    Yes. I think Iga will remain #1 for quite some time. She has extraordinary reflexes and superb court sense. Her forehand is the best in women's tennis and her backhand is very fine. She plays the big points very well. She has all the shots--drop shots, overheads, volleys as well as mighty groundstrokes. She is at least one level and perhaps two, over everyone else on the current tour. She can lose confidence at times, but she is so good that she seems able to restore order quickly. Will be interesting to see how long her winning streak continues.

    Iga earned her ranking points by winning tournaments to become No 1, not because she merely inherited it from Barty. With her humongous ranking points, she can conceivably take a vacation till December and still stay No.1 by the end of the year.

    When she won Rome in 2021 the way she did (she double bageled Pliskova in the final) is when I knew her 2020 Roland Garros title was not a fluke and that she was the real deal.
    Now all that being said, even I could never have imagined she would go on to have this incredible winning streak.

    As an occasional tennis fan (only watch Grand Slams on TV) I was recently regretting the absence of a third Williams sister during the 2022 French open. After watching Iga through the tournament I believe I have found their successor in Iga. She has the movement, the power, all the shots and the consistency of a number one, male or female. She puts me in mind of all of Federer, Nadal and Jokovych in her unerring choice of the most aggressive shot possible, as well as her planned two and three shot combinations that result in points won especially against her better opponents. Who knows what her personal career goals are but it looks like the sky is the limit in the Grand Slams. (And if she can govern her activity regarding injury).

      I am Polish and I watched Iga's interview on Polish TV, when she was ~ 16 years old, she said that for her future career in tennis, she has plans to win all the Grand Slam tournaments. CAREER PLAN: Win all GS, not just dreams of winning.
      The mentality of the greatest sports masters, and she was only a 16-year-old girl at the time.

I don't understand her game. Let's calm down and see how it goes before crowning her as the greatest ever. She doesn't have a Federer nor Nadal nor Djokovic for comparison, at the moment.

    • @barbac3742
      @barbac3742 2 года назад +10

    • @MrPinkDino
      @MrPinkDino 2 года назад +3

      In those moments she has full control over the game and she chooses when to strike the final hit. Maybe in those situations there was a chance her opponent could still get to the ball and Iga wasn't it best position to take that, so playing right to opponent was much safer. It is possible that 90% chance doesn't satisfy her, she wants 100%. Simmilar choices are seen in all games, even top male tennis.

    • @agl1925

      She don't carry any aura, but media is mostly doing that. Rivalry is in every sport and her games too, just she is simply amazing court cover player and leave little place to all opponents for theirs game. To compare that, Serena did that at her prime and dictate her game for long time before become mama.

    Iga is coming into the WTA when you have several players who are not playing top of their games! Sure she will win her games easily when you have other players either hurt or not playing! Yes another plus for Iga is she’s young! Those are going to be easy confidence builders for Iga when you don’t really have great competition in the WTA currently! I’m not saying Iga’s isn’t playing like a Champion because she is! But the reasons above Iga has been winning at a faster rate than most WTA players! Iga is modest when it comes to her clothes on the court & her hair looks very outdated! When I first saw Iga photo hair down it took me back too women in the 1950’s haircut! Not attractive at all! This is 2022! Who’s idea is to dress Iga like a old woman? Very unattractive! Her’s Iga? Iga’s parents? Iga’s Team? Goodness not a good look at all!

Iga has the money to update her look & she’s young she’s not old? It’s not to be critical but honest! I realize Iga from Poland but it’s 2022 & Iga is young not an old woman also! - others are hurt or not playing hence Iga is wining
      - Iga is young
      - her hair and clothes are not attractive (are you kidding me?!)
      No, other players are not hurt or not playing. Did you mean good players? Do you mean Serena? Iga has played with most if not all top seeds already.
      Plus for Iga is that she is young? What's wrong with this? How's this even relevant other than yes she has achieved so much already and she is only 21.
      Your comments re her looks are appalling. Tennis is not a fashion show.
