Yes, Yes, absolutely... You have an EVAP issue and be careful. Here's the issue, all gas caps are vented. So first off change the gas cap. Also, your EVAP vent valve (see video here) is stuck closed intermittently. Look into it and repair or replace VENT valve. It's at the rear of the engine. Usually full of dirt and mud, so it's probably had it. Your issue is that the vacuum is shrinking you tank and hence affecting fuel pressure. Look into the EVAP quickly...Good luck.
Without EVAP are the 1994 and older cars. Even before there was an early type of EVAP system. The sending using has nothing to do with it. The fuel level sending unit after 1996 OBD-II goes to the ECM so that it can know the fuel level and run the monitors. THanks for posting.
There's a difference between the two sensors. The fuel tank pressure sensor has nothing to do with fuel level. If you start replacing sensors you'd spend an arm and leg.
i have a 88 chevy caprice....after driving it...the gas tank seems to either fill up with air or gets the air sucked out of it...what can cause that problem....when i take the fuel cap off....the tank makes a loud noise ....
Hey I have a 2001 ford taurus, the only OBD ii code I pull is for the Fuel tank pressure sensor. The car won't pass smog and it also has very sluggish acceleration, would the FTP sensor cause the car to fail emissions AND drive so slow? Or is it something that the FTP sensor comes into contact with? Like the vent valve and stuff like that? We have replaced the fuel pump recently too. A new FTP sensor is $109 so any help would be appreciated,
Ok YES, the FTP sensor can cause the CEL to come On and fail OBD-2 check, but not run slow. Also, your code is for the FTP sensor value. It could be the sensor, the VENT valve stuck shut (that's what I think) or a wiring issue. Now, if you said that the fuel pump was replaced, 9 times out of 10 one of the hoses was now reinstalled properly. Double check your steps and or remove tank and do a thorough visual.
is there a difference in fuel pressure sensor and fuel level sensor? im getting that error message on a 03 pontiac bonneville. also my gas meter fluctuates. should i just replace the sensor (which one?) or replace them all to cear the issue?
I have an 07 tahoe. I get a CIL code of P0455. All forums I saw says its the Evap Solenoid so I replaced it. It didn't fix it. The CIL comes on when the gas tank gets half empty. I tied a new gas cap...no luck. Do you think its the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor? Any other ideas? THX
No, but it's usually at the rear of the car near the fuel tank. I've seen some imports with it towards the front.

Yes, it is located in every car starting in year models 1996 and up. It is a major component of modern emission systems and part of OBD-2.
Where at is the fuel tank pressure sensor at. On a 2004 monte Carlo. V6 engine
Component locator, Mitchell Alldata
On top of the tank or to either side. You need a component locator from ALLdata.

What do you mean the throttle body sensor?
Great video! Very informative! Any idea where the vapor canister is located on a 2001 Montana?

Look on the top of the fuel tank or around that area.
would this be accessed through an opening in the floor on a 2008 Ford Escape XLT 6 cyl? If so how?
R Wilcox It is possible...
