  • Dry needling (medical acupuncture) is a common treatment for these trigger points as they are both easily accessible and safe to treat.
The frontalis muscle is thin with only bone behind, so overall a more simple approach with the needle is required.
Dry needling should ONLY EVER be practiced by trained certified professionals. never attempt to treat your own trigger points in this way and always check the credentials of any practitioner who you consult.

Why do dry needlists use patients or exhibits that dont have active trigger points ?
I doubt its hard to find a willing participant with frontalis trigger points

Medical acupuncture is needling by qualified doctors. MDs. Dry needling is needling done by Chiropractors, Physiotherapists and multiple other modalities as an ancillary form of practice. An MD may practice dry needling but it is not acupuncture.
Acupuncture is NOT Dry Needling. Acupuncture is part of the comprehensive Chinese Medical system and should never be confused with dry needling which is a different therapeutic system with little knowledge of true acupuncture.
Registered acupuncturists do 4 years University courses to become acupuncturists. Dry needlers do short courses to become dry needlers. The two modalities are very different though Dry needling chooses to use "acupuncture" needles. In Acupuncture trigger points are known as Ahshi points and have been utilised in acupuncture practice for thousands of years.

Acupuncture sounds like hogwash compared to dry needling, just personally.

If a homeless schizophrenic tells you 2+2 = 4, is untrue just because he’s a homeless schizophrenic? Or does 2+2 = 4 regardless?
