- Mr. Hirschtick discusses the future of CAD technology. Through an interactive demonstration he exhibits the new possibilities in multi-tasking.
Jon Hirschtick is a leading innovator in CAD software development, responsible for two of the field's major paradigm shifts: SolidWorks, the first solid modeling 3D CAD and CAE system created for Microsoft Windows, and Onshape, the first CAD program developed fully for cloud implementation. Hirschtick is one of a handful of CAD executives to be awarded the prestigious CAD Society Leadership Award

so it's not really the "future of cad" it's just a demo for his particular tool
The future of CAD is learning a broad range of software (AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, etc...) The market used to be only one software - AutoCAD, but now there are dozens of professional CAD software. Expertise yourself in 1-3 software and then be knowledgeable about several others. The market changes daily, regulations change almost hourly... so it's a continued learning market.
I would never let anyone mess with my CAD model while i am working
Imo I would rather work with CAD systems on a desktop.
You can, using it on your phone is just a option. It works better on a desktop too.
pro tip: watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies recently.
@Benton Amos definitely, been using flixzone} for since november myself :)
For construction drafting I find that mobile platforms are perfect. The use of an iPad specifically has streamlined my workflow pretty dramatically.
Very cool! Looing forward to the future
As an experienced Rhino 3D CAD user and trainer, this is pretty cool.. May i know can this program do organic modelling? Thanks for sharing.
I found working with CAD programs on Desktop more user-friendly than doing the same thing on phone obviously.
Ian Malcolm: Ah, now eventually you do plan to have collaborative design demonstrated, on your collaboration demo, right? Hello?
John Hammond: I really hate that man.
It is an important revolution. I recently took a job starting a CADD program at a public school and if it wasn't for OnShape I'd still be wearing my I.T. hat and/or fundraising hat trying to set things up.
Y!
What exactly do you do? I'm interested in this field!
It's cool! i'm interested in this field too!
A phone is a computer 😬
I agree!
CAD is not something you would do casually just like other 'phone centric' tasks such as browsing, texting etc..So why develop it for a phone ?!
Thanks for the talking. But what is new about that? That's something I've been doing for years.
Nice video, packed with knowledge.watching and love from paradise! African safari outback.peaceful here
Guys help me out its for and assignment. Explain what cad is and how will it continue to help the construction industry
Don’t let TEDx become a platform for advertising products
Can we incorporate a machine learning program or an artificial intelligence for creation of p&id diagrams. The programs should be able to recognize the symbols from the library as Google handwriting input identifies the characters of English alphabets.
Thick vv. n
Better to write your own program, for this very specialized purpose. Don't expect this to be easy or quick, though. Good luck.
It's a good concept but a keyboard and mouse make things go so much faster. Nice video though.🙂
I cant believe there were people who took this seriously
i was watching this with a serious expression until the guy in the audience said 5 inches LMAOO
The future is less expensive
Jobs in Design field that can be replaced with automation would be eliminated. That is true. But designing and developing a product cannot be fully automated. Human intervention is needed from the start itself. Maybe somewhere in future AI could take over everything. who knows!
Correct me if im wrong. are you saying autocad drafter jobs are not worth it?
so what are your thoughts world? I was planing on taking cad at school is this going to turn out to be a jobless market?
Do you do it?
its projected to go down 3% by 2025 so jobs will decline but there will still b SOME
There are no limits to what you design.. Dont limit yourself to a market.. With CADD, your possibilities are infinite
I've been doing CAD work for 27 years, when I started I was told the positions were temporary and engineers will be able to accomplish tasks without the aid of a draftsman. Here I am two decades later and I see CAD jobs available in every field.
@@WVMothman tysm for ur comment.
Fusion360...?
Nathan Lodge it’s not entirely cloud system
Mobile app like me
Nothing new worth talking about. Less expensive that’s it!
the future will be made by freelancers
From India. For $5/hr.
@@Str4ng3F0lk Already happening at the company I work for.
@@Str4ng3F0lk are you talking about the draftsmen will be All from India?
The age of the machine, robots and binary code...But l am still waiting on my flying car.
Blame Winnebago.
They're called helicopters
CAD will be no doubt be replaced by Ai design-robot software, instant design in 3 seconds.
He made a hollowed rectangle and claims its the future of CAD :')
Wrong title, wrong presentation. The future of CAD is Generative Design!
Never seen Trump doing Ted talks before
What? lmao this guy looks literally nothing like Trump
That made no sense
God give it a break really I never seen Joe Biden do a talk that made a sense
bruh cant pronounce fillet
wrong tittle for the presentation this is just a tool
Joke
