back its fitting the spurs took out the heat dynasty and ended it....they did the same to the 2003 shaq Kobe Phil jackson lakers...they were the only ones capable otherwise miami may still be winning titles....they had title needed experience ..they were ready for it..they had lost in a sweep in the 2nd round in 2010 a first round 1-8 upset in 2011 to rival grizz after being up 2-1 and losing the 2012 western finals up 2-0 to rival thunder and 2013 nba finals up 3-2 to rival heat ...not to mention losing 4-1 in 2008 in the conference finals to rival lakers losing in 2009 4-1 to rival maverick in round 1 and losing in 2010 4-0 to rival suns ...the spurs had done a lot of losing to rival teams the past 6 years in every round...in every possible series imaginable...up down aside... Mental toughness was there...they since have lost brutally in 7 games to rival clippers at the end of the game ...lost in 6 to rival okc after being up 2-1 ..losing to rival gsw in a sweep lol....they lose a lot now...they have again lost in every round every way lol...that's how they have been since 2008...

You can't deserve an NBA title as much as the 2013-2014 San Antonio Spurs did. Night in Night out they just never gave up while trailing in a game. After a loss, failure gave em strength. Even if they went down 3-1 against the Mavs in the first round or couldn't close RefKC out in Game 6. There was no stopping em. BTW, if the Heat 3-peated, the NBA would have died. The 2012 and 2013 titles were the most undeserved in NBA History. The 2013 one was set up. Thank you 2013-2014 San Antonio Spurs for saving the NBA.

Tons of smooth passing, always getting the guy who's most open to take the shot, and in fact, they are probably the most ethnically diverse team in all the NBA.
