I don’t have it, but I encountered something I had never seen or heard about. Sitting beside me on a flight was a woman whose pupil changed shape. Literally, as you watched it would change shape from round to something like a pentagon. (No lizard people eyes.) Have you ever heard of this?

It had developed a few years earlier (I think she was about 45) and around the time it presented, she was exposed to tear gas during a barricade situation in her apartment complex. I’m retired law enforcement and have never heard of any long term effects, so I don’t know if there is any correlation. She had been to many doctors, but nobody could help her. @@glasshalffull8625 Yeah... that is very interesting. I have some pupils of different shapes because the iris was damaged.... or stuck pupil/iris... but I have never seen where it would change shape from circle to hexagon. Sounds great, but the overall color is not very attractive. I am, however, extremely grateful to have healthy eyes! There is definitely a hereditary aspect as my mom had almost the same eye coloring as I but her mom (my grandma) had the most amazing sectoral heterochromia - blue eyes with half of one eye brown. Two brothers with gorgeous brown eyes and a sister with sparkling blue eyes.

I have central heterochromia, the example shown at a 1:14 is super close to what my eye looks like! But, even my two eyes Express them differently, from my pupil outward, my left eye goes from a red-brown, to yellow, to green, to blue, to a blackish blue thin ring on the very outer edge. My right from pupil outward goes, brown, light yellow ring, green, blue, and a darker blackish blue thin ring on the very outer edge of my eye as well. The yellow in my left eye seems to be getting brighter and more intense as time goes on. I don't know if that's normal even with people who were born with this. But, the comment that I get the most is "wow! I never noticed how weird your eyes are! Not like that but in a nice way.". Otherwise, I just thought I had Hazel eyes. I just now found this video, and I have complete heterochromia. My great-aunt on my father's side has it as well; she has one brown eye and one green. My eyes are very different shades of blue, but I also have three color vision deficiencies (I think that's what they're called at least.) so I didn't believe anybody when they told me my eyes were different colors.
One day I was at a non-eye doctor's office and he mentioned it. I said it must just be a trick of the light, and he asked the nurse in the room who confirmed it. When I asked my eye doctor at my next exam, he said he hadn't previously mentioned it because he figured I already knew. He had checked to make sure that I didn't have any problems resulting from my heterochromia, but since I was little I always wanted to tell him about school so he always thought I didn't care to talk about it.

No one in my family has any eye problems (expect my dad recently got glaucoma), they all have brown eyes because they're east asian, however my left eye is mostly green with few brown freckles and my right eye is full brown. I wasn't born with heterochromia, or had any eye injuries, I didn't even know I had it until my brother told me. Even the doctors were like "wow you're so special" and thing is they don't even know how I got this. They think its genetic mutation but they said they're not sure. I had always thought my eyes were hazel, however I noticed they are sort of mix. Deep black circles at the edge, golden hazel steaks with a light shimmer of a pale green in a ring. I’m not sure if it a a lighting thing, but something the colours seem either brighter or darker than usual. Also it’s hard to explain, but really close the iris seems to shimmer like ammolite. It’s really subtle, but it’s there. Eyes are really cool, everyone’s are different ^_^

Count me in. My right eye is split top to bottom brown and blue. I have met only 3 other people in my lifetime with similar eyes. You should also mention that this mutation is caused by Waardenberg syndrome and has other manifestations as well. Check out a paper written by Dr. Alice Kahn. She has made a lifelong study of this genetic mutation. She explains the connection to the heterochromia and hearing loss.

I have a question about heterochromia. I've searched the internet, but could not find a specific answer. I was born with blue eyes, and had them until the age of seven, I think. Then one eye started changing colour, so now I have complete heterochroma with my right eye being blue and left green. I don't know if that also could be an indicator to a certain disease, ... because it happened at a pretty young age.

Now I notice that you also have a darker circle around the edges of your eyes, a darker green. Just so you know, there are other people who have green eyes but don't have any different-colored circle around the edge.

When some one asks my eye colour I just say blue, but if the light is just right people will notice. Literally just yesterday I was playing golf around the golden hour with a guy I just met there, he noticed it and I had to remember what it was called!
