I remembered seeing comments that Run Devil Run by KE$HA was a demo or didn't made the final cut in her album and SM bought the rights to it. It's been the same dance and song from 2011. I'm not a music expert but there are differences between buying demos, rights, sample and remake.

I think the title of this video shouldn't be used for some of the songs if not all because some companies bought the demos from the artist and made a song out of them, so I wouldn't say that they are remakes for some of them because it's their own song with a backtrack made by someone else

These aren’t remakes… it’s a Sm tradition to cover an older Sm song to show SMs vocal standards. It’s a cover and not a remake.. they didn’t bought the song they covered it.

Songs that are already released but you didn’t bought them are covers. You sing it but the rights / copyrights etc belongs to the original artists.
And the last option, a Demo is an UNpublished song which was produced by someone and send out to companies so they can buy it from them and use it for their artists. You basically sell songs - it’s not a remake or cover it’s a DEMOnstration

The companies also buy rights to songs to be able to remake them to avoid controversy. It’s not announced before releases since it’s more business deals but once fans start recognizing and clapping back, the companies make statements about it.
Aespas next level is a remake not a copy but had some adjustments which is pretty normal when a big company buys songs. The instrumental key changed cause the original is completely monotonous and so the lyrics changed. They also added a whole new produced and composed part in it since the original song is shorter and feels kinda unfinished. The new segment is SMs trademark and style (multiple beats in one song)
