Completely understand your view on not fitting into petite due to longer legs and look forward to your attempts with alterations. I enjoy your videos. I started sewing at the age of 8 and sewed most of my clothing for many years. After the last several years of quilting, I am adding garment construction back into my sewing. Thank you for the inspiration.

Best goals vlog I have watched. You cover so much.
I read at night in bed. I am trying not to look at my phone before reading. I am going to try and stop this habit.
I am envious of your stash. You have attained my ultimate stash goal.
My sewing goals are to build on my intentional sewing goal of last year and take time with each technique to make garments that last. Fitness has to be improved this year and have started.
I love all your vlogs. I really enjoy your High Street and Sew the trends vlogs. This vlog is your best to date, in my opinion.
I used to follow so many sewing blogs 20-15 years ago. And really learnt a lot from them. So I will need to check your out again.
Instagram, I thought it was me or my settings. But obviously the reels and advertising and pushing of other insta accounts is the way of things now.
Here’s to a great 2024 where we achieve as many of our goals .

I love your videos, as you may have guessed as I start all comments like that! 😂 I find I have so much in common with you, I too want to be more intentional with my making, it’s something that I have been working on for a while and this year I’m building a present drawer and making stuff for that so I have a hand made gift when I need one. I don’t really need anything for myself but I still like to make stuff, I won’t be putting garments in that drawer but I also won’t buy fabric unless I have emptied a storage basket of fabric! I’m being more intentional about reading and have stopped scrolling for hours on my phone and reading instead. Like you I’m fed up of Instagram, so that is becoming easier. Thank you for talking about your bible reading in such a gentle way, I have a similar faith but I’m often wary when Christianity is mentioned cos it often is a prelude to being judgey, which puts me off so much let alone anyone who has a different faith or no faith. So carry on being you Sally and I will be here each Sunday morning cheering you on from the sidelines. ❤

Aw thank you so much I’m pleased to hear you enjoy my videos and I get what you mean about Christianity it sometimes puts me off of sharing because I would never want to come across that way so I’m glad you found it gentle 😊 The phone scrolling one is hard to break but I’m definitely getting out of the habit now and have read so much more this month. Thanks so much for your support I appreciate it xx

Hi there. I always look forward to your videos and the thoughtfulness you put forth. As far as sewing, I also am 5’3” tall, short waisted upper body with a “standard” length inseam. I can wear petite on top, but regular length on bottom. I usually have to shorten the bodice and sleeves on tops. I am currently working on the Friday Pattern Co. Heather blazer; I shortened it a bit over 4 inches. I also want to master jeans because I feel I can create what I like and what fits without having to hunt the shops! I admire anyone who can discipline themselves to write. I like to take time to read in the morning, starting with Bible reading and study, after which I add some other reading for women’s fellowship meetings or whatever I feel Spirit leading me toward. I “catch” moments here and there throughout the week to read something, concluding the evening by reading scripture and praying with my husband. I would like to find more books centered around people who sew. I read a memoir by daughter of a holocaust survivor that sewed that I enjoyed as well as memoir of an African American gentleman that became really successful designing clothes. I would have to look up titles since it has been a while. Anyway, you are a blessing 😊

I understand your reasoning for sewing less. Only making clothes you will actually wear, and that suit your lifestyle just makes sense. Reading is such an important part of my life. For the most part, I would rather read than watch television. I want to make more coats. I like to walk, for exercise, and just for pleasure, when I walk with my husband and the dogs. And why not look great doing it! I would suggest donating the fabric you don't want to a charity/thrift shop. It helps the charity and also for someone just starting to sew it's an inexpensive way to start. Even though I've sewn for years, I love finding fabrics at a thrift store. I usually look for coat linings, it's usually a great deal. I think you are on track for your future vlogging ideas.

