As for the local shenfield services, for many years, crossrail, now the Elizabeth line was merely nothing else but a proposal in a report but now a reality And all the old emu classes swept away by the new 720 and class 90 by class 745 - so much has changed
A couple of things with this. Living in Bishop’s Stortford during the 70’s all the way to 2010 I am fairly certain the 305’s we used to get to and from Tottenham Hale or Liverpool Street were 4 car units. Also the majority of Stansted Express services stopped at Bishop’s Stortford as well as Tottenham Hale. Later there was a Tottenham Hale only service and a Stansted Mountfitchet and Bishop’s Stortford service alternating between the two services. Stansted Airport station was designed to become a through station but subsequent building has prevented this. Obviously the Flitch Way track bed would have been ideal and the Stansted Airport customers arriving from the east are greatly inconvenienced by the lack of this connection, the 15 minute journey a direct link would take from Braintree currently taking 2 hours+ going via Stratford and Tottenham Hale or into and out of Liverpool Street.
I wasn't around in the all blue era, but I do recall a trip on the Southminster branch in green 306017, what a pleasant train to ride in- hard to believe it was a suburban EMU..
Although the video is a bit dark it's still a trip down memory lane. I used to get the 7:00 from Colchester to Liverpool Street for work and also the 6:20 to Norwich which stopped at Ipswich for about 40 minutes before continuing on. It's a shame to see how much rubbish is about these stations.

The Fenchurch street line got all the rejects from the liverpool street line every time they got up grades.
yes we did, liverpool street lines slant fronts replaced our old flat nose 302s.
i found out on monday i was being transferred to norwich. i am not happy as i am currently in spain.
