Just got my CFI. I have MSFS 2020 and quest 2 and X52 hotas. While aerodynamics aren't perfect, the procedures and sight picture 100% help with real life. I practiced the power off 180 a billion times and in real life can nail it.
Hello Trent. I am starting my flight training very soon. I am finishing ppl ground school online right now. Can you make a video showing your simulator gear and computer hardware.? I was thinking on what would be really good to help train me and prepare me more for my flight lessons. I'm in FL so sadly I can't join you in person

2:50 is the moment I was searching for and for me that "grip" is doomed forever. It wasn't impressive from the first time they announced it because is looking like the Winwing take on F16 grip but without the extra trigger but at 2:50 the mystery of that silly looking "hat switch" was finally revealed. It's a garbage toggle instead of a full blown 4 axes and push ministick that usually is assigned as TDC or if switcheted to "buttons mode" as a normal HAT switch... So... no... the grip is useless. Base maybe awesome.
Hi Trent! My name is Trent Whitney (I know crazy, there aren’t many Trents ). I also live in Idaho- Pocatello. I am 52, but I will be 53 in January. I take the written for my PPL tomorrow and begin flying this week. I have been flying Paramotors and Paragliders for three years. I also have a RUclips channel under my name. I don’t monetize, but it’s fun! Somebody comically just barely told me about your channel, so I checked it out. Crazy as I have the same goal. I just bought your guide. I’ll start checking it out today. Bummer, I got a second class medical instead of first, but I can easily fix that as I’m healthy.
I own the Flitesim CLS-60 FFB yoke and I confirm that it's amazing and far better than the moza especially in a C172. It's pricier but well worth it in my opinion.
Here’s a video that I filmed a few years ago. My Rick has changed a little since then, but not very much. $20,000 Full Motion Virtual Flight Simulator - Ideal Training Aid for IFR Training ruclips.net/video/6ze5hFNYvcM/видео.html
Received mine a little over a week ago and I LOVE it. There are some quirks still but Moza are really investing in the software. I too think the turbulence is not great, and I also had issues with autopilot but fixed by changing the sensitivity curve. I have mine attached to my rig at the side and propellor effects really rumble my rig so much so I had to turn it down a bit as I was coming out with my whole body shaking to the same frequency, do you find the feedback translates through yours centre mount like that?
@@trent_dyrsmid my side mount is working amazing, and I think feeling some vibration through the profile cockpit is like having a buttkicker of sorts, but if I have the propellor effects too high I really feel it. I do sit in a racing bucket seat so not much padding though
What install path did you use to enable MS2020 on the right of the sim selection of the cockpit software? Can you copy and paste it back? I can’t seem to get any response or FFB from my new AB9 and it could be because I don’t know the path link? Nice video BTW. Greg😊
The side sticks are more for milsims like dcs, in military planes you have a tdc (target designating control, i think its called for memory) for controlling radars and weapons to lock targets etc pretty useless in msfs although i use it for controlling cameras.
Thanks for the review! Oh man, I just spent several hundred on the Thrustmaster rudder pedals (fantastic!) and now I think I need to spend more money... ;-) I'm curious why you chose MSFS over XP12, which I use (like many other real-world pilots). I know the graphics are better in MSFS, but I think the consensus is that XP12 has better flight modeling.
Microsoft has significantly improved their flight model in the last year. Plus, the G1000 in Microsoft flights him is virtually identical to the real world. I did try the one in XPlane and it totally sucked. With that said if there’s third-party payware for a G1000, that’s not something I know about.
@@trent_dyrsmid Thanks. I did notice in your video that the G1000 seemed way better than the XP12 one (sucks for sure). My plane has a G3X Touch and nobody seems to have a good model of that (sadly). Maybe when MSFS 2024 comes out I'll give that another shot.
Trent, We are a VR Ground School in Utah. Just getting started. Fine tuning our business model and would love to get your feedback. Is the Moza software compatible with Prepar3D?
I like that you recommend this form of supplementary training. Thanks.
You're welcome!

Good work!!
try xplane, I find the physics to be closer to real life
@ MSFS 2024 is reported to have vastly improved physics.
Damn Trent here I am using my $10 InfiniteFlight app on my phone and here you are flying in a practical holodeck of a flight simulator 😂
🤣🤣🤣 I have expensive tastes when it comes to a sim!
Great review, Trent! May have to try this setup for my time in the DA40 here at school. Would definitely be more realistic than my Honeycomb yoke.
It sure would. I was very surprised at how well it worked.
Great Video! There’s a second setting in the turbulence settings which will make the turbulence much more noticeable!
I’ll have to try that out. Thx!

Hi Trent! Welcome to my channel and thank you for watching! I wish you all the best on the journey that lies ahead of you :-)
You should try the Flitesim CLS-60 FFB yoke. It's based on a C172 yoke so it should be more suited for that aircraft than a flight stick.
Thanks for sharing your thoughtful comment with the community!

Interesting mate and great review. Have you tried any other FFB sticks? Rhino or FFbeast by any chance and can draw a comparison?
I have not.
9:30 I think you should have taken the turbulence setting to 100%

Looks like Pine Idaho, Anderson reservoir that you were flying over in the sim?
That it was!
thanks for the review! Does it work with MFS 2024?
It only says 2020 on their website
IDK…. But I would be very surprised if it did not.

Default path is what I used.
@@trent_dyrsmid Thx Trent. Does the default path just point to the MSFS.exe file? Cheers!
Sorry…but I’m not sure and am away from home in a trip. I’d suggest Google :)

My son uses my account.. so disregard the name. I was wandering if you started on Skywest already! I'm currently training.
Not yet. They told me I’m slated for a class in February.

I dont have pedals, and currently with my Thrustmaster airbus stick I twist it to “control rudders”
Are you able to twist this one as well?
No

I’m not sure. Sry!

What all do you have your students get? Preferably budget friendly sim equipment .
If you go to my website, you will see a link to my Amazon store on the navigation bar.
It looks like fun, however I do most of my flying with a yoke. Force feedback yokes are still ridiculously expensive.
That they are.
All the stuff that you showed in the video that will get everything up running?
Nor sure what you’re asking…?