I love the whole process of planning my projects now and think about the pattern and fabric knowing it's something I will be proud to wear. Also love to up cycle fabric from a past project that I'm not reaching to wear, trying to work out why I didn't wear it and what I can turn it in to, such fun. Look forward to your 2024 content

Great 2024 goals. I am also trying to be more intentional and have been using the curated closet book for some time, which I find a really useful tool to keep referring too. I would love to see some videos on how to start blogging. I have wanted to set up a blog to record and share my makes for such a long time, but have no idea where to start or the best platform to use. Last year I set myself the goal to read 12 books in 2023, it really inspired me. I kept a list in my journal that pushed me to complete this goal, and found myself spending much more time reading again.

I am a voracious reader. I'm retired, so have more time than many, but I make a point of reading for an hour before sleep and I now retire to bed earlier to facilitate that. One of my goals for this year was to turn off the laptop/phone/ TV by 9pm, so that I limit the evening hours spent with the blue light they emit and it has helped a lot. I am not much of a TV viewer anyway, but if there is anything I particularly want to see and it's showing after 9pm, I record it and watch it early evening the following day. I am definitely sleeping better with this new routine.
I am someone who loves a challenge, but these tend to be individual, rather than setting long term goals. This year I have set myself three goals. Firstly, to record my makes in a more organised fashion. Secondly, to reduce my considerable sash by at least 50% and thirdly, to complete or donate several UFOs, of which I seem to have accumulated a fair few. I am working on one of them right now :-)

It’s a really good idea to reduce evening screen time isn’t it. I need to be better at this. Most days I am but when I’m not I feel it. Your goals sound very sensible x

Oh I am so excited about your goals for this year. Especially goal 1. I used to sew for myself a good bit back in the 70's ✌and enjoyed it. But never really did any challenging pieces except one cocktail suit that was really fun. I also have odd proportions being taller at 5'8" but longer legs. Would love to see how you approach making some jeans. Really! As I live at the beach in North Carolina, I rarely "dress up" and enjoy a more casual look. So identifying the patterns that fit and have multi coordinates is one of my goals. I do have some lovely stretch denim that is waiting for me to be brave and cut into, but think I will work on a cheaper piece first! Love your videos and thank you for all your input.

Thanks for another lovely video, I really look forward to Sunday morning with a coffee and your video, I find them really relaxing. I love your approach to sewing, and find myself agreeing with a lot of what you say. I too am 5’3” but can’t wear the petite range, sleeves and legs too short waist too high etc, I think it’s to do with proportions. 😊. I’m just finishing the Simplicity 8796 coat after seeing yours, so thanks for the inspiration, because I’d been looking for a coat pattern for some time and had seen 8796 but dismissed it completely, so when I saw how your turned out I ordered it straight away. I do struggle with visualising patterns in different fabrics or styled differently. Thanks again, happy sewing 🧵

One of my cats who was always with me and he was only 8 and it was very sudden so that was a shock and I feel the loss and miss his sewing supervision and his presence. Thanks for sharing! I love all your ideas for next year, and would like to follow you as you slow down and are yet more intentional about your sewing.
I would like to see your decluttering process if you care to share that. It would be a good alternative to "haul" videos, which I am not watching anymore 😅
I love blogs that are just a few specific plans with patterns and fabrics to match, but lately I cannot watch another video of people buying 20 different patterns and yards and yards of fabric.
I have decluttered my stash but kept some cuts just to use for toiles. That way if I have an idea, I can try it out and buy fabric later if it works out.
I also would like to see more blog posts, as sometimes it is nicer to read and look at pictures at one's own pace.
    Best to you in 2024!

👍I enjoy all of your videos. Yesterday, I finally cut out a green khaki full length casual coat that I’ve been putting off. Hoping to finish it this coming week. I am trying to focus in this year on my basics. I don’t do frills and ruffles and I prefer blacks, whites and basic colors, denim/jeans for casual. Anyway, I made a pair of non-stretch jeans last month. They turned out beautifully!! But then … they started getting very baggy each time I wore them. I had washed in very hot water and dried 3 times before I cut them out, but evidently the fabric choice wasn’t right for jeans. When you make yours this year, please recommend the best fabrics. I’m guessing I’ll have to go back to stretch denim unfortunately.
