He's the one who broke away from the monarchy although the King is still head of state, which if you were to ask many young people today would not know that. That is why we have a Governor General who is the liaison between our government and the crown.

Our dollar dropped like a rock and has never been worth a dollar since. Our dollar was was worth $1.10 American.
He also brought in French and English we were only an English speaking country before that. So all signs across country had to be changed miles to klm. All hwy signs had to be french first english second. All school books had to be rewritten because they had to be changed from pounds and ounce.
Then he wanted Quebec to separate from Canada but no other country wanted them. So he cost us a lot of money which took a very long time to recover from.
But he knew enough to leave
